Usually don't book until I am on the cruise, that way I got a better idea of weather, never really had a problem getting one I want
-
Been on the Dawn 10 times in a balcony never have seen more than 1 us 110 volt outlet in the cabin and 1 for a razor only in the bath. Always bring a 3 outlet adapter or non surge protected strip.

Havn't been a suite guest but being platinum we get 2 dinners, I always tip in cash when we dine at an upcharge restaurant except under the UDP, which I have already tipped 20%. If I find a great server in the complimentary restaurants I try to get a seat in their section and tip them extra at the end of the cruise

Some people are just rude, self centered and uncaring. On one cruise We had people in the adjoining cabin return about 2am each night and turn on the tv so loud you would think it was in our cabin, just went to customer service desk and complained, security showed up in 5 min. Problem solved.
My first rule for cruisers, you did not charter the ship, respect your fellow passengers

For the first couple of sea days it will most likely be cool, then it will warm up nicely. Afternoons can get warm. I live in New England and will be on the cruise prior to yours. Early November can be very nice and warm as sea temps stay high. Deck 7 on the Dawn has very few deck chairs, I have been on her over 10 times and have never seen more than 6, mostly keep clear for walkers. I recommend that you just check you luggage with a porter and put the wine in a carry on, you need to pay corkage fee for each bottle. You will be fine on the balcony. Don't worry be happy and have a great cruisr

Why am I loyal?
Cruise next program, free money
Perks UBP,
Latitudes program ( actually getting smaller each year)
Prefer smaller ships,
Great crews friendly and responsive
Anytime dinning, without having to share a table

Just wondering how people would reply and what thoughts they had which was the original question. Interesting reading
-
IMO neither port is worth getting off ship. Was on the Apr pc cruise worst of 20 NCL cruises
-
Why because after 20 cruises it`s like home. I really dont care where its going just go for the ride. Since my wife and I are both retired we cruise spring and fall. We love the casual dress code, and anytime dinning. Cruise next purchase and booking on the ship is a big plus. Loved the Dawn relocation cruises, took them both wzys until they started to end in PR.

Actually as the OP the extra points are meaning less to me. I am not hung up on any status program, since I am already a platinum latitudes member the extra bottle of water or dinner with an officer (rather spend time with the crew) doesn't have an appeal to me. I go on cruises to enjoy the ride and take pleasure meeting the crew members and conversing with them about their home and families.

Thanks Peg013vyou reply have been very entertaining

Just go on the NCL site and look up the cruise
-
Except that it is not a monthly latitudes offer, and is being offered to anyone who books now in any cabin. I'm sure that MSC is not crazy offering to match latitudes level, might cancel my 15k worth of booked to them
-
Already have OBC, UBP, dinning, WiFi, plus double strawberry, 1 for platinum, 1 for booking in Feb , two pirating dinners and extra bottle of wine, so extra points have no monetary value, the discussion was, is NCL showing loyalty to loyal customers by not giving double points to all past loyal customers
-
As the OP it was my feeling that the extra points is not really a perk since it really has no monetary value. While I have been a loyal NCL customer (16 past cruises) I just figured that they would be loyal to all past cruisers and award them to all on the same cruise. Like I have posted being able to get to platinum plus from platinum is really not really a concern, rather they eliminate the cheap bottle of champagne and bring back mints on the pillow, or extra bottle of water on a 14 day cruise
-
We are platinum members booked on 3 future cruise wi NCL. While checking on the cruises on the Dawn for 10/26 I noticed that they included an incentive of 2 points per night, when I called I was told that I would have to rebook at a higher level than the mid ship balcony we have to get the extra points. This just doesn't seem fair not to reward the extra points, not that the extra bottle of water that platinum plus gets is really an incentive. Any thoughts

To answer the OP original question yes they do have Beringer white zinfinde on the ship. As far as the purchase of the UBP you may want to look at the beer and wine package, that is if you don't drink cocktails. Yes is you purchase the UBP you would have to really drink a lot to make up for the cost that's why most take it as a perk, the gratuity is covered with the first 2 drinks of the day.

If your main interest is seeing the sunset I recommend that you just stay on deck and have dinner either before or after, no guarantee that you will be near a window in the dinning rooms.
Usual charge is $79.95 pp it's free for platinum and above
You room steward will meet you, good possibility that the fridge will already be empty, since most are asking that it be emptied
On the Breakaway, you need to put a card in the inside slot to activate lights, thermostat etc. You don't have to use your key card ant card will do.
If you like it cool at night, close the door and turn down the thermostat
Most of all don't sweat the small stuff and enjoy your cruise
-
Just a word of caution as a platinum NCL cruiser I have experienced a new cruise parasite. These are the people who choose to get the sail away price with no perks, then befriend those who have the UBP and ask them to get them drinks never offer an extra waiter tip and expect you to keep them in drinks.
-
Not sure why some people think that cruise lines are a charity, and should provide all inclusive vacations to all. They provide choices of price points from inside closet cabins to suites, so they can make a profit and shareholder value, award extras to those that show loyalty. No line forces you to book, you make the choice, stop complaining about the choice you make

Just announced today the Joy returns to the west coast 2019

On our last cruise on the Star in April they didn't have any American brand cigarettes for sale, only Canadian brands, not sure if this was because it was going into dry dock. Does anyone have info going on the Dawn in Oct
-
Yes they do but on our last cruise on the Star in May they didn't have any American brands. This may have been due to the Star going into dry dock but couldn't get a definite answer.
-
Thanks to all who replied, I did want to say enclosed, as I was thinking that maybe they had added an enclouser similar to the Breakaway. Now I realise that people have been talking about the exterior ship windows as being enclosed.
Curious about chair hogs and groups

I've been on more than 16 cruises and really wonder why people are so intent on getting a lounger next to the pool and then never go in the pool? So what's up?
Why do people traveling in a group feel that they are entitled to comender whole sections of the ship like they charted it
