  1. I'm a lay preacher so you do the music and I'll do the sermon. Kay
  2. Thanks to Rob for helping me onto this site. I did a tour of Sri Lanka last year and was delighted with the kindness and assistance from everyone - locals, fellow tourists and all. Gave me the courage to try an 8 week trip to US and Canada from Australia next month. Try and remember everything you might possibly get wrong with you. We all caught a nasty dose of bronchitis on a South America/ Pacific cruise and the ship's hospital cost a fortune. I could have dosed myself up if only I had some ginger etc. That was on Oceania. It was still an incredible trip. The penguins at Falklands were gorgeous. My husband was still alive for that trip.Kay
  3. I know that all cruises do not allow a kettle in your cabin for safety reasons. Same with candles, irons etc Kay
  4. From my cruising experience, as soon as you board you are in US, including being on US internet, so all calls are from Miami to wherever you are calling to, including Brisbane. Been caught before.. Kay
  5. So that's two of us Linda. You might recognise me from my portrait. How does the Limelight Lounge sound for a location? Kay
  6. No answers to my Meet and Greet suggestion. I suggested we meet at 5pm on the second day of the cruise. What does everyone else think? Kay
  7. I checked the distance and it will take 10 minutes from airport to cruise terminal. It's all out of the city centre so should be quiet. I'm taking a taxi. My flight from Canberra arrives in Brisbane at 11am. Let's hope my luggage arrives with me. I think we should meet on the second afternoon. at 5pm.. But where on the ship? Kay
  8. Oh my goodness. I'm assuming you are joking; otherwise you have a culture shock ahead of you. We have millions of kangaroos but you can't keep one. You can pat it if you find one though. Unless you are out in open country you are unlikely to see one except in the zoo. Have fun trying. Kay
  9. Let's hope the cyclone season is over before we go. Luminosa had to cancel ports of call because of cyclone last week. Better than sailing into one. Kay
  10. Sounds like there are a couple of soloists amongst us so we can keep each other company. look forward to meeting everyone. Does anyone know if they have lectures etc on Carnival? I am no longer young enough to party all night and sleep all day. Kay
  11. HI ALL. Good to be planning a cruise again. I'm also cruising East Coast US/Canada and Alaska with HAL so i will be away from home for seven weeks. Wonderful. re Papeete I think the market is right by where we dock so think I'll do that. Everyone is still moaning about the high price of Tahiti, so I'll be lying low. Kay
  12. Has anyone given thought to Papeete excursions yet? We were there a few years ago but went straight from the terminal to the airport for a long hot boring wait. At least we won't have to worry about luggage. It's 40 years since I was in Noumea or Suva. They will have changed a bit. Kay
  13. Widowed last year, I can finally do the cruise we were supposed to do in 2020. Hoping to meet lots of new friends as we go. I will be doing two other cruises in Canada and Alaska. re Australia and regulations, if you are fully vaxed you will be fine. Kay
