We have loved curling up with blankets in some of the comfy deck chairs on Deck 7 on the Golden during scenic cruising days in Alaska. There is generally a member of the bar staff with a rolling cart going around with special hot drinks for sale in thermal Princess mugs - hot chocolate and Bailey's, my favorite! I like Deck 7 because it is covered, a little more sheltered from the wind and you can enjoy listening to the commentary from the naturalist while you relax there.

Deck 7 was my favorite spot too!  And will be this September when I am there again.  Last time on the Grand, this time on the Golden!  Can't wait!

Princess collected our passports when we were in Ireland.
When we were on an Alaska cruise, we made a stop in Canada, of course.  We were told to bring our ID/Passports and we had to show them before we entered.   This was back in 2008 and 2010 so maybe it has changed since then.
We sometimes, but not always, talk our passports with us when we go ashore.

We had to show ours in 2015, So I keep it on me.  Just in case.

I will be on this cruise.  Waiting to hear from my sister if she's coming.  If not,  I will be soIo.

I guess the quoting doesn't work like it used to.  Talking about Golden Princess.  Sept 14 to Alaska.

Then I will see you there!  At meet and greet maybe?

  4. I did a Princess land/cruise tour of Alaska a couple years ago. I was informed that you need two suitcases. One for land and one for sea. I took a small case (I used my small carryon) for my land portion and a larger case for cruise. Put your tags on and they will pick up at the hotel and store the cruise case and deliver it to your cabin on ship. The land case is picked up every day and delivered to your next hotel room. I had no problems with this. Delivered on time right to my room.

You can carry a small bag with you if you wish to keep up with it. I did not. Just had my handbag.

Also, I was also a solo traveler that trip. I had a blast and you will too!

  5. On the Royal and Regal you also need to put your card in a slot just inside your cabin to activate the lights.

Can you use any old card with a strip? Like a used gift card? If I put my cruise card in there I'm likely to forget it.;p

  6. I did a cruisetour with Princess May of 2015. Land portion first. On your own means meals on your own. They take care of luggage and transportation. I did the tour starting out in Anchorage, drove to McKinley Lodge (talkeetna) for an afternoon and night, the drove to Denali Princess Lodge next morning and did a tour into Denali. Next morning got up and caught the train down to Whittier. Then cruise from Whittier to Vancouver. It was great! If you want to avoid the crowds, go in May or September. May when I was there was perfect weather. Sunny and in the 60's. You will love it whenever you go. :)

  7. Hi Mya,

Check the roll call for your specific cruise, and I'm certain you'll find others who are travelling solo. Another way to meet people is to attend some of the activities on board, depending on your interests. Have fun and enjoy your second cruise!

I already planned on doing this. Thank you.

  8. I'm sure you will really enjoy your cruise on the Regal Princess. Be sure to join the Roll Call for that specific sailing. (This Roll Call is for Solos on any sailing on any ship)

    Already did. Thanks! :)

  9. Oops! Sorry! I thought I had put in when I was sailing. Sorry.

October 14, 2017 Regal Princess! Looking forward to it too. This will be my second cruise ever. First being to Alaska May 2015. That was a solo cruise also. I loved it! Not only the scenery, but the ability to do what I wanted onboard without waiting for other people. It was great.

I look forward to meeting people, making new friends and seeing places I've never been to before.

    See you then!

  10. I'm looking into my first solo cruise and am looking at a couple British Isles ones on Princess. How is princess for solo travelers? Can anyone point me towards a review?

May of 2015 I went solo on the Grand Princes in Alaska. Had a fabulous time! My room steward was wonderfully attentive. The waiters in the dining room were perfect!

I had such a good time I have booked another solo cruise with Princess for October 2017.

I believe its your attitude that decides whether you will have a good time or not. I am shy and quiet and I had a blast. Met some wonderful people, some I am still friends with. Go for it. Have fun!
