hiya Howmuch, just looked and Discovery is still in Cadiz i wonder if the refit has got behind. will look tomorrow to see if it sails to Malaga to pick up passengers. We hope so we should be boarding it when it docks in Barbados.
-
Yes same problem when i tried to retrieve my booking today to book shore excursions. Can only hope they fix it soon.
-
Many thanks to you all, 3 hours should be ok. only 18 days till we are out of the cold, cant wait and we will have a great time. thanks again for the advice.

HI all, has anyone passed through security at terminal 2 at Manchester Airport recently. we are trying to gauge the time we should arrive at the airport (we are due to cruise from Barbados on Marella Discovery soon.) Tui have sent an Email check in opens for long haul flights at least 3 and a half hours before take off. Are they still experiencing long delays at security or is it better now. Any info on this would be appreciated. Many thanks

HI, Rebel Rouser.
yes I see it in Cadiz. We will join the ship 22nd December in one of the renovated cabins for Christmas/new year cruise. we just dont know why its not advertised on tui site now for America in April - October.
-
HI Brummijam.
Yes mate i see all the dates ect on there but Marella website says oops no cruises found even if you only input 7 day cruise. Very strange that as I have previously seen them. We were looking at the 24 night that sets off from Barbados on the 13April. Maybe a temporary glich.

Hi, Can anyone help. I have just been looking at tui web page and see that Marella discovery repo cruise on the 13th April 23 has disappeared. Have they pulled
the American summer trip. I have also looked at the whole month of may and there is no mention of Discovery. Can anyone help with this. Thanks in advance
Graham.

all you say may very well be true, but i hope you are way off the mark. I doubt the cruise industry could survive in that kind of future.
-
hi idh2019 have Marella given you all the details and tests you would need for the repo cruise, and the cost of all that, let alone the hassle. Takes a lot of the fun out of cruising.
-
thanks Riocca for the info, it looks very unlikely that we will book this. Very sad really we are doubtful that the cruise industry can survive if this thing drags on and on.

Has anyone booked the Marella Discovery repositioning cruise 19 nights in October 2021. We would love to book it but we cant find out from tui the cost of all the tests needed for 11 different ports. Its not clear if you would need tests in all as things change almost daily. I do see that you are able to go ashore on your own now. like a lot of people if the cost is excessive or its a lot of hassle, we will leave it until next year.
many thanks

Hello everyone, my partner and I wanted to book Marella Discovery 4th December 2022 repo cruise to Caribbean(18 nights)and combine it with the Christmas/New Year cruise (14 nights). As i will take early retirement in November 2022. The lady in tui shop spent ages on phone trying to talk to someone who could help. The upshot is yes we could do it as 2 separate cruises, but it would mean that the flights from Manchester to Barbados on the 22nd of December would go down as a no show. I dont know the price of a tui flight one way but i guess it is about £400 each, also they add on 2 separate charges for choose your cabin and flight seats. I have not yet won on the lottery so i declined. We all know if I had about £900 to chuck down the drain, tui would quite happily sell those flight seats from Manchester to Barbados as a no show on my part to someone else, along with swallowing up the flight seats and choose cabin money. Why are they so inflexible, it cant be so difficult to sort, computer says no attitude. Has anyone got any insight into why this is or had similar problems. We ended up just booking the 14 night Christmas / New Year cruise. Sorry for the rant Many Thanks. Graham

hiya pensioncruiser, agree with you celebration was a great little ship, we loved it, must have been on her 5 times, sadly no more. have read all the stuff on my paperwork and i think i will in time have to ring a tui shop, i think some of the staff from shops are working from home. we should have been on dicovery 2 on 17th of march, got text saturday 14th march at 9am it was cancelled, due to prime minister of jamaica saying no cruises to dock there.we had our money refunded in the bank monday 16th march so cant complain. just listened to boris on tv, social distanceing very slowly being eased, did think i may be able to book alternative cruise for september but its looking very doubtfull. good luck with your refund
-
hi all
we booked our celebration cruise on board explorer 2 in November as we sailed across the atlantic, we were supposed to sail in September but now she is retired. the e mail I got from tui last week said now that my cruise is cancelled(no mention of them retiring the ship) options where they send voucher code 5 days after I pay the full balance 25th june. I don't want the 20% thing. so why cant tui in the e mail list the options with tick boxes so I can tick the box that says deposit refund to your card, i can then send that back and get my refund. we all don't have to spend hours on the phone to part with our cash for the balance, that's done in seconds. am I right in thinking booking on board ship is classed as booking in a tui shop and I would need to ring a shop number and not the number given in the e mail. are there any other people in this predicament with celebration this summer out of dubrovnic any info guys would be welcome

hi all, looking today on cruisemapper I can see 2 ships anchored just offshore at the top of the island 4 ships in port(one of which is marella ex 2) there are a further 5 ships anchored opposite Bridgetown, and 3 more ships close by and will soon be there. looks like at the moment at least that Bridgetown is the safe haven for cruise ships that can refuel and replenish until its determined where all these ships will be. nice little earner for the port. also the flight from Bridgetown- Manchester that normally leaves about 5pm sunday. flight radar had it leaving close to midnight last night, actually left at 2am and some say there is currently in the atlantic and due to land at 1.07 pm. I have heard reports that they are coming without luggage and it will be sent later. some are saying that there are 4 on board with covid 19. I don't know if that is a fact. well stay safe protect us all and stick by the rules of lockdown if everyone does their bit we will be through it sooner rather than later

ok all, Saturday morning 9am got e mail from tui(we booked online) cruise on discovery 2 17th march cancelled due to prime minister of Jamaica stopping flights from uk, so effectively cruise has gone west. tried to reach tui on the phone yesterday no chance got hold of them today 10. 15 am will get refund 7/10 days. did notice tui flight this morning took off for Barbados from Manchester at 10.30 some land holiday people on board I would say and bringing back cruisers from marella explorer 2. this thing will be nuts, a lot of people will loose their jobs and firms go to the wall. we can all help each other and don't panic buy

update just looked at cruisemapper and costa magica is now docked behind marella explorer 2 in port at Barbados. authorities must have give the ok. anybody know whats going on
-
hi all, my other half informed me that people on the facebook page for marella explorer 2 (now docked in Barbados change over day) say that the Italian ship has been parked all day outside of Barbados port. I looked on cruise mapper and sure enough costa magica is stationary outside the port. looking at the itinerary it is not supposed to dock in Barbados until Tuesday 10th. I know ships change ports for various reasons but cant help thinking that the ship has so far been denied entrance, maybe it has something to do with the situation in italy and the new measures just announced today. we fly out to Jamaica 17th march on discovery 2 just hope this thing don't blow up big time that soon. can only hope, don't fancy 2 weeks inside cabin and no booze to console ourselves with lol. anybody got anymore on all of this

I think sweby that you may have had the duration setting on 7 nights, I have done that myself and until I realised what was happening the dreaded oh no no availability thing comes up. as the far east cruise is only available as a 14 night duration you have to have that set in the dropdown box
-
thanks for the info and photo's Vitalsign and Kittyonions, we will have to decide what we do now on the day. we had a look on you tube at some videos at doctors cave and it looks great and margaretaville is a short distance away. whatever we do were going to enjoy. 5weeks today and we in Jamaica mon.
-
hi all, we are thinking of lounging at doctors cave beach near the cruise port of montego bay on Tuesday changeover day. its a taxi ride from the dock and I gather $6 entrance fee and same for brolly/bed or can you just chuck your towel down. I ask this cos we wont be laying there all day we want to explore around on foot after a snorkel at the beach. will it be too far to walk back to ship and is there much to see in downtown. I will be taking us dollars is it necessary to have some Jamaican dollars. any feedback would be welcome
many thanks

thanks alancruise and vitalsign that info is very reassuring, me thinks we will forego the yellow fever jab and just smother ourselves with a good deet mosie repelent lol. the only thing i would add is have they tightened up on these entry regs fairly recently and started to impose entry conditions on yellow fever, sorry for the the paranoid attitude, i guess i just want to be on top of it
-
hello everyone, I have just been to the docs to see if I need any jabs /boosters for our cruise on discovery 2 on 17th march. the nurse tells me I only need the yellow fever and I have to go to this other surgery for it. I have never had it before and at £62 a pop and we both would need it its a bit steep. my question is has anyone recently been on a cruise and visited panama ,Columbia, costa rica, belize ect and had the yellow fever jab (you get a certificate to show authorities) I have looked online and countries can refuse entry if you have not had the jab. the good thing is it lasts for life and countries since 2016 cant refuse entry, you don't need any booster or have it again. we have a full day trip booked in panama so I wouldn't want to be refused entry and marella not refund my trip because of it. anyway what has anyone else got in mind as far as yellow fever jab.
many thanks for any info from you experienced travellers. graham
