  1. No, these are not necessarily her favorite. She wanted something special that she knew everyone would enjoy. She is a very private person and does not like to draw any attention to herself so she didn't want any party but her kids convinced her that she should celebrate her 90th. So she agreed but only with immediate family, including her 2 sisters. No extended family or friends. There were 40 of us. After the party, she reflected and was really happy that she had this party. She appreciated how all her family came and everyone had a really great time. Her actual birthday is 3/14, Pi Day. She'll probably go to the casino. That's her favorite thing to do.
  2. We had my MIL’s 90th Birthday Dinner at Lawry’s Prime Rib on Saturday night. Everything was delicious. They carve your prime rib right at table side to your preferred cut and doneness Birthday Cake for the birthday girl brought to you by King’s Hawaiian Bakery
  3. Are you on the same cruise with him? He has knee issues so I’m not sure he will be doing much Fllowrider. I hope you get to meet him if you’re on the same cruise. Super nice guy and his wife, too.
  4. What a sight. I have never seen so much snow on the Grapevine. This highway was closed last weekend because of a snowstorm. This does not happen very often.
  5. On Sunday (day after the wedding), we had a Brunch Pool Party at the hotel pool for all the guests for one last time to get together before everyone start heading home. Sunday morning sunrise. That’s the view from our balcony. They are setting up for the pool party. Brunch buffet area In summary, this was the most magical and fun wedding I’ve ever attended. It was so well organized and coordinated from beginning to end. It was a blast and everyone had a great time. The wedding planner said she posted photos to her friends throughout the night at the wedding and they couldn’t believe how amazing everything was. They said they had never seen anything like it. The hotel concierge was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for all the events. She was so appreciative of everyone being so nice and respectful. So, as we all said our goodbyes, we come away having experienced this once in a lifetime fun and memorable event that will stay with us for a very long time. It was truly EPIC. As for me, I was so grateful for the Lyft driver to deliver the 2 passports that were left in his car so that we were able to make it to son’s wedding. With that, I wrap it up here. Thank you all for letting me share this beautiful and momentous occasion with you. I hope I didn’t bore you. Next up, is my mother-in-law’s 90th birthday party (dinner) in LA this weekend. I just barely unpacked from the wedding. Then, it’s one more week until Bella cruise. Another epical (is that a word?) event.
  6. And for the Grand Finale, there was Fireworks. For those that weren’t tired yet, there was an After Party back at across the street from the hotel where we had the Rehearsal Dinner for more dancing, tacos, and drinks. Son and his friends DJ’ed that event.
  7. The couple chose to have the wedding guests seated in a circle. Flower petals on the ground. Some parasol umbrellas for guests to use to help shield the sun. The chairs still have to make their way to the tables after the ceremony. A Photo Booth in the back there The Bar
  8. @Jimbo, trust me, we were very mindful and careful what we ate and where we ate at. No one got sick. I have not seen that movie. I know that they showed that part of the movie that you’re talking about for the trailers. Just never had the time to watch it. @BonTexasNY, I will post some wedding photos soon as I edit them. There are so many, I have to select just a few. I would love to show you them on Oasis in a couple weeks. We just got home last night from warm weather to wet and cold weather. It was 51 degrees in the house when we got home. Today, the sun is out at least.
  9. The wedding wasn’t until 4:00 PM so we went exploring for more food before we had to get ready. This place was always busy with line of people waiting and it had good reviews so we wanted to give it a try. The reviews were right on. The food very good. We didn’t want to eat too much before the wedding so we split these between the four of us. Chicken Enchiladas Steak Quesadillas Chile Relleno with rice and black beans Then, it was time to get back to the hotel to get ready for the big event.
  10. The Rehearsal Dinner was for family and close friends. Dinner was a Taco Bar with an Open Bar that was set up at the restaurant/beach across from Hotel Ysuri, where we booked the entire hotel for this weekend. My tacos After the Rehearsal Dinner, there was a Welcome & Cocktail Party for all the wedding guests at the hotel. There were snacks and an Open Bar. I didn’t take many pictures here. There were lots of Hors d’oeuvres but I only took this one picture. Spicy Tuna with Mango.
  11. On Friday, we had the wedding rehearsal on location at the Brisa Mar Palapa. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking the sea that offers an absolutely amazing view. This palapa is where the reception will be at. After the rehearsal, we had all afternoon free before the Rehearsal Dinner at 5:30PM. So we went and had lunch at the Choco Banana.. It was Sayulita Day so it was very busy in town with lots going on. Chicken Enchiladas Steak Burrito Chicken Nachos Granola covered Choco Banana and Coconut covered Choco Banana
  12. Yesterday’s event/activity was an excursion on a catamaran that the couple rented out. It was opened to any guests that wanted to sign up for it. About 52 people came. It was a great party and we closed out with a beautiful sunset. We boarded the Fat Cat catamaran The crew were friendly, helpful and funny. They served snacks, food, had an open bar and drinks. They even performed a Mexican wedding ceremony. It was so funny. We saw whales The boat docked near a beach for people to dive into the water to swim, paddle board or go out on the beach Crew feeding a sea gull some tortilla Wave hola! Sunset Back at the dock
  13. It’s interesting you mention ribs. What we noticed was that ribs are on the menus of most all the restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. I should have identified what the food I posted were. Pictured are shrimp on half an avocado salad, whole octopus in garlic sauce, grilled whole sea bass that was filleted in three sections with the bone in the middle, and chicken fajita. It was all very good. The shrimp tacos were what I was really looking forward to. This restaurant, Don Pedro, will be catering the food for the wedding. Last January when we were on the Navigator and stopped at Puerto Vallarta, we came up here to check out the facilities for son for the wedding. We had lunch at this restaurant and I had the shrimp taco which was so good so I couldn’t wait to come back to have it again.
  14. Actually, he was very nice, courteous and a very good driver. He had good control, didn’t zip in and out of traffic and used his signals- at least 3 seconds every time before he changed lanes. When he dropped us off at the airport, I told him that he was a very good driver. After we got our passports, we had 10 minutes to spare before boarding began. So, we just made it. Then we really needed a drink. The wedding is Saturday. We arrived in Puerto Vallarta Tuesday and stayed at a Hampton Inn there for the night and got transported to Sayulita on Wednesday. There is a festival here this week so it’s very festive and crowded. Our dinner Tuesday night at a local restaurant. The next day after arriving in Sayulita, it was Shrimp Tacos and Shrimp & Bacon Pizza for lunch.
  15. Greetings from Sayulita, Mexico. It’s a miracle we made it here for my son’s wedding this weekend. We started out Tuesday morning. Took a Lyft to get to the airport. We got to the airport at 7:15 AM. Went to the check-in kiosk to check in and get our boarding passes. Got to the part where you scan your passport. DH went to his jacket pocket to get the passports out. They weren’t in his pocket. He searched and no passports. My heart dropped. We lost our passports. He ran outside but did not see the passports that might have dropped out of his pocket onto the ground. So he must have left them in the Lyft car. He tried to figure out how to contact the driver and finally found the way to message him to see if he found two passports in his car. And then he found a phone number to call Lyft. He called three times and then after that, it just locked him out. He couldn’t call anymore. Tried texting again. Still no response. The driver could’ve been making a run to who know where. It could be a long time before he can answer his phone. Meanwhile, we went to the Checkin desk to see if they can use photo of the passports. I knew it wouldn’t be accepted. But we had to try. The kind representative said, no. We couldn’t use it. She said, without a passport, you can’t go. My other heart dropped. What were we going to do now. My thought was that we were going to miss my son’s wedding and the Bella Cruise. My other other heart dropped. At 8:15, DH got a call from the driver. He had our passports. He’s 10 minutes away, he would bring it to us right away. More later.
  16. Mochi is my son's dog. I just got a kick out of that big smile on his face. But I will definitely tell my son to give M some rubbies for you.
  17. I ordered the cake to have a flat and smooth top so that I could put my own topper on it. They had the ceremony in Los Angeles. We drove on Highway 5 so we did drive through the Central Valley. You are so correct regarding @grapau27’s Sarah. I can totally relate and sympathize with her. I had an injection right before Thanksgiving and I felt pretty good through the holidays. But my Merv the Nerve has been a pain again for a couple weeks now. What you said is absolutely true about taking note of the affected leg. It’s easy to loose muscle mass in that leg and calf because of the pinched nerve on that side. Just like Patti said, I have to work at strengthening the muscles, take laps and walk and not let the muscles go to waste. You’d have to start slow and build up. Don’t want to push it and have a setback. I wish the best for your Sarah, Graham and hope that she can see a physical therapist.
  18. My son and his fiancé had their civil marriage ceremony yesterday, 2/3/2023. It wasn’t at the courthouse but at a business office set up as something like a Vegas chapel. Here is where you bring you marriage license, you sign papers, they perform the ceremony and they file and send in the paperwork. The room was decorated very pretty but only ten people are allowed at a ceremony. So just some immediate family members came. Afterwards, we got some catered food to serve at my MIL’s house for 14 of us. It was a very nice day and event. I ordered a cake and made the silk flower cake topper for it and surprised them with it. Their actual wedding and reception will be a destination wedding later this month in Mexico. We started our trip to the ceremony very very early Thursday morning. The room where the ceremony was performed The cake topper that I made The Cake- Chocolate cake with Strawberry Filling/Whipped Cream Frosting
  19. Us, too. We are flying in the same day as cruise day for our Bella cruise in March. I guess it's more a red=eye flight. Jet Blue leaves here 10PM Saturday night and get in 7 something Sunday morning. The clock changes to Daylight Saving Time while we are in flight so we loose an hour. I get nervous about flying in the same day. I have been checking flight status everyday for that same flight since last July. I write down and keep a log to keep track of their departure and arrival times So far, they have been pretty good even during all the flight cancellations and delays airlines had last month. Enjoy Odyssey. You will love the Windjammer. I guarantee it. Or your money back. 😀
