I thought adults (even if vaxxed) with children under 12 on board are considered unvaxxed so don't get bracelets. Is that not true?
Only if they’re with the children are they considered unvaxxed.

Yup, that makes no sense for 12+ to be wearing those bracelets on any of the ships. Time to have the kids under 12 to wear them as being unvaxxed instead of the adults who are fully vaxxed.
As you said I don't see the pool rule working out well when they increase ship capacity, 9 people in the pool isn't very many. Oh well, all we can do is follow the rules if we want to cruise.
The only reason I can think of for them not doing this is that the kids already have to wear a wristband (or at least they used to pre-covid) so it might just be too confusing for the staff to quickly eyeball passengers if they have to differentiate between the two bands.

I have read every post in this long thread - NOT. Sorry if this has been asked before, but we currently have a regular ocean view balcony on Allure in October. I have several "offers" to bid on upgraded categories. The first is a spacious ocean view balcony (not going to even consider this over what we have). The second, though is interesting. It is listed as an "Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony". It apparently sleeps six (even though there are just 2 of us). If this is really that much larger, why isn't it considered a junior suite (which is the next category up)? Does anyone know the room category so I can look up where these are on the deck plans? I'm just wondering if it is worth it to bid on that second option. There are also Jr., GS-1br, GS-2br and Owner's suites - but we won't considering paying even the minimum bids on those.
I'm really just wondering about that Ultra Spacious with Large Balcony, where they all are on the ship and trying to decide if it is worth bidding on (min is $200pp).
That’s the room type we originally had booked on Oasis and at least on that ship the room had bunk beds in what I can assume was once a closet and the room itself seemed a little bigger as did the balcony.

Just got the email that our bid was accepted on the panoramic suite!

We put in three bids for our cruise on Oasis this Sunday. Currently two say expired (2bd aqua theater and 2bd GS) and one says pending (ultimate panoramic suite). Fingers crossed 🤞

Are rapid tests allowed for kids under 12? I thought they weren't.
The pharmacy given ones were. They’re just not switching over to pcr being mandatory just not sure if that’s as of the 13th or immediately.

No
Not the at home ones. I’m talking about the rapid test like the ones they give at the port. Those have been accepted and now won’t be.

So every part of this goes into effect on the 13th? We sail on the 12th and have rapid tests booked for the kids.

We got married on a Carnival ship 6 years ago and highly recommend it. We got married at port which worked out perfect for us because we live within driving distance so this allowed some family members who didn’t want to sail to still come to the wedding. Congratulations!

Yes. Everyone needs to be tested within 3 days of sailing.

I kinda pictured a door opening in the ceiling and a plastic tube coming down to suck the possibly-infected passenger through pneumatic tubes into quarantine land. But your way works too.
They’re adding that in the next dry dock 😂

There should be no medical exemptions. If you aren't healthy enough to be vaccinated you should have to wait it out.
Eh yes and no. Some people might just be allergic to something in it but are otherwise healthy.

If the reason is medical you can still try to get cleared to sail at least for Bahamas cruises. If not then I’d say chances are slim for at least most of 2021.

As someone who exclusively sails out of the Northeast this seems appropriate. Fingers crossed for smooth sailing!

We are sailing the week after you and booked the pirate ship excursion with my 6 and 3 year old.

Hmm, back in mid July I bid on two upgrades for my Oasis cruise departing Sept. 12th. Received confirmation that the they had received my bids. Just decided to do a quick check and if I link to the upgrade site from the original e-mail inviting me to bid, it says I'm not eligible to upgrade. If I click on the link to modify/cancel my bid, I get an error message. Crazy! And no idea what's going on.
Also on that sailing. The first email they sent out for RoyalUp stopped working after like a week or so. They sent out a different one a few days later and that link worked. I think if you bud through the original email you have to rebid through the new one.

Correct - there is no "proper" starbucks on the Anthem. I don't think that the coffee that they serve is starbucks, either. It may be illy.
Haven’t been on since December 2019 but at the time La Patisserie served Starbucks.

Personally,I would never bring my unvaxed kids on any cruise ship right now.Just to much worrying all the time. But to each it's own.
Stay safe
Honestly the safety standards on the ship are far more strict then those at my child’s school. I’ll be thrilled to get her out of that little petri dish for a week 😂

Ugh that stinks....we had to do the renewals in person b/c they are minors maybe that is difference. My friend expedite her children's and got them in 4 weeks...have you had any change when you checked?
They don’t do the background checks on minors that they do in adults. I’m always shocked at how much quicker my kids passports get here.

There’s also Chops +1 which gives you a dinner at Chops Steakhouse plus an additional restaurant. We also enjoy the main dining room so this was just enough for us.

I am sailing on the Mariner of the Seas in early January, and, as always, the ship calls at CocoCay. I have never been to a private island before.
Can anyone tell me what is included if one visits the island? Meaning, I know there are excursions to purchase, like time at the Waterpark. Is there anything to do that does not cost extra?
The beaches and loungers are free as well as the pool (not the beach club). There’s also free buffets as well as the snack shack. We had a great time without spending a dime.

I just saw this on the RC website for cruises leaving through August. This is new this week??
When indoors, CDC guidelines require all guests 2 and older to wear masks unless they are actively eating or drinking. The CDC does make allowances for guests to remove their masks in venues and events dedicated to fully vaccinated parties.
RC is now requiring vaccinated passengers cruising out of FL to now wear a mask anytime outside of our room or when not actively eating/drinking? That definitely changes our perspective. I understand embarkation and disembarkation requiring masks. Our traveling party had agreed it was probably safer on a ship where it's probably a higher vaccination rate than anywhere else we go. The testing and small amount of cases onboard don't bother me. It's probably lower than most grocery stores. But going back to masks required the majority of the time? We got vaccinated for many reasons, and don't want to be lumped in with those that chose not to just because RC says so.
Yikes, not sure if an AI doesn't sound better than that. More FCC I guess if it doesn't change. I guess we have some a month or so to see how it goes (perhaps leaving Oct 31)
I think this has always been the case. Certain areas are vax only and maskless but indoor common areas are masked.
-
Very excited! We did a trip to Great Wolf Lodge a few months ago and didn’t feel
like the masks stood in the way of us having a good time especially since most of the day was broken up with doing maskless activities (water stuff or eating). And my oldest is used to wearing a mask in school so I don’t think having to wear one on kids club will be a blip on her radar. Is it ideal? No but I’ll take masked up on vacation over unmasked at home any day 🤷♀️

Thank you so much for detailing all of this. Glad it went as smoothly as possible and that you both are feeling relatively well.
