I just realized that you could probably find this tour option on the HAL website.  But rather than try to explain how, it is easier to retype the tour here:

    Iceland on horseback:  2.5 hours

Excellent opportunity for horse experts and novices alike to enjoy horseback riding on the famous breed of Icelandic pony.  This excursion is accompanied by an expert rider, and takes you through scenic and interesting areas of farmland and valleys.  All necessary riding gear is supplied.  Notes:  Maximum weight is 220 lbs. Min. are is 8 years. $159.95

    thank you!

Today was a rainy and cold day in Djupivogur, Iceland.  We were on a tour of 18 people to see the Hoffellsjokull Glacier.  We drove for two hours in the rain to get there, spent about an hour at the glacier without rain, and drove two hours home with rain most of the time.  So we were very lucky with the weather.

Now we are cruising WSW around the southern coast of Iceland.  According to the Captain, ships are required to stay away from some of the southern coast to protect the environment.

Photos of glaciers and horses later.

I'd love to ride an Icelandic horse!

Do you have the tour excursion book for this cruise?

  3. Dave,

I love your day by day and now that I've caught up with you I'll go read Santerra's!  😂

I was wondering if you noticed how much a night's stay on the old Rotterdam is?

It seems that you do many port calls on your own.  Is that because you've been there before or just like to be independent?

Thank you so much for your time and effort doing this for us!

Our 37 day cruise begins next Tuesday, July 30th in Boston!  I'll be posting updates and a few photos, mostly of ports.

I'm encouraging other Roll Call members to also post interesting information about the ship, as well as cruise and port highlights.

You are all welcome to come along with us!   And please post any questions or comments you might have.

Thank you for doing this for us!  We hope to do this trip, in the future.

This thread just made JHs FB page. Someone doesn't want Carnival to allow people in the MDR in costume.

Oh, FFS!!!  I think my sister and I dressed up after dinner.  As long as the costume wasn't inappropriate I don't see a problem.  Dressing up outside of Halloween, I wouldn't do. But that's just me.

My hubby wants me to answer for the Platinum gift...."if I say it will ruin the surprise".    I say, if it is a bit chilly you might receive something to help warm you up.

We had escargot despite a week or so early saying they would not have escargot.

No full brewery or at least not one as obvious as Vista class.  Husband is confident if there was a brewery after 7 days he would have found it.

It does help!  thank you!  I think my husband will be disappointed with the gift and the beer situation.  It's all good through!  WE ARE GOING ON A SEA CRUISE!!!!

  7. We are sailing on Sunday, Western itinerary and although I've looked I decided just to ask you some questions.

    1) Do they usually board on time.  I have 11:30am check-in and was planning to get there about 11am

    2) What is the Platinum gift these days.

    3) I saw that they are still serving escargot as of a couple weeks ago.  Are they still?

    4) Do they have a full brewery on board?

    5) What time do the generally do self-assist departure?

any thing we NEED to do on this cruise?

Once there was a snail who was tired of being slow. He went out and bought a really fast sports car and had the dealer paint a big 'S' on each side of it.

Whenever someone saw him zooming past in his new car, they would say, "Hey, look at that S-car go!"

Saint Greg, you stole my joke!  Well, it's close, very similar.  And I've been telling mine for 40 years!!!  Anyway, no more escargot on the ships for now!  I'm sad!

    Excursions

    Belize:

In Belize there's a lot of zip lining and cave tubing and snokeling. We've already talked about getting wet. I don't think after a long night at the Alchemy and a small amount of sleep that slinging myself through a jungle on a zip line is a very good idea. So I hear these Lamanai ruins are a good thing to see. A bit pricey through Carnival at $124.99. And it's a six hour tour going outside of Carnival which seems a bit risky. So I look over on the Belize board and see people have been off and on getting price matches from Carnival for this one tour over the past year. At first they were getting the 110% refund on the full difference. Then for awhile people were getting denied. The most recent ones had people getting approved but at a higher rate than the competitor's excursion..Which is what I got. I purchased the carnival excursion at $124.99, submitted the price protection form, and I'm getting $32.99 OBC. That brings the cost down to $92. I also booked the excursion using my Carnival Mastercard which gives me a 10% statement credit on Carnival excursions. That gave me another $12.50 bringing the cost down to $79.50.

Add that $32.99 OBC to the $75 I got from the travel agency and that should cover my gratuities and the tax on some of my mississippi river drinks.

For anyone interested in booking this excursion and submitting the price protection form here is the link you need to send them and the response I received.

    Hello Gregory,

Thank you for submitting a Shore Excursions Best Price Guarantee claim.

We are excited to inform you that your claim was accepted and your account will have an onboard credit of $32.99. You may print out this email for your records and proof of this onboard credit which will only show once aboard the ship.

Although your claim was accepted it was approved under the $95.00 rate per guest.  Our tour launches from an exclusive Ayinha property built solely for efficient access to Lamanai. Ayinha reduces down the overall travel time by motor coach & boat transfer by 2 hours to reach the Lamanai ruins. This provides the time for guests to actually climb the temples, providing the experience of a lifetime. Ayinha day admission is USD $20.00 per person, and includes a fusion of Belizean cultural along with Belizean Lunch Buffet.  This $20 entrance fee has been included to make the tours comparable.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

I have never heard of the Table as something for which you are accepted or rejected. Now, you can be dumped from an early signup because certain people aboard want to go, but that is not being rejected. Brad Pitt wanted to go, so you don’t get to go.

Never been on Princess, yet so I don't know.  On Carnival I request the Chef's Table as soon as I book but I don't know if Princess does that.

Other than Panorama (through December 2020) and a few Australian cruises, nothing is open for booking past April 2020.

From what I have seen on Carnival’s Facebook page from their customer service reps, the Summer of 2020 should open for booking in September.

The Miracle will have a San Diego to Miami sailing in February 2020, so it is possible Miracle will replace Pride in Baltimore, but obviously nothing has been announced.

Keep in mind there is a new ship coming out in August 2020, so the fleet may get a major shuffling.

Sent from my eye phone using a three legged yak FFS

It's available now.  Booked a Journey on November 1, 2020 on the Pride.

Just don't book a 4K room. The french doors are coming out during dry dock and windows are going in.

    Karen

But aren't they floor to ceiling window.  The french doors were not much of a benefit, to us.

  13. We love HAL!  We sailed the Rotterdam this past fall and it felt like we were coming home!  We are natural early birds so that's not a problem for us.  I was surprised how casual elegant night was, after making my DH wear a tux!

I liked attending the Window's workshops.

    Can't wait to cruise again!

  14. I booked a non-refundable fare with my TA for our Boston-Montreal cruise last fall.  I booked it a year-plus in advance and purchased insurance to cover us in case we had to cancel.

A bit out from our cruise I noticed fares were much better so I called my TA.  I was offered an upgraded cabin and a drink OBC or two specialty restaurant meals.  We took the upgraded cabin.

In the future I may not be planning cruises so far in advance.  After our Feb. cruise we won't be cruising again until we can pay cash!
