    Hello folks,

I was wondering if anyone's on Norwegian Epic at the moment, and is able to answer a couple of questions for me!

We're sailing on 17th April 2022, the week long round-trip from Barcelona, for our onboard wedding with 27 guests (pray for my sanity).

    • Is 'Priscilla Queen of The Desert' back on in the theatre? I know it was put on hold for a while, and NCL promised it would be back "soon".
    • Is the whole of the Thermal Spa now open? When cruises first started up I know that some things like steam rooms were off-limits, but having recently sailed on Princess they had all theirs open again.
    • Is the Epic currently sailing at 100% capacity? I asked NCL but they wouldn't say what capacity they were selling their April cruises at.
    • Are there social distancing measures onboard (marked off seating, floor markers, full service buffet etc) or are we back to hoping people to behave responsibly?
    • Anything else I should know? (we've previously sailed Epic in 2018).

Thanks in advance for any insights. I really appreciate it.

    A stressed groom.

On 17th April Epic will be sailing under EU regulations therefore masks will be required inside and social distancing will be required

    Priscilla is on

The thermal spa is fully open but there are limits on the number of people allowed in the pool at once

There are only 1350 passengers onboard for this transatlantic so Taste is closed.

I asked this in another post.  But, it got buried.  So, figured it needs its own thread.  Additionally, the Port of Call board suggested I post over here.

So, NCL says they will “assist” if you test positive as you disembark in Barcelona at the end of your cruise.  Does anyone know what that entails?

We have air scheduled for the afternoon of disembarkation day back to the U.S. .  My biggest concern for this trip is not so much getting sick, as we’re both fully vaccinated.  But, testing positive the day of our return and being left to our own accord in Barcelona.

The Rep I spoke to wasn’t sure what exactly they would do for us other than provide testing.  Protocols were still being “developed” she said.

I’m just wondering if they have a specific hotel contracted for quarantine.  Will they assist with flight changes…without umpteen change fees applied, testing, etc.

if anyone has insight, it would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Honestly NCL would be the only ones that could answer that.  Basically you would have to quarantine, you wouldn't be allowed to fly until you test negative. I suspect that it would be up to you or your holiday insurance to pay any costs, I e. Quarantine hotel, airline change fees,  additional testing, etc., but in theory NCL would help you get a hotel organised.

Being our first cruise and not wanting to go about it aimlessly  , I started creating an hourly excel of our upcoming 7 day cruise but then thought why rework the wheel? ...Does anyone have ones they like and can share. ?

When you get to your cabin there will be a printed schedule showing you all the activities available during that day (you will receive one for the following day that evening). That sheet will give you info that you don't currently have and throw your careful planning out of the window. For example different bars are open at different times, live acts are in different venues at different times, the show times may vary, there are quizzes at certain times of day, the rock climbing wall isn't open all day, etc, etc.

So if a couple want to go in the hot tub for 10 minutes, their seat can be taken, even though NCL permits their stuff there for an hour? What if they have children, my husband and I would show the kids were we planned on being. This really doesn’t apply to mr, I hate crowds so we find chairs as far away from the pool deck as possible, but it seems like in polite society one could use the pool.

If I were going in the pool or hot tub I would be within sight of my chair so I would be able to shout out something like "It's OK, I'm just in here" plus there would be more than just my flip flop or towel there, likely my shoes would be next to the sunbed, my drink on the table nearby and my sundress on the bed

Wow, it is universally accepted that putting a towel on a chair reserves the chair. How the heck can anyone use the pool, or the restroom, if they risk getting up from their chair? The cruise line has posted limits on how long the chair can be unoccupied before it’s considered abandoned. If you want a chair by the pool, get there early. Have some manners, it’s not a free for all.

My husband and I sit side by side and take it in turns to go the restroom, down the slides or get drinks or snacks. If we decide to go together we gather up our crap and let someone else have the chairs. I really don't see what is so difficult in actually using the chairs rather than simply using them for the storage of your single flip flop

  6. As a Brit I know that the assumption is that we will remove the tips and not tip anyone so we are always rallying against this. We always prepay our tips and then tip extra on the last night, the stewards/waiters always appear shocked. I am boarding the Epic on 2nd April I might this time try tipping some at the beginning of the cruise out of interest to see if the service is any different but honestly I am always happy with the service I receive

  7. The bathrooms are exactly the same layout until you get up to Haven cabins.  In a balcony cabin you would have more space though because they have a settee too.  I prefer the bed to be closer to the window on the balcony cabin it makes it look like you have more space, they have a funny wavy shape to them so if you have the bed first you get the narrower part of the room at the balcony end so it seems to close it in whereas if you have the settee first the cabin gives the impression of opening up as you go further in

We are travelling with a group of friends and thought the only time we will be in our room is to shower, change and sleep - usually have balcony cabin but thought what the heck ?!

    Hope it’s not a mistake 🤷‍♀️

The Epic inside cabins are well decorated and have loads of storage. They are better when the beds are set up as singles rather than a double though. The bathroom you presumably know is odd though and many people don't like it, I didn't mind, I travelled with my aunt and it was fine

Avoid those rooms. The balconies are afterthoughts from a repurposed space. You can even look over the balcony because the glass goes above the rail.

I watched this video of the corner balcony 1108. I saw the glass around the balcony and it doesn't bother me. It looks like a great cabin for the same price as a standard balcony.

Back when the Epic was being built NCL was trying out some design ideas in the cabins with the wave design and the bathrooms.  If I remember correctly the bathroom was broken up so multiple people could utilize different parts if they were all separate.

Which would be more practical if the panels weren't see through
