  1. Just viewed the videos and the setup is really kind of cool. The toilet being separate from the shower is nice and the shower is huge! Also you are right as well, can’t see much through the frosted glass.  This is very interesting and was already excited but now just that much more. Something so minor but was really starting to bother me but I am ok now.

  2. So glad for all of this information 😃 Frosted glass doesn’t bother me at all but now I know “the details” will remain private, just between me and the toilet. What confused me was the curtain and I thought that surely there is more than just that between the toilet and the rest of the room. I feel much better now.  You are all awesome and much appreciated.

  3. I have read many posts about the bathroom setup for an inside cabin on Epic, cat 1C but all I seem to find are comments about the “weird” setup. Please help! What exactly does that mean? I am putting this out there but if I use the toilet and DH is in the room is there not a door to the toilet room? I am okay with the sink in the room but there comes a time when I want privacy when on the toilet 🚽 Thanks in advance for all answers

  4. Food is so subjective We were on the Fantasy the end of October and IMHO the buffet was very good Blue Iguana was great especially the taco salad Love Guys Burgers and the Deli was delicious and the soft serve ice cream was a favorite treat We did not eat in the MDR so can’t speak to that Had no idea that stock prices are lower so, at least for our cruise I don’t think there was any correlation when compared to our last cruise on CCL prior to that

We had a great time on the Epic in October sailing the Western Med. Yes, some of the initeraries are great in that region. Certainly stay opened minded and make it a great cruise!

Plus, there is a lot of great info on CC to help you prepare and plan!

    Enjoy!

You are so right and thanks for that. Yes CC is very helpful and we researched the Epic and the itinerary before booking. Unfortunately more of the reviews of the Epic are negative than positive but we are going anyway Funny thing is that the positive reviews are super positive and that is a good thing to us.

I sailed the Epic on a 7 night Mediterranean this past May with my husband and son.  Absolutely no problems whatsoever.  Embarkation and disembarkation was always efficient, timely, and easy.  It was a wonderful cruise!  Food, drinks, entertainment, and service was all very good.  We had an aft verandah, and the aft elevators were less busy than the forward elevators.  We also like to take the stairs for exercise.  My only complaint was there was long black hair on the shower wall - all week - yuck,  (I left it there to see if it would get cleaned off, and nope, it didn't), and the carpet in our cabin was stained and worn.  Also sailed the Epic on a Christmas cruise a couple years ago. It seemed busier/more full, probably due to families of 3 or 4 in many of the cabins instead of 2 people.  That also was a great  cruise!  There were 13 of us in 4 cabins, and we all had a lovely time, and everyone stated afterwards they would definitely sail the Epic again.  You can't blame "the ship" for all of these problems endured on this sailing.  Many of the issues were out of the ship's control.  NCL should have communicated the issues to the passengers that were on the ship, and to the passengers waiting to board the ship-there are alot of things they could have done instead of leaving everyone in dark.

So happy to read your post! We are sailing on Epic next May through the Mediterranean. More negative reviews than positive but this will be our first NCL sailing and the itinerary is awesome, very port intensive and the price was great.  We are going to be open minded and even with the negative reviews of the ship itself we intend to have a great time. The positives hopefully will outweigh the negatives.

This. What are some of those things?

The evening shows, the art auctions, Bingo, the trivia contests, the late night entertainment such as the comedy shows, scavenger hunts, shopping, maybe a few rounds in the casino, hanging out by the pool, relaxing in our room, visiting different lounges throughout the ship to enjoy music we like and to have a drink, the list goes on based on what is offered any particular day.  And lets not forget the food 😊 Got to eat! We have found that we have been lucky to meet up with people who we "click" with, maybe close to our age, maybe not but have the same interests as us and tend to frequent the same venues and we often meet up with them and the atrium bar tends to be a particularly friendly spot where the music is what we all like and we will just hang out with them, have a couple of drinks and socialize without the demands of having to be somewhere at a certain time.  Of course, to fully enjoy all that is offered, one has to follow a schedule, either closely or loosely and this is one of the reasons the buffet works for us because we can fit in our meal without having to be somewhere at a certain time just to eat.  Sea days are more relaxed and those would be the days when, if we choose to, we would go to the MDR instead of the buffet and often we do, but more often than not, the buffet fits us and our own schedule.

    Some don't consider it tedium.

I find a well-prepared and well-paced evening meal, with several courses, paired with good wine and conversation, to be enjoyable in the extreme.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  We have enjoyed some wonderful meals and good company in the MDR, one of our best was to celebrate our 60th birthdays, both DH and mine at the same birthday celebration.  All I am saying as well as some of the other posters is that our cruise does not revolve around meals in the MDR.

Like what please? And I'm talking about dinner.

Okay if you have to ask and dinner in the MDR is the highlight of your evening then I am sorry 😪 We both just turned 63 and we can’t do all that we want to do on a cruise and dinner in the MDR is the first thing that gets passed over.

I'm curious. When not on a ship do you consider it "tedium" also?

I agree with K32682. Nothing wrong with this opinion. DH and I often prefer the buffet because we are busy and have other things to do and don’t want to sit through the courses, don’t have time for a leisurely meal no matter where we are or where we go. Don’t care for tedium unless in the mood and have the time.

According to some posts I've read on the RC and the Celebrity forums that the evening buffets have excellent selections and the atmosphere is nice and quiet.

We have found this to be correct on our RCCL sailings RCCL is where we had the best times in the evening enjoying our meal with some of the crew who would be in the buffet dining and invited us and others to join them Not big crowds but a small intimate gathering easily possible toward the later dining time

  12. We love the buffet On our last cruise we never went to the MDR. We have been on cruises where we have been to the MDR but sometimes we just want to stay casual and that was the case on our last one. We have met the nicest people in the buffet which you can do in the MDR as well but without the time constraint in the MDR. A lot of the evening meals mirror the specialty entrees being offered in the MDR plus a lot of other choices as well We also have spent many evening meals hanging with some of the crew Some memorable meals were spent with cruise directors and other staff who go there to eat and we really appreciate the time we spent with them Had a blast and would not have been able to experience that in the MDR But don’t get me wrong there are times when a great meal is to be had in the MDR especially for special occasions such as our 60th birthday dinner which was great and the staff in the MDR made it great Could not have had the same experience in the buffet

  13. Just off the Fantasy and we did the sea turtle rescue Totally awesome and so much fun Our group rescued over 30 babies We have been to Cozumel a few times We have rented a taxi and drove around the island for $45 we have rented ATVs been to Xcaret twice (have to allow a full day for that) been to the beach and also spent a full day in town just hanging out but nothing beat this excursion Seeing the baby turtles and knowing we gave them a chance to live was so much fun and what a great feeling we experienced when done This is seasonal and we were worried we were too close to the end of the season but not the case We found hundreds of eggs but the live babies were so cute and we all had to cheer them on in their journey to the ocean

  14. Just off the Fantasy and had the best time 3rd time on a Fantasy class 2nd on the Fantasy Yep something comforting comes with the familiar surroundings Not the newest biggest brightest with all kinds of bells and whistles but ship was spotless food great Cruise director Marty was awesome and the crew and service was superior especially when compared to a couple of other ships we sailed on where the staff acted like we were a bother to have to take care of As a previous poster mentioned we too would like to have the outdoor movie but we went on this cruise for the vacation time Inexpensive trip and easy to get to We always find something to do that we have not done before and still did not get to do everything that was offered Will gladly go back

  15. Just off the Fantasy and Halloween was really celebrated in style We wore costumes Count and Countess Dracula 🧛‍♂️ and we had a wonderful time We did not know that there would be a costume contest Competing categories were junior cruisers best lady best guy and best group We were amazed at the thought and effort people put in to their costumes. KISS band won best group and did that threesome look terrific they deserved to win The crowds decided the winners Lots of extra fun and did not cost anything more

  16. What is the earliest time that we could drop off our luggage at the Port of Mobile?  We are staying at the Malaga Inn with their park and cruise package and can walk to the port from there but did not want to have to do that with our luggage.  So our thought was that we could drive to the terminal early, drop off our luggage and then go back to our hotel, park and then go hang out until our boarding time.  That way it would be an easy walk with just our carry-on bag.  What would be the earliest that we could drop off our luggage?  I looked through the port of mobile cruise terminal website but could not find hours or anything specific other than if you park, you can take your luggage into the terminal (if a ticketed passenger which we are) and then go pay and park.  Well, we have a place to park, just wanted to drop off the bags early.  I realize that we would be fighting outgoing and incoming traffic, that is why we thought we could go early, just not sure how early we can get in simply to leave our luggage.  Any thoughts on that idea?
