These and the Panama Canal x2, both way Transatlantic crossings. Those itineraries are fantastic .... and I hope NCL will repeat that for winter 2023-24 so we can go! We're going on one cruise next month (Iceland & Greenland) and already have an UK trip booked in Oct and have already booked B2B Alaskan next year May.

The ship Sun might not be a big ship but the new itineraries are bloody good!

Note: the two Transatlantic crossings are not of the usual kinds - the eastbound one is in Nov (when other ships do the westbound) and the westbound is in April (when other ships do the other way).

Yea the opposite directions of transatlantic voyages are really unusual.

Off topic but I will be on the next Greenland cruise after you (25th July)!

  2. This was my experience before in 2019, Norwegian Dawn in New York (but I guess it does not matter which ship or port).

I booked the IX inside guarantee, and the cabin number was assigned just one day before embarkation. When I was at the pier, the check-in staff was confused as they could not find my key card. In their record, that cabin number was shown with another passenger's name, but not mine.

After around 15-20 minutes of checking, they finally managed to print the key card for me. I was able to keep the same cabin number.

But the problems were not totally solved. All of my reservation records seemed to be lost.

I did not receive the pre-book shore excursion tickets in my cabin and had to ask the excursion desk for help. My prepaid Internet package also cannot be activated, and the staff at Internet center had to fix it for me. Even my onboard credits did not appear in my account but fortunately I printed the booking confirmation for record. My NCL mobile app did not work properly either when I logged in each time, and this annoying problem lasted for the entire voyage. Also the sparkling wine for NCL members was not placed in my cabin although this was a minor issue.

I believe all the troubles were caused by the last-minute guarantee cabin assignment. The other passenger possibly booked this cabin, and was upgraded afterwards. This cabin was then assigned to me but NCL onboard system did not update the record instantly.

I was thinking of switching or canceling my upcoming cruise includes. Final payment is topayment is today and I was told by my travel agent that there's a $250 penalty for canceling. Has this always been in fact? Or is it because I'm canceling on the last day?

The "final payment deadline" and the "free cancellation deadline" is not the same date. Usually the latter is one month earlier.

For example, if the final payment deadline is June 3rd, the free cancellation deadline would be around May 3rd.

If you want to cancel without penalty, you have to inform your travel agent before May 3rd. But you can wait until June 3rd to settle the final payment.

  4. Summer is not the traditional cruising season in Asia. Cruise ships usually start coming from October, and stay until around April.

Major cruise lines tend to deploy their ships to Alaska, which is more profitable and can only operate in summer. Some other cruise ships sail in Europe in summer, and relocate to Asia in winter.

Even though the Asia cruise industry resumes back to normal after the pandemic, I don't think there will be too many choices in summer 2023 or even summer 2024 on the larger cruise ships. There will be more choices in late autumn, winter, and early spring.

  5. I believe NCL goes to Greenland for the first time in 2022, and to Longyearbyen for the first time in 2023. All these itineraries are on NCL Star.

So it is unlikely that you can find any reviews from the NCL forum at this stage. But you can try to search from the reviews of other mainstream cruise lines such as Princess, Holland America, MSC as they have sailed to there before.

There's a similar thread and a poster mentioned that it is good on CWC FCCs.  The e-mail does not indicate and it's simply generic affecting all FCCs.  Any clarification will be appreciated.

I guess some "compensation" FCCs are not qualified.

For example I have a FCC which was offered for itinerary change / port cancellation due to weather issues. The deadline is still this year.

Deadline of my other CWC FCCs are extended to the year 2049.

    I have come across CHITN10D.

Anyone any idea what that one is please.

    Thanks

    Mike

The 10% discount coupon that you have received as compensation from the previous cruise cancellation by NCL.

I am not sure if each time it is the same code. Last year it was DISC10. A few weeks ago it was CHITN10D when NCL cancelled the 2023 Getaway Baltic cruises. This month NCL cancelled the 2022-2023 Sun Asia cruises and I am waiting to see what is the code for the 10% discount this time.

Terrible itinerary.  Basically Grand Asia Pacific that doesn't even go to South Island of New Zealand.  Claim five continents but I bet they don't make a landing on Antarctica.  Not interested.

Right. They describe this as "world cruise" but the itinerary does not really circumnavigate the world.

Antarctica is likely to be scenic cruising...

  9. Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners:

On behalf of Norwegian Cruise Line, thank you very much for your loyalty and for making us your vacation of choice. We have important information regarding your upcoming sailing onboard Norwegian Sun.

As a company, we are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences, which includes taking our guests to the destination they want to visit most. Given challenging and inconsistent local travel restrictions related to the public health environment in Asia, we have made the decision to reposition Norwegian Sun from Asia to Europe to offer roundtrip itineraries to the Canary Islands. All sailings aboard Norwegian Sun from October 11, 2022 through and including April 25, 2023 have been canceled. We understand the desire to travel now more than ever, so we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

A full monetary refund of the fare paid will be automatically returned to the form of payment provided at the time of reservation. No further action is required; your refund will be automatically processed within 30 business days. You will see the refund returned to the original form of payment 7-10 business days from the processed date. The visibility of the funds is dependent on each financial institution's internal policies.

For those reservations paid via a previously issued Future Cruise Credit (FCC), 100% of the FCC used will be automatically re-applied to your Latitudes account. No further action is required; the FCC will be automatically added to the account within 7 days of the cancelation date. Additionally, we will be extending the book and sail by date of your FCC to Dec. 31, 2024.

As we share your disappointment, we have issued a 10% discount in the form of an FCC. This credit can be used through June 6, 2023 and can be applied towards any of our published sailings through December 31, 2024. If you still wish to explore the bucket-list-worthy destinations in Asia, the 2023/2024 voyages will be available to book beginning June 16, 2022. This additional FCC will be available as of June 6, 2022.

Additionally, we will reimburse any airline-imposed change/cancelation fees up to $300 USD per person. Please submit your receipts for review at www.ncl.com/case-submission.

If you are interested in selecting another sailing for your upcoming vacation, please contact us at 1-800-327-7030 or your travel professional. Guests residing outside of the U.S. or Canada should visit www.ncl.com for local contact information.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you aboard very soon.

A few years ago on a cruise to Bermuda (roundtrip from Boston), a couple from Boston were continuing on to Montreal.

There intent was to drop off a suitcase of laundry with relatives at the pier in Boston. This would eliminate one checked baggage fee for the flight home. Due to US customs regulations, they were unable to take the suitcase off the ship.

This is the first time that I've heard about this regulation. Is it because of security concerns?

Junior Suite wasnt a whole lot more but I cant see many ( any?) perks really besides the larger cabin.

    And with a bathtub.

I see there is a Silver dining area on the ship but I cant seem to get any info on that either.

Junior Suite guests can access the Silver Dining area.

Other higher categories of Suite guests can access both the Golden Dining and Silver Dining area.

I could find nothing mentioned about whether Diamonds were still being able to access the SIlver Lounge so I'm not sure about whether that is still the policy or not.

When Spectrum sailed in Hong Kong a few months ago, Diamonds can access the Silver Lounge.

I would think you would  have 3 options??

    C) cancel & get a refund of your deposit

You are far enough away from final payment that should  not be an issue

    (B) and (C) are the same.

Even only deposit is paid, they will still offer refund + 10% FCC.

Did you get other choices?  Our first cancellation email Oceania gave me 4 alternate Rivera itinerary. But the 2nd email ( 3 minutes later) they rebooked me with Rome to Monte Carlo. The other get rebooked in June out of Barcelona.

O honor the original price we booked plus OBC. Our category is on waitlist.  Hopefully, we will get upgrade.

Just wondering if I still be able to choose one of the cruise they offer.  I contact my TA but she still not get back to me.

My TA has checked with Oceania and they told us to ignore the details on the first cancellation email.

    The two options are:

    (A) Rebook to 24th Oct with same category and same price, plus USD 250 per cabin OBC.

    (B) Cancel and refund, plus receive 10% FCC (book before 11th May 2023, sail before 11th May 2024). Then you can use the FCC to rebook other voyages later.

If you choose (A) but your category is on waitlist, I hope they will arrange to upgrade you.

This week NCL said their future bookings were (I forget the exact analogy) as good as pre-Covid. Doesn’t jive w lots of cancellations……

I think this refers to Caribbean, Alaska, or Mediterranean...

No matter it is NCL or Oceania or Regent, there are a lot of cancellation from guests on the Baltic cruises.
