Has anyone tried it on Celebrity? Did it work?
-
The only time I do travelers checks is on a cruise so that I can get cash for independent excursions. First timer on Celebrity so I'm wondering if they cash paper checks and if so, is there a fee?
Thanks

Bought a Gortex jacket to wear on the first Alaska cruise almost 25 years ago and still wearing it. Best investment I ever made.

Yes, it was from San Pedro. It was on Supper Shuttle. The unreserved people got loaded on shuttles depending on where they were going. The reserved people got put in a separate line and were loaded on shuttles that left as soon as they filled. Obviously most people were going to LAX so those unreserved shuttles turned over pretty quickly.
-
Just beware. I made a reservation and the shuttle ended up going to the Long Beach Airport and then to LAX. The people without reservations were able to get on a shuttle at the same time and go directly with LAX. They didn't really care about the reservation time, but they did have separate shuttles for reserved and non reserved customers.

Instead of calling their call center...try calling directly to the rental office..google their number...you're more likely to get a correct answer to your question.
They have a separate number that they will give you that is for the shuttle. I don't believe it has ever been answered by anything other than a recording though.
-
In my experience they ask to see a receipt or a reservation depending on which way you're going.
-
Does anyone have a copy of the drink menu. I'm particularly interested in the beer choices.
Thanks.

You'd have to arrange a shuttle pickup. LGB is very small so there might not be a shuttle waiting for fares.
Could take two cabs.
taxifarefinder.com will give you an approximate fare. We've always found the estimate to be on the high side.
It's a flat rate of $45 for a cab.
-
In my experience, even though they have a phone number, it doesn't get answered. The shuttle is the full size bus type that makes the rounds of multiple ships. If you're not in a big hurry, it's fine. Otherwise you'll get there much faster in a cab.

I finally was able to add mine, too - but can't "view" either that one or the two that were already there. I guess that's progress.
Same here.

Thanks for all the advice. As it turns out, I was able to find a C3 for the same price as the guarantee so I went for that.
-
Stayed there twice and no problem either time.
-
We have cruised a number of times on Princess but never on Celebrity. We're considering a winter cruise at the Equinox but there is a huge price difference between a guarantee and the least expensive assigned cabin. I don't usually do guarantees but for a $1000 savings I certainly have to consider it. What are the chances of getting an obstructed view, and how obstructed are those views. Any guidance would certainly be most appreciated.

Our Crooners bartender on the Emerald said it was better to buy the reg drink as the Power Hour ones were half the size. :(
He may have told you that but I paid twice as much for a Long Island Ice Tea in Explorers as I did during happy hour and it was an identical drink. This was last March on the Emerald.

Great location, great views from the rooms, but the pool is the pitts! Could not be worse!
Worldspan
134 cruises strong
I never used the pool, but the upper level of the deck is very pleasant place to sit with a view of the ocean.

They use a full sized bus right outside the rental car ramp at the airport. Just be aware that if there are lots of ships in port, the bus could get very crowded with luggage everywhere and it may make a number of stops before it gets to your ship.
-
Unless things have changed, taxis and excursions are not allowed to pick up at the port. You must walk out and over a hill where they park on the shoulder of the road. On the way back they can come into the port to drop off. I don't recall how far the walk was, more of a PITA than any thing else.
-
Check other dates. Air prices can vary drastically based on the number of ships (cruisers) in port on any given day. Sometimes the savings in air fare can pay for any extra day or two.
-
Did this one time with a reservation. As it turned out, those with the reservation were put in a Shuttle that went to the Long Beach Airport and then to LAX. Those without reservations were put on a shuttle that went direct. They didn't have to wait for other reserved parties to show up either. Next time I'll skip the reservation and save a bunch of time.

When we were docked there a few years ago I was able to pick up wifi from our balcony cabin. You were able to purchase the minutes online and as I recall it wasn't very expensive.
-
Maybe I'm nuts but the thought of going for a run after a number of days of shipboard life sounds appealing. Does anyone know if it's possible and reasonable to leave the Princess compound to run for a few miles?
-
We will be leaving at 8:30am, we meet at 8:20am. As soon as you come off the ship you walk into the building right in front of you, where I will be standing with a sign "COSOL TOURS".

Just wondering if there's any place to sit outside and enjoy the weather? I don't believe they have a pool?
Helpful staff, but no printing from web site

Glad it's not just me. Been getting an error message for about a week now. The IT department sure works slowly.
