I'm currently onboard the Breeze and was told the Red Frog Happy Hour on Embarkation day has been discontinued. 😐

Well that sucks.  We'll be on the Magic in April and wasn't looking forward to the happy hour.  DH likes to stock up on beer.

You mentioned they took your first week S&S card off you and gave you your new one.  I keep my S&S cards are mementos - can I get the first week S&S card back for this purpose?

Yes.  They told us we could go to Guest Services to get our old card but I totally forgot to go back for ours 😞   If they don't say anything when you give it to them, just ask.

Thank you so much for your review. Loved the beautiful pictures with it. We are leaving on the Horizon tomorrow and of course our flight today has been delayed. Guess that just proves it a good idea to fly a day early. Your review kept me entertained, engaged and taught me something while we  wait.

Thank you!  I hope you were able to get your flight and your enjoying your time onboard.

    Thanks for the great review.

We were booked for an all inclusive resort near Cancún for January, but after the shootout on the beach at the resort next door we decided to bail and we just booked the Horizon for the ABCs.  Hopefully we do get to Bonaire as we love that Island!

Very much looking forward to the Horizon and your great photos and review help us to realize we made a great decision.

Thank you!  We'll get to go to Bonaire in April on the Magic so we're excited about that.  Enjoy your cruise!!

Met someone on the 1st leg of our B2B and we are going back on the Horizon next month on the 21st for Thanksgiving. Also going on the Sunrise for New Year's. Just watched the Niners lose again but hopefully will turn it around. Keeping the faith.

Enjoy your cruise.  We loved the Horizon and will definitely book on her again.  The Niners are stinking this year but like you said, keep the faith and hope they can pull the rest of the season out.

Was there a charge for chairs/umbrella at Arashi beach?  Also food/beverage and restroom available?

We didn't rent any but there was chairs/umbrellas on the beach. I'm sure there was a charge.  Just stopped for a bit to eat.  They have a small menu (hamburgers/hot dogs), they have a bar, so drinks available.  There is also a restroom but I didn't use it so not sure how it was.

Great review. It was great meeting the both of you. As 49ers fans we saw each other in the Sports Bar during the games. I enjoyed reliving the back to back cruises again. Thank you!

Sorry I'm just seeing this.  Haven't been on CC since our next one isn't until April.  It was so great meeting you and looked for you after that Sunday evening game.  Hopefully our Niners will pull this season out.  Any future cruises planned for you?

     Great review!  Fantastic photos!

Enjoyed every segment.   I am sure I will enjoy the Horizon on December 31st this year from your great review.

Thanks!  I had thought about doing more videos but seems there are plenty of them out on YouTube. Enjoy your trip.  She's a great ship with a great crew.

We were up by 6:00am to finish getting our stuff together.  We were doing self disembarkation and wanted to try and get on the road early.

    IMG_5140.thumb.JPG.0f99b0cfe8bbc9b88221cecc747df419.JPGIMG_5141.thumb.JPG.96c8ab506115b23caae3f0ab444b2c16.JPGIMG_5143.thumb.JPG.c91e8375797b19fa9f11a0f0fe7545b7.JPGIMG_5146.thumb.JPG.34ebef04336b8e6d01c6f61737c9dd44.JPG

Went out to Blue Iguana and got a breakfast burrito and waited until we were called.  For self debarkation, we were muster A5 so we would be called first.  About 7:10am, we were called and headed to the elevators which of course were packed.  We got down to Lobby and there was a line to get off the ship but was moving pretty good.  Once they scanned us, we were heading off the ship 😞  Once back in the terminal, they did the face recognition and that was it.  Walked right out and DH went to get the car in the garage.

Our drive home was tough.  About an hour after being on the road, I tweaked my back somehow and spend the next 9 hours laying flat in the backseat with my legs up.  Not the way I wanted to end a vacation but at least it didn't happen while cruising.

So my quick feedback on the Horizon.  Definitely love the size of the ship.  Just big enough but not too big.  Our wait staff was great and wish we could take them with us on the Magic next year.  Our room steward the first half was great and saw him every day.  Our room steward the second half was great, but she had cabins split up so we didn't see her every day.  We left treats for both every day and they seem to really appreciate it, especially the chocolate.  The ship staff was awesome.  Always said hello and asked how we were doing.  We gave out about 50 envelopes with $2 each throughout to the people cleaning.  We had no problems wearing the masks inside and most people seemed to have no problem with them.  Casino, even the "non smoking" side still smelled and we spent as little time there as possible.  We only did the comedy the second half and out of the 3 comedians, only 1 I would see again.  The ONE NIGHT ONLY show we saw on both legs and definitely our favorite.  The other shows were good but not great.  We went to Ocean Plaza most nights to hear the Horizon Rock Band.  We definitely could tell the ship was not at full capacity except the pools on at sea days.  It was hot, so really not surprised.  We got spots early and enjoyed our days outside as much as possible.

Didn't eat much in the lido except to make a salad or get dessert.  The food in the dining room was great as far as we're concerned.  We're not fancy eating out people and just were so happy to be back on board.

We have the Magic booked next year and Mardi Gras the year after (both b2b) but would book the Horizon again in a heartbeat.

    Happy Cruisin'

  10. October 1, 2021 - Sea Day

Hard to believe it's our last day.  14 days went by so fast.   Woke up to our last sunrise at sea.

    IMG_5089.thumb.JPG.aa68d511896ab2a7b238b1d7ad337816.JPG

Today we went up to Serenity early (like 8:30am early).  I wanted to make sure we got a clamshell since I was still a little red from HMC.  Didn't look like many people were there until after noon and still saw plenty of lounge chairs after that.  Had a salad from their salad bar again and hit the chocolate extravaganza (which was basically different types of chocolate cakes).

    IMG_E5091.thumb.JPG.ae80a9e0d65f38991547c3173ddc0a5d.JPG

Unfortunately I had to do some packing.  After 14 days, I seemed to have more stuff than what we came with.  Was really looking forward to our last dinner in the dining room.

    IMG_5098.thumb.JPG.bf0b0a1e1d4279ea0483880f06f9bb69.JPG

We had the BEST team of waiters.

After dinner, we were able to catch our last sunset 😞

Back to cabin to finish packing.

  11. September 30, 2021 - Amber Cove

We only had a shopping day planned in Amber Cove, so after breakfast, we headed into port.  I guess I should have mentioned what the mask requirements at the ports were.  Since we didn't get off on Bimini I'm not sure but someone had posted that it was a $200 fine for not wearing one 🤯   Half Moon Cay we had to wear a mask while on the tender but once on island, we were good.  Amber Cove required one even outside unless you were at the pool or eating/drinking.  It was hot but it wasn't a huge deal for us.

You can all enjoy attempt at jumping (or lack of) for this photo but the kids loved it.

After we were done shopping, the kids wanted to go back to the ship.  We usually walk but decided to take advantage of the bike taxi.  It is free but a tip is appreciated (and frankly SHOULD be given considering what they are hauling 😛 ).

After we were back on board, we changed and headed to the Tides Pool.  We walked past the Lido pool and I couldn't believe no one was there.  Of course it was only 10:30am but still.

The Tides pool didn't get busy until well after 12:00 which was nice.

I'm sure we went to take a nap before dinner.  Again I have no pictures of the menu and/or food.  I'm really not great at doing this 😞  Our waiter Bryan was so entertaining.

Another thing we loved to do after seeing the comedians and having evening cocktails is go to the front of deck 10 and stargaze.  It's amazing what you can see when your away from city lights.  Not sure how ell this picture turned out considering it was my phone.

    September 29, 2021 - Sea Day

Woke up to this amazing water.  I don't think I've ever seen it so calm.

Since we were out in the sun all day yesterday, I'm taking a break from laying out.  Today was sea day brunch which was great (I'm sorry no menu or food pictures).  DH and I planned to finally go see a movie in the IMax theater which is an extra charge.  I believe it was the National Parks which was really good and totally worth the $5.50 each.

After the movie, went sat on our balcony and enjoyed the beautiful water (and shade).  We were doing JiJi's tonight, so I think I might have run up to the Serenity salad bar for lunch.

This is the second time we've eaten at JiJi's on our b2b.  Food was amazing as always.

We went to comedy but for the life of me can't remember the name.  Definitely need to be better at writing things down in the future.

  13. Half Moon Cay was amazing.  Nothing like floating in the water all day and having someone making you drinks 🍹  Unfortunately we had to leave 😞  Started to head back to the ship around 3:30pm.

We were lucky enough to get invited through our FB group to hang out in the Private Oasis.  We had to meet in the Liquid Lounge at 7:30 but really didn't need to be there before 8:00am.  By 8:30, we were on the first tender (I know they "call" it something else now) and heading to the island.

  15. Tonight was formal night, so we got dressed up and took pictures then to the dining room for diner. I forgot to take pictures of the menu and the food.  I know I did eat 3 lobster tails 🙄

I forgot to mention on the first part of our cruise that even though I didn't take pictures, we went to the Ocean Plaza almost every evening to listen to music.  Our favorite was the Horizon Rock Band aka the Quaratones.  They were SO good, we tried to catch them anytime we could.  They did a show called ONE NIGHT ONLY that is a must see.

  16. We were up at 6:00am to see (push) our friends off the ship.  Miami skyline is beautiful.

    IMG_4811.thumb.JPG.4db556dd8fd1b33e86d6210a5053c43f.JPG

We got the rest our stuff together.  Our suitcases needed to be ready by 8:30am.  Went to the lido to have a bite to eat and wait for our 9:15 meet up in the dining room.  With covid protocols, disembarkation was a little different.  If you were doing self disembarkation, you were called by your muster station number.  If you were doing checked luggage, it was the same with the luggage number you got.  There were lots of people hanging out in lido waiting for their number to be called.  We headed down to the Reflections dining room about 9:00am.  We were given a glass of mimosas and they came around to take our old S&S card and given our new cards.

    IMG_4823_LI.thumb.jpg.2107aaad9a08c5d791a64bfc1ec88cd5.jpg

We also took our B2B photo which Carnival provided for free.  Sat there awhile because they were waiting for 2 passengers to leave the ship.  Turns out they were also sitting in the dining room waiting, not knowing this was a B2B group.  Once they left, we finally were escorted off the ship, through customs (they did the face recognition) and then back on the ship.  I think they said there were 62 B2Bers and we were all on board around 10:30.  We rushed back to our new cabin that was just on the other side of the ship (same deck) and began the unpacking yet again.  We were able to leave all our clothes that were hung up and they moved those (plus our suitcases) to the new cabin.

Our DD and her boyfriend were joining us on this leg of the trip and they also got the 10:30-11:00 check in.  She was checked in and they were boarding the ship by 10:50.  We dropped their bags in our room and then went to get a drink.

Once they were able to get into their cabin, they spent time getting things organized (DD takes after her old mom).
