  1. I played craps on the Summit and did not notice anything unusual about the table. But unfortunately there wasn't one decent game with a full compliment of players or any table energy all week; this is something I have noticed on every ship I have been on in the past few years. I am beginning to believe that it is the time of year that we are cruising - late November to early December.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO rucard1s:I don't think it is the time of year. We, my wife and I, have been on cruises in that time frame and didn't notice any drop off in casino play at that time of year.It may have had something to do with your itinerary or the people that went on the ship at the same time you did.

  2. I was on the Summit 2 years ago but I'm a craps player. The craps table was the worst I've ever played on anywhere in my life. It was as bouncy as a trampoline. I saw one good player have 5 throws in a row bounce off the table and onto the floor. Slot machines were very close to the craps table and the dice were sometimes difficult to find.

This was the first ship that I've ever rated do not ever book it again in this lifetime.

I was told by their casino management that I should try one of the newer ships that the craps tables might be somewhat less bouncy on them. I haven't taken them up on that yet.

    Dicenator

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenator:My wife and I are booked to go to Bermuda on the Summit next year. I have had good experiences in the Casino of Celebrity ships. The Constellation was real good to me. The Silhouette not so much. Had a good time in the casino and had a nice time with fellow Casino rats. Seems like I should use a shorter roll and let the dice bounce toward the wall.

  3. Just thought they might "gamble"smarter, but perhaps they are basically high risk takers, hence they have so much money?

I stuck with PASS LINE/odds and numbers and made out OK overall.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cruzincurt: The high risk takers thrive on taking the big risks. The math of the game is against them. It is smarter to bet the Pass Line or Don't Pass, Come or Don't Come, or place bets on the six and/or eight. Full odds on Pass Line bet and/or Come/Don't Come bets.

  4. I stand corrected!!!!! ERRRRRRR!!!!!! I didn't even play on this ship as it was a nightmare cruise in terms of stability and rocky seas. I confused my big win with the Celebrity Millenium I went on. Hopefully, it will work out this time. LOL

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Yo Eleven:I wish you good luck in the Casino. I also wish you good luck that you don't get rocky seas. I've been in rough weather on the water. It could be very rough. That is when I rolled eleven consecutive times with at least one die going off the table. I hope you have good food too.

When I was on a ship from RCCL the food was bad, the service was bad, however, I did have a couple of really good days in the Casino and came out ahead.

  5. The come out roll is the same as any other roll. One chance in six of a seven being rolled. I have to admit, that I am usually the only one at the table that does this. More often than not, most people at the table are not even playing come bets.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO btyko: The Come Out Roll is not quite the same as any other roll. It is different. On a Come Out roll you win on a seven or eleven if you bet the Pass Line. On other rolls once the seven is rolled you lose. Not on a Come Out roll though. Seven is the most likely number to be rolled since it has more combinations than any other number. There are six ways to make seven. five ways to make eight or six, four ways to make four or nine, and three ways to make four or ten. That is why most people don't play that way.

  6. Looking forward to it.

I am a very mechanical player. I play the pass line and come bets, with maximum odds. I keep my odds working on the come-out roll.

The only other bet I ever make is, when the bases are loaded, I will bet the hard ways for the dealers.

HHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO btyko: There is nothing wrong with being a mechanical player. Playing the Pass Line and the Come area with full odds is smart play. I don't agree with your keeping odds working on Come out Rolls though. However, everyone has their own way of playing.

  7. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO AAAAmerican: I have tried to contact you several times using the address you gave me. It kept coming back to me as undelivered. Anyway, my wife and I enjoyed cruising with your wife and you. We also enjoyed spending some time with your in-laws. Very nice people. Hoping that we will be on another cruise again. Next year we are hoping to be on the Carnival Splendor which is being transferred from the west coast to the east.

  8. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO AAAAmerican: Glad to see that you are on another cruise. Unfortunately, I have plans to be on another cruise this fall. Like every other gambler I have my winning and losing streaks. I try to have longer winning streaks though. Yes, I saw the case. The cards did not come as ordered so they may have a case against the manufacturer. That is another case though. Have a good time on your cruise and I hope that we will be on another cruise together.

  9. Makes you want to open a casino doesn't it? One of my favorite lines that I hear people say is "Hey, I'm playing with their money".

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Grandpaul: Not a true statement. If the money belongs to the Casino it is there's. If you put it out it is yours. If you fail to beat the House it becomes their money. If you win it is your money.

  10. Yep, I'll often try to get a table going after dinner. Sometimes my wife will come over and play if I'm roll'in. She likes Let it Ride and video poker trying to get the big hit. We both stay away from the straight slots.

If the table isn't open, I might go and play some blackjack to kill the time. So if they pull the crap table, I guess I'll end up at video poker, even with the terrible pay tables.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cruzincurt:Craps is the only really good game to play in the casino. I also like Video Poker and I have learned to play Three-Card-Poker. Although it doesn't pay true odds it is a fun game.

  11. I'll be at Harrah's in 10 days (and I AM counting) :D But Harrah's (Horse Shoe) in Shreveport, LA.... Was in Vegas 3 weeks ago... it was HOT! And thats coming from someone living in Texas where its 103 to 105 each day now.... But had a great time and won on craps while I was there.

If you don't like Casino Royal, try the new Margaritaville Casino between Margaritaville and the Flamingo... Its a nice little casino with a relaxed atmosphere. There craps table treated me very well.....

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO sailor_jimc: I used to live in Las Vegas. It does get hot there from part of June through labor day weekend. You can however have heat wave's in the fall and/or spring. I found the best place to be in Las Vegas in the heat is on Fremont Street where the front of the casinos are open and the A.C. is on. You also have the sprinklers from the trees in the middle of the street. That is near where the experience is.

I did live in Texas a few years too. Stationed at Fort Hood. It is hot and humid there.

  12. Ah the days of $1 bets and 100 times odds and then dinner at the steakhouse.

Great poker and comped coffee shop.

    Man I miss that place.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO scottr4020: From my understanding they don't have $1 Pass Line bets anymore. In fact, when I was a tourist there in the early '90's every casino even those on Las Vegas Blvd had a $1 minimum bet table. Now, it no longer exists. Even the last time I was in Las Vegas, 1997, that was slowly going. The steak dinners were great as were the chicken dinners they had.

Many of the Hotels/Casinos I used to eat at and/or play in the casino are not there anymore.

  13. I was in Binions in the 90's and a local legend Ole Ernie came up to the table. I was rolling and he put 10 grand on the pass line and 100 grand odds. He made 1.8 million on my roll, gave me and the dealers 10 grand each and walked out the door. That was my favorite place to play craps even before that happened.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Grandpaul:Benny Binion's Horseshoe was a great place to play at. They took all kinds of outsized bets that other casinos would not take. They also took some of the most unusual bets as well. Great place to play and great place to eat.

  14. And a BIG HELLLLLLOOOOOO to you too Casino Player!:D

Yes, Jimmy & I are still around.:)

Been getting a few comp cruises with NCL tru our local Atlantic City casino's.

I know you swear by playing the craps tables, but that $15,000 slot payoff I got is no small potatoes!

    Good luck to you too!:)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TVLady3: Good luck to you and Jimmy on the slot machines. Congrats on winning that payoff.I hope that we will see each other on another cruise.

  15. Was on the NCL Star 2 nite to nowhere and hit for $15,000.:D This was a Quick Hits 2 cent machine.:) I also received a W2G.:(

I hit this one at 1pm, right before lunch.

They even put my picture on thier big winners board, one of these days I'll need to visit my picture.;) They told me it will probably be there for 2 years!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TVLady3: Glad to see you are still around. We met on the Carnival Dream. I see that you are going on the NCL line a lot. We went to Bermuda on Holland America and will do a Carnival to New England/Canada in a few months.

We hope to see you and your son on another cruise.

  16. That's crazy!!! This gives me a hint I should try the Don't Pass Line today just to make Yo Eleven happy!!!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Trnkk: It is a slightly better bet than the Pass Line. However, the difference is really insignificant. Don't forget, one hot shooter could wipe you out.

Another story, I was playing at the Imperial Palace one night. This guy people called Joe was the shooter. He was a High Roller of the first order. After a Point is established he put $3,000 across the board. He is on the Pass Line with more than $200 on the line. Takes full odds. Covered every other number. His next roll lags a bit and one of the dealers informs him he must hit the wall. I am in the game and mention to the dealer he doesn't have to hit the wall. Just throw to hit the wall. Next time Joe gets the dice he hits the wall of the Casino which is about ten feet away.

  17. CP...Love to hear those stories!!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Trnkk: I was playing at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas in the early '90's. This oriental guy comes up to the table and places a suitcase on the Don't Pass Line. They stop the game and he has to open his suitcase up. They count out the money. $250,000. The give him chips and he places it all on the Don't Pass. Dealers turn to the Casino Manager who says, "We will cover." Shooter establishes a point hits a few numbers then sevens out. Player takes his $500,000 and is never seen again.

  18. Since Holland America is owned by Carnival Corp., I assume the same as on Carnival and Princes, 2x odds.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO btyko: Holland America has taken the Craps Tables out of the Casino for the smaller ships.I have seen this when I was on the Veendam. The Casino manager informed me only the larger Holland America ships have the Craps Table.

  19. Does anyone know the odds on the Craps table for Holland America ships? Thanks in advance!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO tseliot: The odds for craps tables anyplace are the same. The House has a 1.45% edge on the Pass Line bet. The House has a slightly less edge, but, they do have the edge if you play the Don't Pass. If you take odds the House edge slips to .80%. You can't ask for a fairer game than that. If you start making bets toward the middle of the table then the House has an edge of some 11% or more.

  20. We are going on a Trans-Atlantic Cruise on 4/14 from New Orleans to Spain. The cruise is 16 nights. Would you believe that Royal Caribbean has decided to do renovations on the casino and will close it for the first 7 days. They are going to give us a $100 on board credit - big deal! My husband is so upset. Has this ever happened to any of you?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO New Jersey Mainer: I find this hard to believe since the casino is a big money maker for cruise lines. However, this is RCCL and they do things that defy odds. I do not like their product and don't like sailing with them.

  21. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO gwilli: My wife and I have sailed with Celebrity several times. It was the second most traveled cruise line for us. We did like their product. After sailing on the Silhouette we are now looking toward other cruise lines. Celebrity Cruise Line is not the cruise line it was even three years ago.

By coincidence, we are going to try Holland America next. It will be the seventh cruise line we will have been on.

  22. Do any of the cruise lines' tables allow the fire bet?

Have any of you ever won big with this outrageously impossible bet?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dread Pirate Roberts: I have never seen a Fire Bet on a cruise ship. I never make this bet because it is considered a sucker bet. You will lose it many more times than you would win.
