  1. My husband and I are flying into Orlando on Wednesday for a Saturday Cruise.  We are picking up a car at the airport and dropping it at their port location.  Has anyone done this?  The message says that they have free transportation to the port every 25/30 minutes.  We have a 10am check-in for our cruise and wonder what time we should drop the car to make it there.

I was wondering about your experience.

    TIA!

Can you do a screenshot of this? I just searched his FB page and am not finding anything stating this.

I never seem to find anything of note on John's page.  I'm convinced that someone feeds him the most outlandish comments and questions.

Could be even worse - the westbound December 2022 crossing had an issue with the tides coming into New York, according to the captain. He said our estimated time under the Verrazano bridge was 3:30 AM, with the Statue of Liberty coming up shortly thereafter. Decided not to get up for this particular experience (our sixth crossing on QM2).

I was awakened around 3:30 AM, most likely by the change in noises coming from the ship, glanced out the window to see where we were in relation to the bridge and noted that we were pulling up to the Brooklyn dock. Probably would have had to be out at around 2 AM or so for the bridge.

I think that often ships get in much earlier than advertised.  After all they have to get all that luggage off and supplies on!

Sorry, the OBC is the same no matter how many shares over 100 you have. I've never seen a form. I just fax or email a cover note and copy of the proof of ownership.

Yes, that's what I've experienced.  She said that someone at Cunard told her that but I thought she was mistaken, although hoped otherwise.  I attached the form that Cunard uses.

  5. I just booked the Caribbean Celebration for 12/22/2024.  My travel agent sent me Cunard's form to request OBC and it says to do it with in 6 months of sailing and no later than 2 weeks before sailing.

I know with my 200 shares that I get only one benefit, at least on HAL and Carnival but my TA thought I'd get double.  I don't think so but am I wrong?

I "think" we are doing the QM2 for the holidays, 12/22/2024 for 12 nights Caribbean.  I hope the only thing we'll miss over a TA are the dogs.  This will tick 4 items off my wishlist. 1) QM2 herself, 2) Holiday Cruise, 3) St. Lucia, 4) Barbados.

I post once we decide and put a deposit down.  My travel agent is holding it until we can discuss it.

AND we did it!  AND we will see the statue of Liberty too! And not at 5am in the morning!

When sailing on Rotterdam, it's important to get a stateroom pretty far away.  I thought we'd be safe from Music walk with our last cruise on RD, but the boom boom boom of the music was still heard.  It was not enough to drive us nuts, but I made note that next time on RD, we need to get a stateroom even further away.

    Where were you?  What deck?

Seen on the Dress Code - Theme Calendar 2023 that CC Member Bluemarble is posting for the QM2 it shows October 22 2023 to November 15 2023 Refit.

He must have some insight of activity taking place to the QM2...

Thank you!  Since I've been wanting to go on a TA forever, do you think I'd be happy to experience the British Isle on QM2 instead?

  10. With the schedules out for the Queen Mary II in 2024 and all the comments I've read about how she needs a facelift, was a drydock scheduled?  And if so, what will be done?

I wanted to do a TA from Southampton to NYC but now think we may do the British Isles cruise.  I just hope we can get a taste of what a TA would be.

    Thanks!

  11. We went last August.  It was wonderful but unless you have covered seats make sure you have good raingear.  Umbrellas are not allowed.  We were soaked to the skin even with raincoats and they don't cancel for rain.

    I would go again!

Snorkelling from beach is very poor.

For first visit, take an island tour.  There are many available but Annie’s would be a good fit.

    https://anniescaribbeantours.com

Next visit take a Catamaran sail/snorkel to Nevis with lunch and drinks included

Then, on subsequent visit spend the day at the botanical Gardens. (Don’t forget the  free rum tasting which is hidden away at the back of the “shop”)

From then on, take a genteel cruisers day pass at the Marriott.  No T’erds

But, if wishing a more lively beach vibe, the Discovery Beach Bar.  No T’erds.

    Thanks for this info.

I'm happy for you that you enjoyed your meals on the Pride. Having said that I can very honestly say with 100% confidence that the food was not as good as other Carnival ships, much less other cruiselines.

I was on the Pride for 31 days from the middle of May to middle of June. Just two weeks prior to boarding the Pride I was on the Mardi Gras for 14 days. And 7 weeks prior to the Mardi Gras I was on the Celebrity Reflection for 9 days. Overall the Mardi Gras prepared the food to a much higher standard than the Pride. And the food overall on the Celebrity Reflection was to the standard of the steakhouse on the Pride, or Rudi's on the Mardi Gras.

I think it may have improved over summer.  My TA was on the beginning of July and said that the food was as good as in a prison, not sure how he knows!  BUT we were on August 12 and it was fine!  I don't expect gourmet food on Carnival but just GOOD food!

  14. My husband and I are mid-60's and have never been to St. Kitts.  We like snorkeling but I am not a strong snorkeler.  We usually like to do a mixed tour our first time visiting an island, that includes sightseeing and water.

    Any suggestions?

    Lesley
