  1. Actually I thought it was said that Voyager was not getting DD? At least I know someone on these boards got a response from Royal on social media saying that it was not. Is there a specific announcement you're speaking of?

Also, it was announced that Freedom will not be getting DD during her dry-dock in January.

They are slowing down the conversion after Oasis class but Royal has made it known it is their intent to roll DD out to as many ships as can accommodate the changes.

  2. Capt Liz, waiting for your cell phone call, guess you could not get a USA cell phone to borrow to call me. Sorry would have like to speak to you. Hope you are staying over to visit New York City before you fly back to Scotland.

    Take care...

    Irene and Miles

    Irene,

I got an email from Liz this morning around 1030 am saying she was two hours from home, guess she had arrived in UK and was waiting her flight to Scotland.

I expect we will both get emails in the next day or two with regards to getting the critter flags.

  3. Hi everybody, we're home so I can answer a few questions.

I didn't read the whole thread so if there's anything out there that hasn't been covered, I would be happy to give my thoughts on it.

I haven't seen this answered elsewhere yet. A question we had asked is in reference to the normal mdr alternate dining selection menu of chicken breast, NY strip steak etc. which Adam Goldstein said in the DD reveal would be offered. Did you see any evidence of this alternate daily menu being available?

Thanks and glad you enjoyed Quantum. Sailing in two weeks on the inaugural.

  4. From that same site of PDF menus the menu for American Icon Grill IS the same menu that is currently on the ship.

    Link to all the menus.

    http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/experiencetypes/category.do?pagename=onboard_cat_dining_options

And the confusion comes in part from the fact that they have not changed the menus that you reach from using the Quantum link off their website.

  5. There are a couple of slight variations. I do not have the menu memorized, but know the Rib Eye is currently listed as a Beef Tenderloin and I think there is one additional appetizer and entrée on the current menu.

I am sure someone will post a photo soon of the menu. Otherwise, I will come back after returning home and do so.

Thanks. I saw a menu from Grande that listed beef tenderloin. So are same entrees being served in multiple comp restaurants? Adam Goldstein made a big issue in the DD reveal that the variety in dining came from each restaurant having it's own unique menu with 6-8 options per menu. However, I'm fine with beef tenderloin, just asking.

Also has it ever been resolved if the "alternate menu" that existed on the mdr menus of steak, chicken, pasta exists or is that another myth that Adam put out there in the reveal?

  6. We'll use this thread as our live report, and I've also created a Shutterfly share site to collect/organize all the pictures.

Here's a link to the Pool Bar album - https://quantumlaunchers.shutterfly.com/restaurants/40

We'll continue to upload photos :)

Joanna, I will be writing my own personal review during/after the inaugural voyage for a fb group and may post on CC too. While I will take thousands of pictures myself I would prefer not to embed a lot into my review. Would you be ok with me providing the link to the Q Launchers Shutterfly photo album in my review so people can go there to see the photos? Obviously you will have photos unique to the maiden voyage (masquerade dinner etc.).

  7.

That checkin was terrible - utter confusion. I can only hope it's because the staff (non-Royal) at Southampton haven't been properly trained because this is a one time thing (until Anthem arrives).

We weren't able to get into our cabin (Superior Grand Suite on Deck 8), so we used our Set Sail Pass to purchase beers.

Well I doubt the non-Royal staff at Cape Liberty are trained on the new process. Plus a totally new facility.

Glad to know you can still get that first welcome aboard drink with your setsail pass. :D

  8. Unless they get super fancy with it, the card won't even need the strip on the back. The sensor just looks for something inserting into the slot.

Unless RCI is using some different sensor or technology than other ships or hotels currently employing them. So I think the question is still valid.

  9. I would like to have pictures of the single rooms. My sister has one in Jan. sailing. I am

afraid it will be a closet.

Pictures of the track. Is it sorta separated from the public . Meaning only runners and walkers will be allowed on it. Or will we have to keep dodging in and out .

Aerial pictures of the ship show the track is pretty much the same as on any other ship going through the area for deck chairs above the pool deck.

  10. Hi Everyone - one week from today we will be boarding the Quantum of the Seas! Can't wait!

Let us know if you have any other specific questions/asks.

    Enjoy your weekends!

    Joanna

    Joanna,

Like to know how they handle northstar. Do people sign up for a time slot, is it totally just a wait in line as the zipline on Oasis class? What type of hours of operation do they run northstar (day and night)?

While not my specific interest I imagine there are a bunch with similar questions regarding RipCord.

    Thanks,

  11.

When you check in they will scan your set sail pass, check your ID but you will not get your sea pass card until you are on the ship. It will be in a sealed envelope outside your cabin door.

Was wondering how this was going to work. Now all it takes is one idiot to go through the hallways taking everyone's envelopes.

  12. Pauly- thank you for starting this thread! I have been trying to figure out what to do in Falmouth as well.

Does anyone have pictures of the port area and the craft market within? I can't get a good image in my head, and it seems like the only posted pictures are of Margaritaville, which isn't really what I want to see. I'd like to see the shopping/etc. within the gate that isn't a chain store (like the wood carvers or basket makers). Are the prices higher within the gate significantly?

A few years ago we did the Dunn's River/Tubing tour with Phil-but we left from Ocho Rios. This year I would like to do just some tubing and then do some shopping, but it sounds like all the tubing adventures are really far from the ship. Are there any close by? Which would be best for a 70 year old (my mom)?

I love the sharing of information here- it helps so much to prepare! Thank you for bringing us back on topic.

    Megan.

Here are some pictures from 2012. Not much has changed except the yellow highlighted area is where Margaritaville is now.
