  1. I was on the Beyond TA in Oct/Nov 2023. Our room was midship on the 8th floor. We hit rough seas after we left Spain and for 2 1/2 days the creaking and banging noises were awful. Luckily I brought two pairs of noise canceling headphones because I was unable to sleep without them. It got better when the seas calmed but still made some noise. I never remember this occurring on S and M class ships.

  2. I am not trying to start a debate about travel insurance but my Generali travel policy looks like it would provide coverage for the theft of passports. See Item 9 which is a coverage trigger under trip cancellation and trip interruption. I don’t know if the poster’s parents had insurance. If they did they should still submit a claim. It could be covered.

When I was in April I went out later in the evening outside of YC, it was really packed but I do like having the option of being in YC or going outside when I want to. But I don't think I would book outside YC but that's because I can get a little overwhelmed (neurodiversive with anxiety issues).

I haven't sailed in retreat on celebrity yet so can't comment (also probably can rarely afford it with the way interest rates are going and my mortgage coming up for renewal unless I win the lottery). I do know the lobster on celebrity was no where near as good as what I had on MSC 🤣

Celebrity is my preferred cruise line. I, like Lena, have never sailed in Retreat on Celebrity so, I am not making a comparison. Pre-pandemic we sailed in YC on Seaview in Europe. We LOVED YC. The only negative - it is much too sedate in the evenings. The music is lovely but some nights I needed a different vibe to mix it up. Once you leave the YC there is a lot of fun to be had on the other side of the door. The event staff threw great parties at different bars and lounges throughout the ship, silent discos and the White party just to name a few. The Europeans party late into the night. So much fun!!! More fun than I have had on any evening on a Celebrity ship. But the beauty of YC is when you can't play any longer you can go back to your quiet, little enclave. I would probably not book outside YC either, as I need that happy place to recover from the times that I venture out.

On another note, thanks to Charla for posting such amazing reviews!!! I have enjoyed all of them. I am longtime lurker but this is the first time that I have chimed in. Please enjoy your last few days on board!!!

  4. I asked this question over on another thread that posted both plans fine print but was thinking it might be more appropriately asked on this thread.

I am sailing with the Plus package on Discovery at the end of the month. If after the first day I am finding that I am spending too much money on the difference between the wines included and what I want to drink, can I upgrade to Premier? The fine print on the other  thread  made me think that I cannot. I normally cruise on Celebrity, and before they went more inclusive, you could upgrade at any time. I assume most lines did the same.

    Thanks

  5. I was on the Celebrity Summit years ago and we made a stop in Icy Strait Point. There wasn’t much to do there at that time other than the zip line. We did a whale watching excursion out of there that was great. We saw a lot of whales. So if you are being diverted there, and were planning on whale watching in Juneau, you might choose a different excursion in Juneau and whale watch in ISP. Just an idea. Safe travels everyone!

  6. Hi. We just disembarked Seaview in Barcelona about two weeks ago. Our arrival time was 9am as well but our YC butlers had us off the ship, bags collected and in a cab by 8:30am. Our flight out was at 11:40 and we sat around the airport for a couple of hours waiting for our flight. Our butlers told us disembarkation really depends on what time they clear the ship but advised that it typically happens between 8 and 8:30.

  7. Thanks for the videos. They are adding to my excitement for our trip aboard the Seaview. We set sail in just about five weeks. From the videos it appears very quiet in the Top Sail Lounge. Was it typically like this or was it just the time of day that you took the videos? Thanks

  8. Thanks so much for the feedback Bea and SeaSunset. Still not definitive either way as the daily that Bea provided definitely says 8am as opposed to what SeaSunset’s docs say. At this point the tour operator is aware and will monitor the situation. We have tentatively planned for 8:30am. We are in Yacht Club so even If we arrive at 9am I am hopeful our butler can escort us off quickly.

  9. Hi there. We depart from Barcelona on the Seaview on September 7th. Our online itinerary indicates that we dock in Marseille on the 8th at 8am. I am trying to book a private excursion and that operator advises that the port is telling him that we arrive at 9am. Has anyone sailed this itinerary recently that can shed some light on the correct time. Thanks.

  10. Is the Captains Club one level upgrade available for Suites or for Edge bookings? Meaning an S2 for S3 pricing?

    Prices for that sailing:

    S3 2599.00

    S2 2799

    S1 2999

I'm guessing on the last two, but the agent told me 200.00 pp more for each step up. No deck plans available, but he was excellent in explaining where everything was. Mine is pretty midship, deck 11 nothing but rooms above me. AQ was 1899.00 but only one perk . I'm satisfied, really expected it would be more.

  11. Thankyou for the replies & advice! I wonder on a 12 day cruise if it's possible to upgrade on say day 3 once we see how we go or do we have to decide Day 1 or 2?

It is absolutely possible to upgrade during the cruise. You do not have to decide immediately. But you will most likely be asked if you want to upgrade every time you order a drink for the first few days.

  12. We were on the December 24 sailing, and the ship was in full lock-down mode until about the 28th.

Embarkation was delayed until 2:00 pm, then we weren't able to get into cabins until 5 pm (sailaway was 8:30 pm).

No sugar packets, no salt & pepper, no menus anywhere, butter in the foil containers. Pax couldn't touch a dish, or even grab their own utensil roll up. In Blu, waiters served the rolls, there were no little bowls with vegetables and hummous ... absolutely nothing that a passenger may touch could be touched by another passenger. The crew were all quite relieved when the lock-down was lifted and they could go back to doing their regular jobs. I think it took a real toll on them.

I kept asking crew members what the deal was, but apparently they had been well trained because no one would dish on how bad the outbreak was.

Wash your hands people, wash your hands.

I just disembarked Summit yesterday (Dec 31 - Jan 7 cruise). At embarkation we were told that the previous cruise had some Noro issues. That being said, we did not hear about or experience any issues on our sailing and no precautions were in place.

  13. Wait....What????? They put out cheese and antipasto platters in Cellarmasters on S class ships??? We'v only been on M class and nothing like that. We will be on Reflection next February. Do tell more!!!

We were on Reflection in January. Our party of four stopped into Cellar Masters pre-dinner most nights. They did not have a communal tray of antipasto but the sommelier, I believe her name was Natalia, would bring us plates with cheese, olives and hummus every time.

  14. Hi. We are cruising the Summit out of San Juan for New Years. Our travel agent booked us into 7080 (it is a balcony 2A which is supposed to be mid-ship)as she said this is a great room. I am traveling with my sister who is prone to motion sickness and she is concerned that this room although technically mid-ship is too far forward (on the deck plan it is the first room that they consider mid after the forward rooms).

I have looked through the M-Class cabin info and cannot find the info I need. I am looking for some feedback from those that have sailed in this room as to the amount of motion we might expect while in our room. I realize that everything depends on how rough the seas are and we will have to take that into account. We are just hoping for some info to help us make an informed decision on whether to move rooms or stay put.

    Thanks!

  15. Thanks for posing this question! We are planning a NYE cruise and right now are booked on the Summit out of San Juan with stops in St. Maarten, Martinique, Dominica, St. Kitts and St. Thomas. The issue is that the airfare to San Juan right now is crazy expensive so we are debating moving our reservation to the Reflection out of Miami with this Western Caribbean itinerary. Jamaica and Labadee didn't really excite us so the comments about the safe "fenced-in" port area in Jamaica may just make us pony up the extra cash and sail out of San Juan.

  16. And this understanding comes from______________?

Just got off the Reflection (Eastern Caribbean) on 1/16. We went to a BBQ dinner at the Lawn Club Grill one evening and several of the officers were at the cocktail hour. I heard this news straight from the Hotel Director. He did not advise the cost for the sushi restaurant but I believe he did say that the change would take place by the end of February.

  17. Hi. I do not get priority embarkation as I don't become Select until after my next cruise. I do have MLife Gold status that I have already linked it to my reservation. One of the perks is supposed to be Priority Embarkation & Departure Lounge but nowhere on my cruise docs does it state that I have it. Has anyone had any experience with this when checking in?
