  1. After reading this thread I checked on-line for my sailing in October...68 days away...low and behold! I was no longer complete! I refilled in my emergency contact info...skipped the picture...saved...still said incomplete.

While casually checking my email a few minutes later...Low and Behold again! My E Tickets were ready to print. So I printed them.

    Curiouser, curiouser.....

By deck plan, the cabin in the middle is a Single Bella Interior.  EM

I think that is not correct EM...since I booked one for October. Cabin 11006. It is a Studio Interior which indeed can be a sofa during the day and they pull out for a bed at night.

    Interior Studio

Single bed that can be transformed in a sofa

you won't need to run to the spa they will be offering spa treatments as you get on

I don't quite understand your response. Are you saying that the people at the tables as you get on...will be able to set the times for pre-booked already paid for online massages?

Beyondships dot com will often list menus.

Beyondships doesn't even have a section for MSC. They list only one ship, the Poesia, under "other ships".

Majority rules! LOL But always worth a try. I am a little less than than 3 months out...my Online TA replied thus:

    Good afternoon,
Thank you for contacting blank.com.  Unfortunately MSC advised that since your reservation is paid in full and past the final payment date they are not able to add the discount.

You need to book as early as possible after boarding to ensure you get the time slot you're looking for.

Why Thank You!  Luckily it is a 10 night cruise....but everyone will be boarding the same day in NYC! Yikes....not like the every port thing in Europe...

We went this morning. We pre purchased a massage for each of us.  They had our details when we checked in, filled out a sheet with basic data and health questions.  After our massages they walked us out, I asked if we needed to check out and she said no, have a great day!  Only asked me not my husband if I wanted to buys any oils or lotion but not a sales pitch at all.

    Hello!

For pre-purchased massages...when do you book the time? I booked one for my upcoming cruise on the Meraviglia.

  8. Oh my!

We did experience a partial electrical failure that took out our TV, Zoe, some lighting, and the electrical outlets

Of course we don't know your names....and was very concerned when you stated that your "wife" Zoe was taken out by an electrical failure! Luckily I kept reading and found out who "Zoe" is!

I'm really hoping that they do tweak the menus for US sailings on Meraviglia, too, Howard (we're on for 23 nights from Oct 18th, so we embark the day you disembark).  I loved most of the offerings on Armonia out of Miami in January.  I posted the menus and photos of the food on the following thread:

    2631573-notes-from-armonia-miami-havana-jan-2019

    Bea

Now I am looking at the menus in the Armonia's link here and they look NOTHING like the menus in Europe. Totally like any other mainstream cruise line. Nothing Italian about them?  I looked thru the first 2 pages and there are no Italian specialties....no Italian desserts?

Yet Lizinvan says all the menus are the same on every ship? Please to explain?

    Howard

  10. This all looks great! I hope they keep their European style offerings.

I don't want to eat things that I can cook anytime myself. Like at breakfast: I Don't Care about an omelet station...I eat eggs for breakfast every day. I want French Toast and Lox and special things! When was the last time you fried a kipper at home?

Osso Bucco and Tagines take time to produce...I don't have the time to make those at home.

  11. Those all look soooo good! You've made me very happy in anticipation of the Meraviglia's first US sailing October 8th to Canada....on which they will probably totally change the menus for Americans [that's me] so we don't complain about things!

Food is delicious, but it's just boring by day 5. The menu is basically

    Same salad + buffet soup + seared/grilled/baked fish + slow-cooked (beef/chicken/duck/lamb/pork)  + pasta/risotto

    Hi Thetaro!

Can you give some examples of what you mean by "Slow Cooked" meats? Were they good though?

Do you mean dishes like pork or lamb shank? Osso Buco? Short ribs?

If you are literally wandering around a very local port and your kids are reasonably mature, for me it would be fine. For example, strolling within a few blocks in Nassau ... I’m kind of a free ranger ...

But they are not going to be wandering or strolling, or even free ranging....they are going to be Mooching!

[Someone had to say it!]  But the Conditions of Carriage are quite clear...nope.

  14. Hi!

I read through your "Comedy of Errors" thread a wee bit back and it is great to read a follow up and that you are happy now! It helps reading these reviews that actually explain why someone is happy or unhappy with something. It gives you an idea of what "pitfalls" you may encounter and then you are prepared and they are not such a surprise and don't annoy you as much.

    1) What a photogenic couple you are!

    2) Great Pictures!

    3) Who is the guy supposed to be who is dressed as a "STAR" you had your picture with?

    4) People are writing the weirdest reviews of sister ship Meraviglia. Two mentioned it is so crowded there is nowhere for a quiet moment. [And in both reviews they actually said that they left the ship, one 3 days before the end of the cruise and one after the second night, because they were soooo unhappy. What?]

Looking forward to hearing more about your cruise!

  15. Hi Bonny!

Looking at the deck plans...if you were rooming over the spa in the very front of the ship you should be fine! Cabins above you and SO convenient to everything a deck below. However if you were over the Casino or Carousel Lounge....not a good idea!

This information was received from MSC on Page #2 titled Booking Details by my travel agent which she forwarded to me.

In the section titled (after my name and date of birth) "Items charged in USD", there is this listing:

INCL---(a number is shown that I don't think is appropriate to post)--Cirque Du Soleil at Sea Viaggio-Dinner and show-01/05/20.

My travel agent nor I have been able so far to determine if that date is the date that is a firm date for me.  If I can't get clarity on this date/time--whatever is that time--before I embark, the YC Concierge and I will have a meeting soon after I embark to get this resolved.

    Hello!

I booked on line and there was nowhere to "choose" a date or time. Online in my profile under "My Purchases" it is listed with the date and time. SEE BELOW

HOWEVER...I have heard that the date and time magically "Do Not" transfer to the ships logs and you have to go stand in the que to finalize the date and time. Yes! Another travel adventure.

HOWEVER...knowing this ahead of time...it won't be a surprise when it happens and if it is actually all set and I don't have to que I'll be happy! Luckily I had a class in Ship Time so I know that 22:00 is 10 pm.

Hello I've not sailed on Meraviglia, however on Fantasia and Splendida they Sat us English speaking Solos together on a large table .

    Thanks GlitterGal!

How large a table we talking here? I wonder if sailing out of the US will make their seating arrangements easier...or more difficult?

  18. Hello all!

Does anyone have personal experience about dining table assignments for solo travelers on the Meraviglia? I requested late seating of the two choices and know I have to wait until I am on board to find out. But what might I expect?

Yes...I could call MSC...but much more fun to see what people on here have to say!

I got a REALLY good deal on a Bella experience Studio cabin for the first sailing in the US from NYC to Canada. I drink very little and never order room service so Bella is the right choice for me. I think the location is just fine on an upper deck with cabins above and below [no Bella "Bad Cabin Location" there!] I have pre-booked a Thermal Suite pass for the 10 nights.  [An interior YC club interior was $4,000 more!]

HLR--there was a spa special today for $149 for a head to toe treatment.  massage, facial, foot and ankle massage.  If you add hot stones or bamboo it is $20 more.

Since I have not checked out the original price I can not tell you how much off you are getting.. . . and today was not a port day.  I suspect they were not getting enough business so they ran a special.  It was an extra flyer included in the Cruise Compass.

Thanks! I'm waiting to see how much my heating bill has dropped since last month....bill comes in 2 days... and we'll see if I can splurge! I'm going to take a look on their site and see what I can compare to that. Thanks so much for looking...and finding about about the smoked salmon too!

I am enjoying following along as you have the time to relax and reply in real time to people since you are on a back to back.

Will be wondering who you are as I watch people debark on the 18th when I am getting on!

Cheryls Bahamas Taxi and Tours.  If you have never done a private tour, worth doing.  Have them show you as much as possible.  Visit the Fish Fry, go to Ardastra Gardens Zoo, etc.

I am also a big fan of Ardastra Zoo. Two hours would do it for sure. It isn't far away...jitney or cab, we even walked once. They have a flamingo show and though not a big place once you start exploring...it's bigger than you think. They have a lot of large birds just walking around the place and a few big cats [not just walking around the place]. $18 to get in last summer.

  21. Hi Dragon!

Judging by your sailing what spa specials might we expect on massages for the next sailing? I am wondering if I should book something pre-cruise or if there will be a better deal once on board for a port day? [Would sailing/leaving from Bermuda at 2:30 pm be considered a port day with specials?]

And ... are they serving smoked salmon at the Windjammer breakfast buffet? Just something to get excited about...I really like smoked salmon, but going to the MDR for breakfast by myself is boring.
