  1. I am on SeaDream in March 2018 (our first cruise with SD) and live on the island of St John USVI and was on island for Irma. Evacuated last week on Wednesday to PR the plane to Richmond VA with our 2 dogs and a cat in tow and then a 20 hour drive to Kansas City to be with family while we regroup.

Total devastation on St John, Tortola and most of the BVI's - for those of you who know Mic from Soggy Dollar I finally spoke with him yesterday and he has now checked in as safe so that it a relief after not hearing from him when others were checking in.

  2. Good day everyone,

We were scheduled on Azamara for my birthday next year but they just changed our dates and itinerary (thanks Azamara) and are now wanting to book on SeaDream 1 out of St Thomas (we live on St John so it is a perfect location for us) but the cruise is designated as a "Club Voyage" - can anyone tell me what that mean please as I have searched and nothing is coming up.

    Thank you

  3. This is a "river" cruise...yes? There is an entire forum dedicated to "river cruising" on this site! It may be worth your while to check it out!

River cruising is totally different from other ocean cruising!

No this is a Caribbean cruise (ocean not river) on their newer ship :)

  4. Hi everyone - having never sailed on Viking before can anyone shed some light on the average age of passengers on Viking cruise lines ?? We are frequent cruisers with Azamara and Celebrity so just wondering if Viking is the same - looking at a possible sailing on the Viking Sun.

Maybe age is the wrong term to use really more the activity level - I know many a 75+ with great zest for life - biking, hiking, adventure seeking etc (and can drink me under the table lol) and I know many that are happy snoozing in one spot all day. I believe the Viking line are geared more towards the 55 and over age group but is it a relaxed sleepy crowd or a "lets have a great time" active crowd.

Thanks everyone for any help you can give.

  5. Hahaha - well the plan for Virgin Gorda (because I have done the Baths many times) is that we have rented a car and will go to Savannah Bay early then possibly Mad Dogs for an early lunch (we were thinking of Hog Heaven but I have eaten there many times and not sure on such a short port day I want to go back) and then hit Devils Bay or Spring Bay (maybe) Because we live on St John we are used to driving on the left and navigating the roads so driving for us is not of a concern.

Some of our friends we are traveling with are going to do the Baths - originally with the ship tour but I convinced them taxi is the easiest (and cheapest) so they can maximize their time and then catch lunch at the Top Of The Baths or even meet with us at Mad Dogs.

I really wanted to go and spend the day at Saba Rock but we leave so early I'm not going to risk it.

So there you have it - VG sorted out :)

  6. Very easy to get around on St John - island tours take 1.5 hours for a cost of $25.00 per person on a taxi - they are open air and hold 15 + people (you will be on the same taxi's if you book through the ship) Great hiking, beach snorkeling, fabulous beaches but do know all beaches are within the National Park so no facilities except the world famous Trunk Bay (Cinnamon does but they are currently under construction and have not reopened yet - the beach is great but no facilities), cute shopping etc.

Taxi to Trunk bay is $6.00 per person (7 minutes from where we tender) and entrance fee is $4.00 per person always taxi's available. Trunk will be the busiest but they are (currently) the only one with limited facilities.

Happy Hour - almost every bar is great.

Have fun and hope this helped

  7. Good afternoon - does anyone know where on Virgin Gorda we anchor please - we have been many a time on day trips from St John (our home) and on a week sailing on a 60' cat so just trying to figure out where we arrive so we can plan our day (not interested in The Baths) We would love to go to Saba Rock but thinking it's too far.

Thanks for any help ~ Piaa

  8. Hi everyone

    So I just read this....

"Concierge Class #1634 was spectacular and awesome. The only item which should be noted if you're interested in this room is that there is a camera mounted on the top edge of the veranda which looks down the starboard side of the ship. Most of what one does on the veranda can be seen on this camera"

OK so I am seriously freaking out - am I really going to be on camera when I'm sitting on the balcony ?? (can't be true can it ?) can anyone settle my nerves (we leave in 1 week)

    Thanks again
