1. It's obvious rcl is slowing doing away with loyalty benefits. Even pinnacles Are getting it in the back. It won't be long before there are no benefits. I'm afraid that's the way it goes. Whatever they give they can take away. I wonder how much the myrId of complaints about not having enough if this and that and the a abuse of some of the benefits such as sneaking people into the diamond and concierge lounge has to do with the slow withdrawal of benefits.

  2.
Parking Doctors was safe and we did not wait on Shuttle at all on our recent trip. Half the price of the port at $8 a day. 1201 Channelside, 4 blocks North.

    Thank you.
  3. Cruise lines will always discount at the end rather than sailing with an empty cabin. The trade off has always been book early and book what you want versus waiting and ending up where they put you. Sometimes you were the windshield sometimes you were the bug. As long as the discounts came before final payment you would have to be refunded the difference. If it was after you would have an option to upgrade at the discounted price.

Looks like we could be taking more trips on NCL which is OK with me we will always go with the best deal. I think they are misjudging their demographics but time will tell.

And you really can't compare the cruise to the cost of an AI as the AI includes alcohol.

I just like that sentence -

  4. Your present TA would have to release to go to an new TA. Highly unlikely that will happen without paying a penalty at the least. Also, if it's more than 60 days since booking, highly unlikely. RCI will not accept the reason that you can get better perks from another TA as a reason to help you.

  5.
According to the official report the helmsman misunderstood the Captain's order and started turning the ship wrong. The Captain did correct him but it was too late. Might have been too late even if he had heard him correctly the first time but I don't recall if that was mentioned in report.

In another blip I read this morning, the Captain wants a new expert to look at why the ship lost power including backup power. He does not accept official report, which I think explained all that.

I don't think it's a matter of believing - I think it's another red herring in that one can be pretty sure they won't be able to verify again what he wants done.
  6. If anybody really wants to visit Egypt with the tensions around nowadays, flying in and taking a Nile river cruise may well be a better idea, or a Lake Nasser cruise, or both even.

However if you do go, the one place that will probably be unreachable is the Egyptian Museum in Cairo as it adjoins Tahrir Square, the centre for all the unrest.

Nile river cruises are also being cancelled at the moment by some companies, at least right through until October 13. They just aren't scheduling longer than that.

  7. Dad mentioned that as well...one of their employees was facing some kind of visa for $1000...sounded high but I suspect business visas cost more.

Makes me think some of my friends with dual citizenship sometimes have it a bit easier....one has a Swiss passport in addition to the US one, that has to be a pretty good combo.

It is high, as it's only good for one entry. If you are on the Brilliance and it's going to Oman then you need two visas. $2,000 is ridiculous. It's causing Canadians to cancel this cruise. I did..................wouldn't even consider it now or in the future.

  8. Royal is far more family oriented so there will usually be more children. It has more "toys" such as flow riders, rock climbing walls etc. Basically much busier than Celebrity.

Celebrity does have a children's program but nothing like RCL. I would say it is more adult oriented and definitely more upscale than RCL.

My opinion only - so no need to get fire in your eye for those who don't agree with me.
