Thank you for replying so quickly and this is exactly the information I was looking for. I will be on a river boat, so maybe slightly less cramped. But I'm pleased to see you didn't mention having to get all dolled up for dinner (or would you say 'gussied'?) I'm not, and never have been a girly girl and am happiest in trousers and shirts, so it will be linen pants and tops, with possibly the odd linen shift dress thrown in. Might pack my pearls though! I'm used to June/July temperatures in France as we used to have a house there, so I know I will need sensible footwear for excursions and sightseeing. Thanks again K

Yes, I also have a wide variety of adaptors after years of international travel from New Zealand. I just didn't particularly want to have to pack a selection 'just in case', which was why I asked.😃 I was hoping to get a definitive answer from Aussies or Kiwis who had sailed from Australia.

Crew gratuities???? Have I got this totally wrong, but I understood that on Australian-based cruises, crew gratuities were factored into the price of the cruise, and no further gratuities were payable?

Would a bank debit card or EFTPOS be acceptable? This will be a Princess cruise out of Australia with all onboard charges in AUD. I've never cruised before, so all of this is quite daunting!

I probably won't have luggage as I'm planning on doing this trip with only cabin baggage. Will that make a difference? Presumably if I don't have luggage to contend with, I could just wait until the last passengers were scheduled to disembark??

Apologies for jumping in to this topic, but I have a similar query, but aimed at an Australian based cruise, so gratuities are not a factor. Is it possible if one does NOT have the Plus package to have wi-fi on a pay-as-you-go basis? The Plus package would not suit me as I don't drink alcohol or coffee, don't eat desserts and wouldn't be using the gym! But I would like to be able to go online if I wanted to. TIA

Hi I'm looking for recommendations for a hotel at Sydney Airport. I have an overseas early flight departure and think that a hotel at the airport would be better than having to get to the airport in time for an early check-in. I have looked online, but personal recommendation is always helpful. TIA

I am thinking of booking a Princess cruise out of Sydney later this year/early next year. My TA is currently on holiday (!) so I have been idly looking at cabin categories for the cruise I'm considering. When I try the 'choose your own cabin' option, it inevitably defaults to ' guaranteed cabin chosen by Princess' mode. Is it possible to choose a cabin so I know what I'm getting - and more importantly, where - before I pay out thousands of dollars? Will my TA have access to the available cabins? I don't mind paying more because I really don't like the idea of a lucky dip. TIA
