And lets keep in mind cruise ships to and from New Jersey are still contingent on whether or not Port Liberty is open to cruise ships. Maybe some of the good people of New Jersey can elaborate on that subject? RCL can say what they want but if the Port isn't open for business then the main focus will continue to be operating from Florida this Summer.

I don’t have any inside information but I will say that things are fairly normal here. Restaurants are open to 100% capacity as long as distancing is possible, the mask mandate ends for vaccinated people this week, travel advisory has been lifted and there’s a big push for summer tourism. I don’t see there being an issue with opening based on everything else going on.

NJ has the highest death rate per hundred thousand from covid,  293 per hundred thousand

I would think that current trends would be more of a deciding factor then an overall average. Currently NJ is doing really well and has one of the best vaccination rates in the country.

Well are you vaccinated and wearing a mask inside with others vaccinated?  What did the CDC say?  How is Texas doing? Do you like being on a treadmill with a mask on with no one around you?  I dont think this is normal compared to the rest of the country.  Looking back, we heard for almost 15 months to "follow the science" so not following the CDC recommendations for vaccinated people seems controlling to me.  As I said before, I hope Im wrong but I doubt we will cruise from NJ in 2021.

I have been to Arizona, Florida, Texas, Missouri plus Cozumel and Bahamas since this started.  I was recently in Arizona at the Grand Canyon.  Huge difference in peoples covid fears in NJ and there.  I see people hiking outdoors here and biking with masks on.  People on the beach with masks on.  I suspect they are vaccinated.  I hope I am wrong as Bayonne is an hour drive for us and it would be great to leave close to home.

Masks aren’t required outdoors so if you’re seeing it then that’s a personal decision.

I find it hard to believe any cruises will sail from NJ this year.  I hope Im wrong but living here and seeing how controlling our governor continues to be, I just can't see it happening.

It’s so weird to me that people think this is controlling. Like hate Murphy all you want but pretty much everything is open and restaurants are now at 100% capacity. We’re pretty darn close to normal minus a couple more weeks of masks.

An un-vaccinated 17 year old who works in the public and goes to in-person high school poses a far higher risk to others than an in-vaccinated 40 year old who works from home and has groceries delivered.

That’s way too specific of a situation to be relevant. Cruise lines aren’t going to go through peoples day to day lives to decide who can sail. I’m not saying that the 5% will go towards children sailing but I think it’s a ton more likely then it being for adults who either choose not to get vaccinated or can’t for medical reasons. It makes far more sense from both a financial and liability standpoint.

  6. We only have two booked currently one of which was a lift and shift. I’m still on the fence on whether I think our September Oasis cruise will happen but if we get closer and it looks like a go then we’ll probably book another cruise for December. If not then we’ll probably stop booking until things are more certain. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t had to show tremendous restraint in booking for 2022 though.

  7. I think leaving the extra 5% wiggle room is smart from a business perspective when it’s still unknown what the vaccine eligibility will look like in the near future. As soon as next week 12+ will be able to be vaccinated so who knows where we’ll be by sailing and the younger it goes the closer chance they have of getting that “too young to be vaccinated” age group into that 5%. Do I think that will be able to happen? No, but why would they pass up that money if there’s even the tiniest chance it’s possible.

With New York rapidly opening up to almost pre-covid levels and New Jersey soon to follow there is hope for departures from the NY Harbor.

The Anthem is scheduled to begin sailing to Cape Canaveral and the Bahamas in November.

It will be sailing in Europe just prior to crossing the pond and will most probably have a vaccinated crew operating on a fully functioning ship.

It also will be sailing on the already scheduled itinerary and the same dates, with probably the same passengers that have been booked for over a year.

ALL THIS WITH NO REAL CHANGES.

Yup looks like NY, NJ, and CT will be lifting most capacity limits as of the 19th. People are so desperate to hate on Murphy that they don’t realize we’ve had pretty much every place open in one capacity or another for months already.

I do wonder if anyone has made final payment just to get the option to lift and shift a cancellation and keep a promo like ksf, especially since it seems unlikely it will be back soon. Hopefully we don't have to consider that... I'd imagine if they do enact a vaccine requirement they'll have to be pretty generous with refunds and reservation changes.

It definitely played a part in our last canceled cruise. The other ones we’d booked we’d either canceled or transferred the deposit but our April cruise we got at a great deal, had some money off from the casino, and booked during KSF. We never would have been able to get it anywhere close to the same price without doing a lift and switch.

  10. 1) April 2021 Anthem

    2) April 2021 Anthen

    3) September 2021 Oasis for a few reasons. This is set to be my parents first cruise on Royal after many rebookings so I’m really hoping they’re able to finally get a chance to go. Not to mention my 5yo is incredibly excited to get to have grandma and pop pop on vacation with her. I’m also especially excited because it will be the first cruise where my youngest is old enough for kids club 🎉

  11. I definitely think it’s worth it at that price. My husband and I really enjoyed having that freedom on our anniversary cruise but opted not to get it on our cruise a couple of months later since we’d have our kids and didn’t think we’d get the use out of it. We ended up getting the one below it because I at least needed something to cover coffee however we both agreed by like the second day in that we should have just gotten the deluxe. In the end the price difference was that of about two drinks a day which definitely would have still been worth it for us.

  12. Zero because we’ve rescheduled them before final payment. My husbands schedule unfortunately doesn’t allow us enough flexibility to wait for an official cancellation. My parents on the other hand have had quite a few canceled. Those where going to be their first time on Royal and we were just joking about how if they gave points for canceled cruises they’d be diamond before ever even stepping on a RC ship.

  13. Doing something like that just doesn’t seem logical to me especially in a state as large as Florida. Lots of people would need to drive many hours even within their own state to get there which would require stops for things like gas or bathroom breaks therefore possibly exposing them. It’s just too hard to regulate something like that unless they literally shuttle people from their front door to the port to ensure they aren’t making any pit stops. 😂

  14. We have a cruise booked for the end of December out of NY and I’m starting to wonder if I should cancel and make alternate plans. I know at this point the best anybody could do is guess but with Carnival canceling all 2020 cruises out of NY do you think Norwegian will follow suit? I’m eyeing a similar cruise with Royal out of Baltimore in November. We have a cruise with them booked in 2021 also so if they cancel I’d at least have use for the FCC.
