  1. There is not. The convention center spans a few blocks along the boulevard starting at Julia and heading upriver toward the Crescent City Connection. No way to cut through it.

Is this walkable with someone with 2 knee replacements? We are staying at the Hampton Inn Convention Center? We are hoping to travel with only one carry-on suitcase each..

    Thanks

    Lesley

  2. You need to be able to pick up your own luggage. I only had one suitcase and a small bag. I wouldn't bring more than that. Expect to have no room on the luggage racks to put your stuff. I had to stand in the door area with my bag. Don't expect anyone to help or move for you to sit either. Where I exited from the silverline, I had to walk across the street to Yotel, but that's easy enough to figure out once you are outside.

I thought I read that the stop is under the hotel??? Courthouse stop? Do you have to ring a bell for the bus to stop?

  3. What airline are you flying in on? The bus stops at all terminals, so a "crowded" bus may empty out as you proceed around the airport.

Ridership varies a lot on the Silver Line. It can be very crowded or it can be empty or somewhere in between. I always advise getting on the rearmost door because there is more space there. You can always take a deep breath and wait for the next bus or you can take a cab or call Uber or Lyft. Lots of options.

    We are flying United.

  4. At Logan Airport the Silver Line stops at terminals A, B, and C on the luggage claim level (lower level or "arrivals" level. At terminal E it stops out front to the left (only one level). For the Yotel you do get off at the Courthouse Station.

The bus should be uncrowded (always get on the rear door with luggage). People are friendly and will help.

We are flying into Boston about 10am on Friday and staying at the Yotel. We are going on a cruise on Saturday so we will have several pieces of luggage. Is this manageable on the bus?

It sounds easy we just get on a Silverline bus and get off Courthouse Station and the hotel is right there???

    thank you

  5. Miss G,

We will be following you on Saturday. We are cruising on the Rotterdam out of Boston. It's been fun reading your Not Quite Live! reports.

Our friend's Pete and Karen Brown are sailing with you. It's hard to miss Pete, he's very tall and slender, both he and his wife are in their mid-upper 50's. If you see them, say hi!

In the meantime thanks for the posts!

  6. One of the best cruises we ever had was back on Miracle when she was brand new and sailing out of Baltimore (yes Baltimore) but we have been hesitant to go back to Carnival following all the reports and videos of bad behavior on the ships.

I’d be grateful for an honest assessment from recent cruisers - does Carnival deserve its new reputation ?

I don't cruise during holidays, spring or summer break. Never seen any problems.

  7. I work at Miami and was instructed by our supervisors to tell guests that all rooms (even for Priority and FTTF) would be ready at 1:30.

I asked my supervisor if they were sure and if it was going to be just for that specific day, and they said “the ship has instructed us that all rooms will be ready at 1:30 from now on”

I’m not a new employee, have been working in Port of Miami for 10 years!

Could it be a way, as mentioned in other posts, to prohibit those who don't have early access to cabins. Unless you KNOW you can, they aren't telling. The ship may have told the port staff that to prevent extra people in the cabins and corridors before 1:30pm. Is the port staff, Carnival employees or the ports employees? Don't you check people in for what ever cruise line is at your pier on any given day?

  8. I'm sailing soon and did call about the laundry room. I wonder why HAL has so much trouble with the self-serve laundry that other cruiselines don't, or maybe they do? Don't know.

Anyway, we will take advantage of the $20 laundry bag at least once.

  9. I love, love, love "Live From..." Threads! thank you so much for taking the time to do this!

What is this and is it available on all ships?

We booked the tour using the new Navigator app which worked really well. After the talk, there were long line ups at the EXC desk. There were only five seats left on the tour we wanted and I was able to snag two of them on the app with no waiting in line!! Love the app!!!

    thank you!

  10. We are getting ready to sail our 3rd HAL cruise. The first was a Caribbean cruise and before airlines started to charge for luggage and I think my hubby took his tux. The 2nd was Alaska and although we dressed well it was not formal. We are cruising for our anniversary in 2 weeks and I'll be taking dressy cocktail dresses and due to airline restrictions hubby opted to rent a tux. :):D:D

In the future I can see us moving to a more smart casual look. I'm successfully cruised for a week with just a carry-on but not for this trip.

  11. Okay now lets see if I got this correct. You are getting the emails. But they have her info. Sounds to me more of a computer clitch then anything. Most likely what happened was some how when you cruise together her name was listed first on the booking. We get the same thing I gent emails almost daily from carnival with my wife's info. She gets almost none. Our cruise history is the same.

We did a cruise in January. I had my email on the bookings since I was planning the trip but not paying for my and son and DIL. I keep getting emails for my DIL. Same deals. I generally don't pay attention to them because we are booked out until April 2020.

  12. We get into Boston Logan around 10am. I was thinking of taking our luggage to the airport and then heading over to the Constitution. Saturday in the morning I was thinking of doing a morning tour with a drop off at the ship. We did that in Seattle and it worked out great.

The only problem I see is missing lunch in the dining room upon boarding. :(:(On Caribbean cruises I like to board as early as I can because my cruise starts when I cross the threshold of the ship. Not so important for this itinerary.

  13. We are cruising on the Rotterdam in a couple weeks from Boston to Montreal. There was a picture review from last April and brought up some questions.

    1) Do you need to pre-register for the ATK classes? Where? Is there a fee?

    2) Do they offer the IT/Windows classes on the NE/Canada cruises? Do you need a reservation and is there a fee?

    3) How many times a week do they offer tea?

    thanks for your help!

  14. We are departing from Boston and wanted to get some recommendations for pre-cruise hotels. We are flying in early on Friday and cruise Saturday afternoon.

I was thinking of sightseeing Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. My husband has to see the USS Constitution.

    Thanks!

  15. Thank you!

    And a couple more questions:

I saw that these items are Mariner Benefits:

Join us for any cruise and return a Star Mariner. You'll feel the special treatment as soon as you come aboard as our way of saying, "Welcome back!" As a Star Mariner, you'll receive:

    • Mariner Welcome Onboard Lunch
    • A special collectible gift presented to you on board
    • Mariner Brunch with complimentary sparkling wine

Is the "Mariner Welcome Onboard Lunch" upon boarding or on a seaday?

And do you get an invitation to the Mariner Brunch?

    Thanks again!

  16. We are sailing her on Sept. 22nd. I have looked through FAQ's but still had some questions.

    1) Does the ships laundry do a special? Like one bag washed and folded for $ x amount?

    2) If not does anyone have a picture of the laundry ticket with costs?

    3) Does the dining room still offer lunch upon boarding and is there a cost for it?

    4) Do the cabins have refrigerators?

    5) Can you still make a reservation for cooking classes upon boarding? Where?

    Thank you so much!

  17. Yes, you can email your request. Just ask for a response email back for confirmation.

I just did this today and although they accepted it it was with a request NOT to email it. Moving forward, per the Carnival Shareholder Benefit policy, the proof of CCL stock ownership must be sent via fax to 206-270-6080 or sent by regular mail to 450 Third Ave. West, Seattle, WA 98119.

  18. Here's the new shareholder's benefit information from the latest annual report.

It is for sailings through July 31, 2019 and per Holland America: Moving forward, per the Carnival Shareholder Benefit policy, the proof of CCL stock ownership must be sent via fax to 206-270-6080 or sent by regular mail to 450 Third Ave. West, Seattle, WA 98119.

I emailed my request. And won't again.

  19. If you want to send out your laundry learn to roll everything. Can get much more stuff in a bag.

Watch what you send out they wash everything of yours in a net bag (with others) n very large machine in very hot water and stuff has been known to shrink

Or Bleed! I washed a new blue skirt with my husband National's red shirt. Thank goodness the blue came out when I treated it at home.
