Working dogs are  well disciplined and you barely know they are there.   The training is amazing and thorough.   They will never approach you and should not be petted.   They will sit quietly by the owner, never bark at the folks walking by or beg for food.   They will not sit on furniture....for starters.

Agreed. So many people take their pets on as "emotional" support animals.

We did sit with an adult woman who had a baby doll/carriage she brought to dinner.  After we got to know her she left the baby in her cabin.

Hey now, I got suites booked for my next two cruises, I better have my two bottles of water and free laundry or I'm never sailing Carnival again, never mind that I got a great rate and saved enough to by tons of water bottles and do lots of laundry. I need to feel special dang-it. I guess I should call and speak to a manger about those luggage tags you mentioned also. 😁

We just got off a 6 day Legend cruise.  They gave us 2 of the big bottles of water but you had to pick them up at a bar.  We did the free laundry, once-which was enough. I do miss the nicer gifts but we got cozies for drinks and I got one luggage tag at the Photo Shop.  The manager said passengers had been throwing the luggage tags back at them, when offered.  That's just sad.

We have received the final hospital bill.

$15,000 USD (in total, including the $10,000 we already paid).  Honestly could have been so much worse and that is well within our coverage amount.

We got a detailed bill. Allianz has also asked for doctor names and diagnoses and it does not look like the detailed bill includes all that (at least not the Dr Names) so we will have to see how that can be obtained.

Wow, what a deal!  My dh passed out in January and after hours in the ER and a 2 nights stay his bill is topping $40,000.  Thank goodness for insurance.

  4. Finally Carnival did something right!

I was booking some specialty dining for my next cruise (Panorama, 4/2 for my BIRTHDAY!) I had a lot of OBC to use and was kind of frustrated that I couldn't use it for my pre-cruise purchases but it gives you that option now! Yay, Thanks Carnival!

  5. Carnival had months of expenses with no income.  Consider the savings between your VIFP rate and the regular deals your OBC, for now.  Once they get all their ships sailing again and are showing a profit, if they continue denying OBC I will be upset.  For now I'm just glad I can cruise!

Oh, and don't sell you stock just because of this-for now.

I can't see where that is Carnival's fault.

Did I every say it was?? I either wasn't told or didn't pay attention when faced with the non-refundable fare. Either way, live and learn, I will never get a fare that can't be changed in the future!

  7. I told my TA NEVER book a rate like this again.  She told me to stop looking at the deals Carnival is sending.  The cabin that is next to ours I could have booked last night for $189 instead of the $349 we paid.  I'm just sick and 1/2 hope I test positive on Monday so I can cancel and rebook later for a longer cruise!

  8. I booked a "cheap" cruise on a guarantee for a balcony.  I was given a good cabin but now I could get a rate that is $75.00 cheaper but I have a non-refundable rate and I've been told that because it's non-refundable I can't change it.  Can't get OBC, can't get a refund for the difference.  It doesn't seem correct but is it?

    TIA

Over on Zuckerberg's folly in the HAL friends group they were talking about hiding rubber ducks on ships for people to find, anyone heard of it? I never have. But apparently it's been going on for awhile.  It might be something from when there's more children on board, I don't know.

***No doubt some of you will surely hate the idea or the discussion, so turn those frowns upside down, we can have some fun here.

No, please no.  That's a Carnival thing.  🤣 And I don't even participate when I sail Carnival!

  10. I have flown in the day of when there were many flight choices like from DCA to MIA, at the time there was a flight almost every hour.  My sister and I are cruising out of Port Canaveral in 4 weeks for a short "cheap" cruise and we were going to fly in that morning.   Then I started hearing the horror stories mentioned above, so we re-booked the day before.  Our cruise is not a cheap trip anymore(transfers, hotel, meals, etc) but we have a chance to make the ship!

If you were previouly 4062 - 4090 I think your new cabin will actually be much better. In this class of ship there have been numerous complaints about noise in thos cabins on port side. I know of people that said their stateroom vibrated well past midnight sometimes. They are not having that problem on the starboard side. My guess is HAL is doing you a big favor.

Lisa, I'm beginning to think so, too!

I admit to some curiosity as to why this was done.  If your cabin was an "accessible" cabin then it is understandable (somebody else posted this same comment).  But otherwise there does not seem to be a good reason.  It is not like there are big battles to get partially obstructed cabins.  Most who book that kind of cabin are hoping for a free upgrade to an unobstructed cabin and I would push the travel agent to give that another try.  The basic plea that you got screwed out of your carefully chosen cabin and the least they can do is give you an upgrade is a reasonable argument.  We have used this strategy (with a different cruise line) with some success.

Hank, I don't know.  I will try this but right now the ship is not selling at all.  I don't know if that means they capped the number of passengers or if the ship is full.

It does not make sense to move you to the same category from the port to starboard side.  The only thing I can think of is perhaps they needed a triple occupancy VH cabin for a family or group and yours happen to be one of the few in that category.

Also, did you originally book a guarantee?

    Nope, no guarantee.

This is a very good comment and observation and if HAL is blocking some staterooms the ones on the port side over the Queens Lounge is the ideal place to do that. It could very well be they are not selling those cabins due to the noise level which was why the OP was moved.

Lisa, thanks for that!  I wish I knew!  Someone on another thread posted a picture of the view from an obstructed balcony over the lifeboat and I'm begging to think it may not be so bad and I should drop it.  They may be doing me a favor but how would I know?

On the other hand, when they design ships with all the CAD software why don't they take sound management into consideration.  Not just HAL but all the cruise lines?
