  1. Let's forget the smoking part for a minute, yogi. (I imagine that you are a pretty health-conscious person.)

But, the musical is about a girl who gives up her good ways and "sluts it up" - all for the attention of a boy. And the boy shuns the girl so he can look cool in front of his friends. Roger loves to moon people in public. Marty has an older boyfriend in the military - yet throws herself at Vince Fontaine. AND - let's not forget that Rizzo has a pregnancy scare.

Is the smoking REALLY the worst thing they can do? (See what I did there? Someone say you get it!)

  2. I like girly drinks - lava flow, daiquiris, etc. I'm not a beer or wine drinker. The problem is that the frozen drinks are a LOT of calories. So I'm looking for suggestions for mixed drinks for my upcoming Freedom cruise in March. R Bar made a great drink called red velvet cake but I don't think it's still on the menu.

  3. Personally we found that the bigger the ship - the bigger the "crush" of people at the WJ. Unless you're boarding first (Diamond, Plus, Suites, etc.) then the WJ will probably be hopping anyway. I agree with Bob - find one of the other venues that are open the first day on Allure (Park Cafe, etc.) and skip the WJ all together.

We've never experienced that "crush" on the smaller ships. It seems that the number of passengers a ship holds is not proportionate to the size of the Windjammer. :-)

Oh - and get a cocktail first! Always helps.

  4. We sailed on Majesty last month. We had a lot of fun. All the staff we dealt with were amazing. We had an oceanview room on deck 3. Yes, it was small but it was comfortable. We were only in our room to sleep and shower so it was fine for us. We ate in the dining room every night, the food was pretty good. We LOVED CocoCay, go down to South Beach. South Beach has a bar in the water, it was pretty cool. At night we hung out in Schooners, we enjoyed the piano player. The pool deck was fun too. I'm sure you will have a great time, if you have any specific questions, let me know. :)

Great tips! Thanks! We missed CocoCay last year on Enchantment - so we're hoping that we don't miss it this trip.

  5. Majesty of the seas is a older ship Commissioned in 1992. . She is smaller than the average ships of today at almost 74 tons. , Has 13 passenger decks and hold 2744 passengers. I found her very easy to access everything . The Ocean view rooms are on the small side @ 122 sf. When I sailed on her I usually took a slightly larger superior ocean view room at 157sf which is ocean view with obstruction. Sailed on her many many times She is a grand lady, kept spotless. I would not hesitate to sail on her again. [emoji4]

Thanks - GREAT info. Booked on a 3 night in February. I loved Enchantment - so I think I'll love Majesty.

  6.

For our Freedom cruise next month, we are back in a Promenade interior. I liked our balcony, but I think my favorite “bang for the buck” room is still the Promenade interior (unless you get an awesome deal to upgrade to a balcony).

Our favorite room on any ship will always be the Promenade rooms on Freedom!

Thanks for the review of our favorite ship! Love the pics

  7. We used the drink package 3 of the last 4 cruises - and I doubt we will cruise in the future without one. All of the bartenders we encountered (2x on Freedom and 1x on Enchantment) remembered us quickly and would have drinks ready for us almost before we made it to the bar. (Sometimes in front of others.)

It really depends on how much time you'll be spending ON the ship (or Coco Cay or Labadee.) If you'll be off on excursions - its a little harder to make the package "worth it."

  8. As a US Citizen, you dreamt the international water thing. Uncle Sam considers this as taxable earned income. Otherwise Royal wouldn't have issued a W2G.

However, the winnings can be offset by the losses. Just need the win/loss statement as documentation

Figures. For some reason I thought that RCCL didn't report that stuff to the IRS. Hey - if I'm going to dream - DREAM BIG!

Sadly, I've never had a "hand pay" or a taxable win at sea. (Not for lack of trying.)

  9. I agree, when we are a party of two, we always try to find a table for two. However, if we've gone through the entire Windjammer and can't find any tabels for two, sometimes you have no choice but to take a larger table.

Totally understandable. I would never expect someone to stand or keep walking around just IN CASE a party of 9 comes in. First come first served is the law of the land. But we've seen people visibly decide between a four top table and opt to sit at a larger table. (We even checked to see if they were waiting for other people. They were not. :( Eh - a few bad apples . . . . . )

  10. I know someone posted something about this recently - but I couldn't find it.

We're about to board Enchantment in a couple of days. I missed a call today from a 305 number and when I listened to the VM it was someone from RCCL saying that they wanted to thank us for our loyalty to Royal (4th cruise) and to wish us a very happy and enjoyable cruise.

I'm not sure WHY they are doing this . . . . and it wasn't really a call of any substance, but I must say . . . . it's kind of nice.

Not sure why they called me and not the other registration linked to mine (my sister) but they didn't. It could be because we have the same last name - and they thought we were a couple. (:o) Either way - it was a nice touch. I would have PREFERRED that the upgrade fairy call me - but we've got a couple (or 100 nights at sea) before that happens.

Anyone know what prompted this or has this been going on all along and we were just the randomly selected people?

  11. Whatever the payout...play for fun, not to win money. Whatever payouts you're used to in land based casinos, these slots will be colder. Of course some will come out ahead...we have too. But, if you play long enough...the house odds rule.

AMEN! We feel the same way. It should always be fun. If you're losing and losing and losing, switch machines - or come back later.

Oh - and never, ever play more than you are willing (and able) to lose. We leave our ATM and credit cards in the room (a little different on cruises with your seapass card - but you know what I mean.)

You'll have to go back to the room and get them - and that might be enough time to rethink losing more money.

  12. Having travelled on FOS twice now, I can't say we've ever had a horrible experience. However, I do have ONE gripe - and it's not with RCL.

There are only a FEW tables in the Windjammer for larger parties. (I'm talking about my family of 9 - including kids, grandparents, etc.) If you have a party of 2 or 3, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't take up a table that's meant for large parties. I know it's a lot to ask - and it might mean that you sit a little closer to people. I don't mind pushing a table or two together - even carrying chairs across the dining room. It's very frustrating (and my OWN issue - I know) to see 2-3 people sitting at a VERY large table. iIt's a free country and we can all do as we please - but it might make someone happy.

    Rant complete.

Now - can I put my towel on a deck chair at 6 am while I go to yoga. I promise I'll bring a couple of drinks back on my shared drink package. It should only be a couple of hours! :p:D

  13. It is your imagination and one of the older "urban myths" of cruising... that is that slot payouts decrease during the week. It's just not practically possible. Some friends and I shared a catamaran excursion with some of the ship's dealers and a casino manager a few years ago... and we had a good laugh about this one. :D

Actually - it is practically possible. All of the slot machines (even the old style) are linked by the casino's computer. Watch as they turn all of the "different slot machines" into the SAME game for a slot tournament. Because of this they CAN adjust the slots to be tighter or more loose, it's merely software.

I can't say with CERTAINTY that it happens - but after 4 years in Casino Royale and a great deal of money won and lost - we found it to be true. (3 different people - playing with different sea pass cards, betting the same, same time of night, same duration, all variables controlled.) ALL 3 people were way up on the first and second nights of the cruise and it went down from there. We come with gambling money set aside and we know our own limits - so it's not all about the money. It actually pays for our next cruise. But the same routine on all cruises - first couple of days we're up, then we go back to breaking even.

Regardless - for us it's about fun, a couple of drinks and people watching. :)

  14. Shooters are included, but they don't come around anymore. You have to ask.

ALSO - with the shooters, make sure you let the cocktail server know that you do not want the souvenir shot glass. That is not included in ANY of the packages - and if you don't specify they WILL charge you. But you can just get the "shot of the day" - if they still offer them. :-)

  15. So there you have it, I've finally revealed the disenchanting part of this cruise. I imagine that after all that build up and waiting it's a bit of a let down, but I assure you the experience was much more frightening at the time than the retelling of it might sound.

After this experience Will has said it will be a long time before I can get him on another cruise (likely 2017) and never again will he go anywhere involving a tender. Can't say I blame him on that one. :)

That's it for tonight; I'll be back tomorrow to wrap up day 3 and finish this all up. Thanks for sticking with me!

I'm usually skeptical when someone says that they were disenchanted with their cruise. However, as someone who is pretty terrified of DEEP water - I would probably have had a heart attack. That's a pretty major issue - and it would certainly color my opinions of tender ports as well.

But I am glad to hear that it wasn't a "bad service" or "inedible food" issue that made you disenchanted with the cruise. (As I am about to board Enchantment myself.)

Glad to hear that everyone is okay and that you still had a good time.

The pictures are wonderful! Thank you for them and thank you for your review!!

  16. Hello. I'll be on your cruise Feb 26 and you will see me at the roulette table lol. Vivian is the host. There are a couple of really good bar servers. Corrine will definitely be onboard. Jessica may still be on vacation..both are really good, especially for a couple of bucks every other drink.

This will be my 16th time on this ship. I've never had a bad experience!

Awesome - thanks for the info. I think my sister (EllaDuChein) is thinking of taking your walking tour. (Am I right?)

Glad to hear that you like the ship enough for 16 cruises! We're really looking forward to it. First cruise with out any kids - whom we love dearly - but now we get to focus on relaxing! :)

Look for two bald guys in the casino!
