  1. LOL! The sommelier typically comes around briefly to ask if you want any wine and does not subject you to a prolonged and elaborate sales pitch, (at least not without further encouragement on your part).

However, if I had just spent an hour with the sommelier massaging my body so that I was totally relaxed before trying to sell me that $120 bottle of wine, proclaiming it to be the magic elixir that will not only relieve my pain but make me 10 pounds lighter and 10 years younger, then yes, I admit that I might have some hesitation about saying no to that sales pitch as well. :D

I'd buy it in a nanosecond and enjoy every sip. :D

  2. On the Equinox last November they did not sell wine "cards", you charged it to you ship account using your sea pass. You have the option of 1, 2 or 3 ounce pours, not a full glass. The price is based on the amount you choose and the price of the wine. We only used it once to taste an expensive cab that we wanted to purchase for dinner so I don't remember specific prices. If you go into Cellar Masters when you board there should be a sommelier in there explaining the machines. He also gave us free samples that day.

In addition to the machines you can do several wine flights from different countries which we enjoyed.

  3. The Murano wine paring dinner is a standard on their menu. We've gone several times. The last time we did not care for either of the main courses and were told we could order something else from the menu. What they did not tell us was that the wine choice could not be changed/paired with what we ordered. That was a big disappointment as the wine did not pair well at all with our entree.

We've done most of the other offerings over the years and enjoyed them all. Our last cruise was two 7 days b2b on an S class ship and most of the items posted by wineluvr were offered. We also enjoyed the Premium Wine Tasting and Walk Around the World tasting.

  4. Heh - it would be if I had actual work to do. My current job requires me to sit there and wait for the phone to ring - what I do to entertain myself when the phone isn't ringing is my business! :)

It's getting that way for my staff also. Luckily, I usually have something to do. Can't imagine spending 8 hours waiting ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
