  1. We got our mattress topper, but I had to ask guest services for the distilled water and extension cord for my husband's Cpap machine. They were delivered by the evening.
  2. We went to brunch recently on the Jewel and all items on the menu were available for the full brunch. Our brunch actually went until 1:00.
  3. We ended up using it for 2 things plugged in at the same time. Typically it was a camera battery charger and a phone charger with 3 charging plates. Because the size of the plug-in blocks for each was a little larger we only did the 2, but it wasn't a big deal to unplug one and plug in something else (like my hair dryer because on Jewel there isn't an outlet in the bathroom for a hair dryer).
  4. Just got off Jewel this past Monday and had a balcony. Room was clean, but definitely not updated.
  5. We just got off Jewel of the Seas and ate in the MDR every night. Our table of 6 always found something we liked from all menu items. Some nights we ordered 2 appetizers or 2 desserts. Food was always hot and good. No one sent anything back or found it to be inedible. My husband commented that each time he ordered the fish, which was several nights, it was always good. Our wait staff was always attentive, asking after each item was delivered whether we liked it or not and encouraging that if we really didn't like it to let them know and they'd happily get us something else. As I mentioned, no one ever returned a meal.
  6. We just got off Jewel of the Seas and used this adapter. It worked great! Cruise Power Strip No Surge Protector with USB Outlets - Ship Approved (Non Surge Protection) Cruise Essentials https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BHVKPC3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
  7. Yes, it's Jewel and right now we're just under other cabins on Deck 8 and exactly mid-ship. Thank you for your input! I'll stay where we are and hope for an upgrade. 🙂
  8. We are currently in a mid-ship partially obstructed balcony room on Deck 7 (above the casino). I'm not overly concerned about the obstruction because it's just the top of a lifeboat. I have a Royal Up bid in for a Junior Suite, which says submitted (unable to cancel or modify). I just looked and the same category balcony room is now available on Deck 10, but more forward on the ship, below just the Vitality Spa. If I switch rooms, will I lose my submitted Royal Up bid? I've heard that if it's submitted than there's a chance I may get the upgrade (I know it's not guaranteed). I don't want to lose my bid chance and I'm not sure about being more forward on the ship, but I think it would be nicer if we weren't above the casino. Thoughts?
  9. Soooo, just wondering do we carry our own off or leave outside the door the night before or is one of them a have to do?
  10. We will be in a European port so I'm not sure if those are different than US ports.
  11. Just looking for some advice. It's been several years since we last cruised. We have a late morning flight with airport transfer through Royal. The flight was also booked through Air2Sea. Should we carry our own luggage off or put it out the night before? We've done the airport transfers with Royal before, but I can't remember if the porters get our luggage to put on the bus or if we have to get it once it's off ship. TIA
  12. Wow, I guess their IT really is bad. 😑
  13. Thank you. They must have fixed the glitch because I was finally able to see my bids on my account page yesterday.
  14. When I sign into my account/ booking info on the website, my bid status/change/modify/cancel bar is no longer visible on my page even though I've logged in and out several times today. So, I looked at my bids through my original RoyalUp email and there's a message saying "offer received" for both of my bids (it used to say "submitted") and I can no longer modify or change my bids (not that I want to). Does anyone know why I can't see my bids on my booking page and does it possibly mean they're considering my bids (or am I just being overly hopeful)?
  15. We got ours assigned about a week or 2 after booking, but I've heard some aren't assigned until right before sailing.
  16. Thank you. It's nice to get the perspective of someone who's been on a similar ship and good to hear the noise wasn't as often as I would have thought.
  17. I currently like that we are mid-ship and don't mind the partially obstructed view. Not sure about being above the casino. In reality, we are only at sea 3 days and the other days are generally early excursions so we have to be up early anyway. We've never been in a suite and my feeling was the same as yours, a Spacious Ocean View Balcony is just a slightly bigger balcony room and I'd love to try a suite room if we can win the bid because in general, those rooms are out of our price range.
  18. We are currently booked in an Oceanview Balcony room on Jewel of the Seas, which is a partially obstructed view (top of lifeboat) above the casino, but mid-ship. We got the Royal Up email and have bids in for both a Junior and Grand Suite. In looking at the deck plans, the Suites are on Deck 10, with most of the Grand Suites and some of the Junior Suites below the pool area (Most of the Junior Suites are below the Windjammer and the art gallery). I've read that being below the pool area can get noisy when the chairs are being moved around, but the cruise is towards the end of August going to the UK so I don't really think it will be a lay around the pool cruise. I wasn't sure about noise from the Windjammer, but why would people buy suites if they always had chair noise? We also have the option to bid on a Spacious Ocean View balcony and in doing a mock booking, there are still over 20 of those rooms available generally mid-ship on Deck 9. I've been hesitant to bid on those because I'd love a Suite, but now in looking at room locations I'm wondering if I should bid on a Spacious, which I might be more likely to get. I also know that just because the current Spacious Balcony rooms are being shown doesn't mean we'd get one of those, which is also why I'm partially hesitant to bid. I still have time to put a bid in on the Spacious as my current bids are just showing as submitted. Any thoughts from those who may have won their Royal Up bids and/or others who have been on Jewel?
  19. We booked a balcony guaranty for our upcoming cruise because it was the only balcony option available at the time of booking. We got our room assigned within a couple weeks. It's not bad because while it's over the casino, it's directly mid-ship, which I love. It is a partial obstructed view, but it's just the top of a lifeboat so you can't look down, but you can still look straight across. In reality, we're not going to be in our room very often because we're in port 9 of 12 days and I usually just sit on the balcony to have a glass of wine or read. We also have a Royal Up bid in for both a Junior Suite and Grand Suite so we'll see what happens.
  20. Our check-iin day was supposed to be today, but many people were able to check-in the day before online. I added most of the info, but not the photos and was still able to complete check-in. On the web site, you can log in to update info as needed. Not sure about the app.
  21. So in thinking about this, I was able to get a Guaranty Regular Balcony (we already got the room number) for less than $1500 per person for a 12 night cruise. I just happened to call before final payment and was able to get a lot of discounts (not sure how that happened, but I'm not questioning). Grand Suites are now going for $17,000. Junior Suites are currently not available. I have a Grand Suite bid in for $30 over minimum, which I can modify and a Junior Suite bid in for $100 over minimum, which I can't modify (I think because there aren't any available right now). I'm thinking, if any become available, my Junior Suite bid may work because they could definitely get more money for my current regular balcony. I may up my bid slightly for the Grand Suite because it's still way cheaper than the current pricing even with the increase in gratuities.
  22. We're currently in a balcony and got the Royal Up email. Even though I could have bid on Spacious Ocean View Balcony rooms, I felt the same. I didn't really like the locations, plus the rooms aren't that much bigger than a regular balcony. So I only bid on 2 different suites. So far Junior Suites aren't showing as available, but your response makes me hopeful that someone will cancel!
  23. We did a GTY balcony and got a Royal Up email. We booked our cruise directly through RCCL.
