Hello everyone. I’m enjoying all the info. and pictures coming out. I have been researching and looking to see where on Icon, the Chef’s Table will be. I understand the private table for 12 will be in a portion off of Hooked but couldn’t find any info regarding chefs table. On Wonder, it was a special table in the dining room which was very nice. Thank you for any info.

I don't believe that Icon has Chefs Table. It  has Celebration Table and Empire Club.

When I see advertisements for Mercy Ships it gets me thinking. But I don't know what the time commitment away from home would be.

You  might could also do short contracts with cruise lines as the ship doctor. I know years ago we visited with the "ships Dr." He was an ER Dr. on the west coast and was doing a 2 week contract.. Had his family on board with him. Not sure if the lines still do that but a thought.

Retirement scares me. I do what I had wanted from when I was a little kid. I don't know how I'd give it up.

I nursed for 44 years and went from sunup to moon-up everyday, It did take me a while  learn to relax and to settle into retirement but I can truthfully say it is the best job I have ever had and I  truly loved every nursing job I ever had.  Doing volunteer work for an indigent clinic our church supports will help. Hope to start that this spring.

The Promenade is something I am looking forward to seeing.  Based on the videos the Promenade looks wider than Oasis class ships.

With this being an Inaugural cruise the Windjammer will be one of the first places we will head.  I hear Inaugural cruises usually serves up great seafood on the 1st day in the WJ.  I hope it happens this time!

I am going to be making a direct line to the WJ when we board in hopes of mounds of fresh seafood. Would be wonderful to have a  seafood feast included in the cruise price.

Only the 600 plus full world cruisers are allowed to bring wine on board at various ports....as I explained to friends of ours that were quarter cruisers like us.  And they found out the wine was taken from them as they came on board.

Chocolate...no problem..,,,have brought many bars on board already.

Well a trade you a chocolate bar for a bottle of wine trick should work.🤣.

The only thing I can think of is that its deck 14 and directly under public space.

Already packed my sound machine.🤣. Ken, if time permits during your 3 day, I am interested i  how many US110 outlets there are on the vanity. From the few videos I have seen of the standard OV Balcony cabin, it looked like only one.  They certainly have all the USB ports you can use, but It appears I may need to bring my currency converter and adaptor for all my non-USB electricity needs.

    Thanks.

I was hoping the camera had a mp4 mode but as far as I can see just .mov.

I am not having any luck finding a solution to make it easy to convert.

I am sure that you have noticed that there are several posting negative things about Icon already and none have been on it!  I am sure once our thread is started there will be some that will try to stir the pot.  It's best to just try to ignore them on the review.  if they get too bad I am sure some of our CC friends will step in.  I am seeing several that are getting excited to see a review of the Icon.  Do you have plans what day you will start it?

Yes I have seen the negative comments and have made the decision that I will be positive and not bring any of my doubtful thoughts up until perhaps I get home. I do not want to come off as a RC shill but will positive through out.

I have a few more tricks up my sleeve on videos. I am about to see if my wife's computer will download, take my computer to our computer guy here in town or just buy a new camera. I also thought about just posting pics and leave the video to others. I believe you said earlier you will post yours when you get back home.

I will post Sat morning thus my practice with the Icon photos. I am posting from my wife's computer thus her handle.

That could be an issue if renting a car in port.  I know in Copenhagen (at CPH), they asked for my passport when renting a car.

This is interesting. When we were in Cartagena, Columbia in Oct on ROS, we tried to buy coffee with a credit card, but couldn't because we didn't have our passports on us. To use a CC you had to have. That might prove interesting in the next 268 days.

  9. My husband and I did the April TA this year on her. We are both Senior citizens loving retirement and loved sailing on her. I love the Solariums on RCCL ships and especially this one since it is climate controlled which is great for a TA. We also had plenty to do or nothing to do if that was our choice for the day.  There were not many children because of the time of year and the length of the cruise. The ones that were on were never in venues that we used.

Ditto, I hope that in the next couple of years that bucket list will be checked off.

Sue, I so look forward to your picture's and comments.  Safe travels and have a wonderful cruise.

Unfortunately I think Portside was a one and done.  With the concept abandoned for Wonder, Utopia and Icon I dont see them adding it to Oasis.  Mason Jar seems to be the flavour of the day.

I just hope they don't change the one on Oasis to Mason Jar but am very concerned that is the plan.

We just became Diamond members after our Anthem cruise this past April.  On past cruises we've always purchased the Deluxe Drink Package but with the 4 included drinks per day, I don't think we'll need it.  My questions is with the Deluxe package, we've ordered certain brands of liquor, such as Grey Goose and particular kinds of tequila.  We will be able to do that with the 4 drinks included with Diamond or are top shelf liquors not included?

One of the white wines that I really like is $2 over what the D voucher covers, so if I want it I just pay the additional $2.

  13. I am really hoping they don't change out Port Side BBQ for Mason Jar.. I LOVE there BBQ and have been surprised they haven't put it on some of their other ships.  We are also on The 10/24/ TA and I already have my taste buds dancing for some of their brisket and ribs ( and I am a Texan by birth, so that says a lot.

Logged in last night after someone on FB said bookings were live. Checked out the prices and showed myself to the door.

Maybe they are marketing to the Disney crowd because they aren't marketing to me. I guess I wait a couple of years on this one. I'm not paying North of 2K for a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas.

Well it was fun while it lasted.

Agree. I could take two 7 night cruises for what one 4 night would cost during the month of July 2024.  I can wait a long time before I jump on this ship with those rates.  I love the other sisters, so 7 nights it will be.

It sounds like you would like A2S to avoid close connections but then you find fault with A2S for offering long connections.

If the connections were legal they can be sold.  It's not the role of A2S to protect you from yourself.

Flight delays happen.  I'm encountering one right now on my way to a cruise with air booked through A2S.  Flight last night didn't happen so I just boarded a plane this morning and now I'm flying the day of the cruise.  If this one delays as well I won't be cruising today.  I knew the risks associated with booking the last flight of the night, the day before the cruise.

A2S cannot overcome everything the airline industry might throw at us.  I think you have the wrong expectations.

I hope you make your cruise and that we get to see some of your amazing photos.
