After she got her shopping fix I walked around the decks for a bit. I caught the tail end of sunset.

Much better sunset than mine in the stairway art.

I took in a little casino time this evening, emphasis on little. I had a pretty bad run two weeks ago on Royal so the casino budget is a little tight. The odds were not in my favor still so I think I am just going to sit this week out.

After that I got second dinner at the deli. I enjoyed a turkey sandwich and some potato salad. Excellent second dinner, the potato salad was not as good as Guy's but still very good.

I rounded out the night with a deal closer from alchemy and took in some music from the Horizon Rock Band at Ocean Plaza.

Next up, Fun Day at Sea.

Nothing better than a sunset while at sea ☀️

    Crowds, Crowds everywhere!

I have been very spoiled so far with very empty ships. My first cruise back was at about 24% capacity, my second was somewhere between 30-40%, this cruise was packed. I had read about 75% but later found out we were sailing with 3600 passengers, which is just under 90% capacity. If you have sailed Vista class before, you know it is overcrowded at full capacity plus boarding day is always a bit busier. After a stressful day, we weren't really feeling any more relaxed now that we were onboard.

We retreated to our room to unwind and escape all the people everywhere. I enjoy that this ship has a large selection of free on demand movies and we settled in with a movie. I did miss sail away (except out my window, and although a tight fit I am able to fit in the window ledge 🙂) but I will make sure I catch it next week.

This downtime was much needed and our nerves calmed down and the people spread out more. We felt much better and had settled into vacation mode 🙂

I'm surprised to hear that they were sailing at closer to 90%.  Everything I've been reading has said 70-75% but not sure how they knew.  I'm hoping our Sept sailing won't be that bad.

Regardless of whether you think how Carnival handled this is right or wrong, this is going to hurt business. They really should have taken more of an interest in her process because thousands of people are rethinking their cruises now due this event. No one wants to be stuck in another country trying to get care and I personally do not think Insurance would have helped her much.

Unfortunately I don't think we have the whole story.  The story makes Carnival out to be the villain but we might only be getting part of the story from her family.  Unfortunately traveling abroad without some kind of insurance is risky these days.

It depends on security, it is their responsibility to stop it. I wouldn't take the chance unless you park at the terminal. That way you can take it back to your car.

What I do is bring a collapsible insulated one. It folds down and it fits inside the pocket of my large suitcase.

I recommend getting a bucket of Ice from any bar and putting the bucket inside the ice chest without emptying the ice out. It is good for icing a drink and the condensation does get all over the place. Easy to empty and refill.

We have a collapsible cooler too but the liner isn't great and leaks on the bottom. Never really thought about putting the ice bucket inside the cooler 🤪

To be honest, usually I spend a lot of time on Serenity. But first day we went up there and realized there was little to no shade so we never went up there again. I'm passed the laying out in the sun stage lol.  There were plenty of other places that were in the shade plus we had our own balcony to lay out on.

Thanks!  I like to get the clam shells and turn it for how much (or less) sun I want.  We sit out on our balcony too.

Our check in time was 11-11:30.  Arrived at 10:40.  On ship by 10:55.  This process was faster then when they allow Platinum on earlier.   I’m onboard right now and having a great time.. minus a killer sunburn.

That's awesome news.  Sounds like maybe they got the check in process fixed since there were long lines just a few weeks ago.

We saw all the shows in the Liquid Lounge. They were all good and we enjoyed them all but nothing stood out as outstanding. We also saw many comedy shows which were pretty good. We watched a couple of movies on Lido which we always enjoy doing. Didn't spend any time in the Piano bar but passed it many times and it was full but no one standing so not over crowded. We were happy that they didn't sail with a full ship and nothing was super crowded other than buffet on 1st day and most days the main pool and of course the casino. But we didn't go in the pool so we always found somewhere on 11 or 12 overlooking the pool to relax and still enjoy the music. It was a very good cruise overall.

Do you remember how Serenity was on sea days?

I have noticed folks carrying yeti type coolers that are larger than the given demensions- most people just throw some undies and stuff in them.

Sounds like the coolers on wheels, no matter how small is the problem?  We're fine with a smaller cooler.  Would have been nice to use it as a carry on but its fine.

We just got off Magic and there was no Michelob Ultra.  Bar staff said they will no longer carry it.😡

Thanks for the info.  Interesting since all the menus show it.  Someone mention that John Heald had said they were just having trouble getting it.  DH will just have to drink Bud or Miller Light.  I'm sure he'll survive 😁

Glad to hear the process is working out. On the Sept 12th sailing and looking forward to any info you pass along. Enjoy your Vacation

You'll have to let us know how your Sept 12th embarkation does since we're on the cruise right after you.

They turned away a handful of people at Port Canaveral last week boarding the Magic that tried to use rolling coolers as luggage, even if they were empty or just holding cases of La Croix/soda.

That's good to know.  Thank you for the info.  I've decide we'll just bring out smaller cooler and then I don't need to stress about it.

We bring the igloo hard plastic cooler (12 x 12 x 12) on every cruise. The hard plastic ones do not leak. The bartenders ice it up with our beers and waters during the day and our room steward ices it at night.  Much better than the refrigerator.  Icy cold drinks all the time.  The cooler cost $10 in walmart.

I carry it on with snacks in it; crackers, nuts, etc.

We have one like that too that we normally bring but DH thought the bigger one would be better. I'm not taking the chance of them saying no to the cooler so I'll do something else.

Put a couple of fresh waste can liners in your leaky cooler that is the permissible size and you're good. The plastic liners holding your ice and drinks prevents leaking into your cooler.

That's a good idea.  I bought a collapsible cooler a couple of years ago to use for cruising (and then covid hit) but we found that the bottom leaks through.  I'll figure something out.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Do you feel lucky?  Keep the cooler in the shower if it leaks. Tape the seams. You obviously know what the rule says.

The one I was hoping to bring was on wheels, so more convenience than anything but I don't want to take the chance, so we'll go with the smaller one.

    Also from that link:

Since the screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process, large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage. Small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches, for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage.

So it sounds like they won't allow you to substitute a larger cooler for your carry-on luggage.

Thanks for the response.  I guess I figured it would work since it's not that much bigger than our carry on suitcase (its not one of those huge ones) but it is bigger than the 12x12x12.  We'll just got with a smaller one just to be safe.
