  1. If you don't mind me asking, what did this cost you?

If I remember correctly, the driver was with us for 5-6 hours. We went to Orient Beach on the French side, then toured the island...lunch back at Sunset Grill at Maho Beach and then back to the ship. There were 4 of us and I believe we negotiated down to $20 per person, not including lunch.

  2. Hi Marty - as Bob said, it's quite easy to get back to the ship and off again in each port if you don't mind a short walk. St. Kitts has some nice shops around the port/dock, but then you have to venture a bit further to get to the more touristy areas. Might be advisable to grab a local cab and "hire" the driver as a guide to take you around the island for a few hours. This is a common practice in such places. We did that in St. Marten to go to the beach for a few hours and the a quick island tour followed by a stop for lunch to watch the planes land over Maho beach - a must see!

Let me know if you have any other questions- we have been to all of these ports and are going again on Freedom in April.

  3. i won the slot tournament on the GOS sailing on 5-24-18 and i won a free cruise on the IOS on 12-10-18. Has anyone else in recent history won a free cruise winning the slot tournament and played other players who also won their slot tournament. I would like to know approx. how many other winners were there in the slot tournament and what was the format for winning the grand prize. In other words was there 300 other winners and how many slot rounds were there before the winner was decided. The winner of the one i'm going to wins 50K. Also was there cash prizes for coming in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on. i would appreciate it any information you could provide me with.

Yes...just did the same one in 2017. Entire tournament completes on day 2, the first sea day. Very well organized, but get in line early at the beginning. There were about 190 participants. You got to play in two prelim rounds and your score is cumulative. They used the same 12 machines for 3 minute rounds, similar to what you played in before. At the end of the two prelim rounds, the top 60 cumulative scores were given $1,000 cash on the spot. Semi finals were at 3PM. Top scorers from the semis, forgot if it was 5 or 10, moved on to one final round $25K top prize, $15K for second and $10K for third. Tiring, but a lot of fun. Glad it was over in one day.

  4. Looking to book Anthem soon to Bermuda for next year. Anyone had a "large balcony"? How does it compare to a regular balcony and was it worth the extra money? Its less that 400 bucks I think more. Thanks for any help.

They are great...worth the money if you have any Sea Days, IMHO. The balcony is very deep.

  5. Thinking about my reply above, to be more specific, you redeem 1-$500 and 3-$150 cruise discounts prior to final payment and then redeem $50 OBC up to 7 days before sailing. Cash out the $50 when you board. Total redemption: $1000.

Yes, it took me awhile, but I did figure that out from your post. That sounds like a great plan. Thanks for your help!

  6. If you add 1000 points to your account by end of September you can still get $1000 off your cruise. You'll just have to buy 1-$500 cruise discount and 1-$50 OBC you can cash in onboard. Add that to the three $150 discounts you redeemed from your wife's account and that's $1000.

Don't you have to apply the points before final payment is made, which is mid July for us?

  7. Why don't you use the same card number? That way all your purchases will be combined. We each have a card, but it is the same account number.

We opened the separate accounts to get the 10,000 bonus points on each card, but will now be combining the purchases on one card.

  8. My wife and I each have our own separate RCI Visa cards. I would like to use the points to get two $500 price reductions for our upcoming cruise in October. I have 54,000 points on mine and she has 46,000 on hers. Is it possible to transfer 4,000 points from one account to the other like you can do with some airline miles? Does anyone have first hand experience where they have successfully done this?

TIA for your help and for all the useful tidbits I have learned from these boards over the last few years.

  9. I agree with others who think Cubans maybe a little overrated but Googling 'La Casa Del Habano' and the island your visiting will give you the best locations to buy. The ones I have frequented are Falmouth Jamaica (in the port shopping area), Cozumel (downtown) and Grand Cayman (just outside the port area). Stay away from liquor stores is my only other advice.

I have had the best luck with LCDH as well. There is one in St. Kitts right at the pier. It's on the right hand side on the second floor immediately as you exit the yellow building at the pier. They also have a very comfortable covered but open air lounge overlooking the port area to enjoy a certified Cuban. Also, I recently found out that they take online orders and can ship to the US. Now my box is fully stocked with some wonderful sticks!

  10. We are on the 12/2/17 Indy cruise. We are part of the Slot Tournament Championship taking place on that trip which we won as a free cruise on another cruise.

By my estimation, there are about 1,000 of us “in the same boat.” It would make sense that this promotional cruise is during one of the slowest weeks of the year and also explains some of the limited cabin availability. I hope you enjoy whatever cruise you choose.

  11. Just got back from the 10/14/17 Adventure sailing...here is a summary of our logistics to get on and off the ship...

We were at the Pan Am Terminal at 10:30 and boarded the ship just after 11. We had stayed at the Comfort Inn for one night. Used taxis to the hotel and cruise port without a problem. At the end of the cruise, we had a 1:00 flight. We were out of our cabin by 8, had a nice breakfast in the MDR and were done and in a taxi by 9 ish. At the cruise pier USE THE PORTERS. At the airport, USE THE PORTERS. They either take you to the front of the line or go in a separate quicker line. We were lucky enough to have first class tickets and TSA pre check. From the time we left the ship to get through immigration, taxi, agriculture inspection, check in and security took a total of one hour. Friends on Southwest didn't have as good luck and took them about two hours. Either way we were both at our gates about two hours ahead of departure. Taxis are plentiful. I hope you all enjoy your cruises as much as we did.

  12. Attended my first meet n mingle. It was so much fun! I don't know why I have never attended one of these before. We were up on Deck 14 having drinks, had some door prizes and a gift exchange. I would share pictures but I didn't get anyone's permission. There was about 50 in attendance. It was so nice meeting everyone. We had friends from Norway, Australia, and Whales. Also many others from Ohio :) Getting ready for dinner, glad it's casual night.
