  1. I am very happy for those who were owed $500 or more vs upgrade certs, but we will use our 4 upgrading both of us from BC to BA. Today a letter from Citi Bank on their Thank You points & how folks will lose them all if they are late with payment, lost their account or close it.

     

    Then national news all day talking about B of A & Citi being NATIONALIZED. This means the governent owns them, their stocks are $3 for B of A & $2 for Citi. & it will be -0- when it happens.

     

    My husband applauded me for dropping B of A & their Worldpoints for all their cards, so very little rewards for loads of spending per customer. He remembers how we had very little on Celebrity or RCCL other than the $300 OBC for stockholders. Now the stock is worthless at $5 instead $45 as we should have sold it. Even RCCL didn't want it! But as my husband stated, it will be Carnival, at a higher rate, when they fall. So we are keeping it for it to be taken over.

     

    So I would be careful if you are chosing to stay with B of A. Citi is more than a bank, so they have plenty worldwide to stay afloat with major companies working with them, so our SIGNATURE VISA IS SAFE as I was told by Hilton. So we are B of A less & do not miss them,

     

    Freestyle is still #1 with us, but unfortunately no $500 off a cruise unless they decide to do something else for us. Hopefully Apollo is pulling them away from B of A. I am suprised that they can not figure out the loss for the long time customers of NCL who loved getting cruise money for shopping. MBNA was nothing like Worldpoints. Great C/S, respect for their customers. Then Al Lerner's son sells dad's company, a major loss for Cleveland & the employees who lost their jobs. B of A was a long way behind MBNA. We all know it & now they have lost us.

  2. so you can flu any airline. Delta fowled up our vacation to our Maui timeshare when they refused us to board the plane since we used Skymiles & could fly if we paid. So I phoned AMEX NYC to the CEO who was really ticked at they way Delta was taking their $47 mil & not giving the customers service. So he got us flyinh FC & free rental since ours was canceled by Delta who booked it. He then made us BLUE & we fly CO, Virgin Atlantic & could take SWA if we want.

     

     

    I'm still real confused on what card to get now. So all the regular bills are hitting my NCL card still and all other stuff I'm putting on my Disney card for now.

     

    I really need to find a good card to give me some good points I can use.

     

    I don't want hotel points as I wouldn't use them, air seems to be a PIA I have a AMEX Delta Skymiles and enough points for a R/T flight but can never get it when I need it.

     

    I liked the NCL compass awards as it grew fast and was easy to do.

     

    I have no clus what I should do. :confused::confused::confused::confused:

  3. which gave us 120K points in a few months with 10, 5, 3 points per $1 spent. So I transferred it to CO air for us to fly home from London from a TA in April. Next year we will change from Citi World MC to Citi Platinum AMEX for more great perks. With the BOGO air, ID theft protection, yearly credit score & reports from all 3 agencies are far over in value of the $125 yearly fee & first year is FREE.

  4. I called NCL Latitudes who could not help with the new credit card perks. They transferred me to Marketing who told me that B of A handles the credit card, they are the name on it but have nothing to do with it. It is now a large popular card called WORLDPOINTS and that card gives rewards for many things besides cruising which people want. I questioned her on NCL statements of perks for cardholders & she tells me to visit: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=WorldPoints. I tell her that 50,000 points which is $50,000 in purchases unless you can do $25,000 in NCL purchases to get $500 OBC. That is far from the Compass Rewards perks & B of A tells me that you wanted to cut the value of the perks. She tells me to call B of A to get the info from them.

     

    So I again phone them & ask where the info I have been expecting since December 12th billing date which was the origainal closing date of my account. I was told the info would come with the new card but didn't. Just to visit bankofamerica.com/worldpoints which has no info on NCL in it. That gal tells me that I have a new card sent to me on 1/30/09 that I have not used. No 5000 points since I am not a new accountholder. I told her it is a new account for us so we are but she said NO. Then again I am told to call NCL for thei perks.

     

    So being so sick & tired of this game I closed the new account since they closed the long time MBNA account. So it will not effect my credit score.

     

    Husband has a World MC that has points for air & cruise purchases, so I will charge NCL to that. When Signature Visa BOGO air runs out then we may change to using the World MC to a Platinum AMEX to get plenty of BOGO air even international.

  5. It is 100 POINT certificate. Good for upgrade inside to better inside, OV to better OV, balcony ot better balcony but no Mini which is Deluxe Balcony but NCL states it is 50% bigger than a BA balcony.

     

    You should call them right away! you should have received one $500

    certificate (worth $500 off the cruise price) and one upgrade certificate.

    As others have said the one category upgrade certificates are just about

    useless.....I am assuming you are saying you got 6 one category upgrade certificates?.......I've never seen $100 certificates.

  6. Give a call to NCL & tell them you have waited since 12.31 for your upgrade cert which showed today & you book the cruise that you want to use the cert on. They will give you the upgrade cost.

    Ugh! Received a "1 category upgrade" certificate TODAY, and upgraded my cabin YESTERDAY which cost me and extra $100 and I lost $150 OBC. Is it too late to apply the upgrade certificate so that I could at least get $50 back? I've got a call into my TA, but she's not very knowledgeable about how the certificates work. Any ideas?
  7. We just got a B of A envelope with a letter stating our certs from Compass Rewards was attached, all we got was 3 - 100 point certs for upgrade which is within a category not BA to Mini, tho it is a deluxe balcony not a suite.

     

    But still no NCL Worldpoints info as promised by 3 clerks & a supervisor

  9. since it is a new card with nothing on it as yet. A new card can be cancelled as a change of mind. When we reopened our HH Signature Visa we got extra FICO points. Now 98% are poorer than we are in credit scores. SO Discover that is 20 years old, HH Signature Visa, Amex which is 27 years old all get used at least once a month but actually they all get used plenty. Gas for Discover & a store we go to that uses them exclusively, Amex for everything that has a warranty to get the extra year and HH for all the points we get to use for air, hotel, entertainment.

  10. So I phoned B of A asking where my certs for the Compass Rewards NCL card were. They knew nothign about it. So I asked for a Supervisor & the guy who came to the phone stated that I have -0- points on my new account. I told him I am checking on the Compass Rewards account for nCL that they closed not the Worldpoints that they replaced it with. Per your Oct 1 letter the account number is to rotor over to the new account. I was told you sent it to me on 12/20 that never made it to our home. So we got a new account & new cards. But no reward certs from the old account that was closed 12/31 with certs going out in January. So where are they. He knew nothing about it since it is CLOSED. So who does?

     

     

    OK, I think this is beginning to make sense.

     

    I still haven't gotten a thing in the mail.

     

    I stopped using my card before my December billing cycle ended. On my December statement, I had a point balance of $1,000 exactly.

     

    I had no purchases at all from the December billing statement end date and December 31.

     

    So, I have no "odd" points, so that's why I haven't received anything.

     

    I'm hoping in the next week or two, I will get my certificates.

     

    Any one else in a similar situation?

    The Oct 1 letter stated that after your December closing date of Compass Rewards card, the account number would move over to Worldpoints & a new card would be mailed in December to you. Then they changed their story with the 90 day rule on changes of accounts. But I see folks complaining that their rewards didn't show. We shredded our old cards on our billing date, so we had no card for B of A after 12/10. No new card by 1/28, so I called to investigate & was told was sent in December, we never got it, so our long time account was closed & new one opened with card NDA to us.

     

    But no info on the NCL account, even NCL tells me that B of A takes care of it & they know nothing. Their website makes it sound fabulous but no info. Worldpoints site I was told to visit makes it sound bogus as the Celebrity Worldpoints was. Same the RCCL and that was a VISA with hardly any perks. So we used our AMEX Blue instead. Stockholders got us OBC that was $250. But now we have a $8 stock that was a $3500 loser. $15 dividend is a joke.

    I still don't understand what you're talking about. Maybe you're right that we are to receive new cards. I don't remember reading that on the 10/1 letter, but I don't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

     

    The website states that we'll be continuing to use our current card as usual, with no "disruptions."

     

    Why would they be sending you a card and no one else? That's why I believe you assumed you were going to get one, which prodded the rep to assume one had been sent. Let's face it, BofA reps seem pretty clueless sometimes.

     

    Perhaps my post was a bit sardonic, but I was annoyed that the information you posted probably caused many people to think their card is lost in the mail too. All I could do was assume what happened since you hadn't come back to explain.

     

    I already admitted what "assumptions" can cause. Have a nice weekend.

  12. You definately have no idea what you are insulting me over. Read the 10/1/08 letter about Worldpoints & see the new cards all are getting with Compass Rewards account # moved over to thhe new ones.sult.

    I've inquired to AFT about this too, lum. I've gotten no answer as to why AFT has received a new card. My assumption is that she assumed she would get a new card, and the BofA rep she spoke with didn't see a new card on her account so the rep assumed that the card was mailed to the wrong address. The phantom card never existed. At that point, AFT's old number, assumed to be compromised, was terminated resulting in a new card with a new number being mailed to her by FedEx, no less. See what happens when we all assume??

     

    Maybe she'll come back and correct me where I'm wrong. :D

  13. B of A stated they sent the NCL Worldpoints card with my 3 year account # on it. Never received the whole month of January. So it is classified lost in mail or taken by someone else. So account is closed & new account created & new card NDA to us which we got the next morning. Don't know anything about a $50 OBC.

     

     

    What was your reason for requesting a new card? Are they considering this a new account (getting you $50 OBC) or just a replacement card?
  14. And today FedEx brings my Worldpoints card as the attached paper stated for me to activate it upon receipt. But nothing with it stating anything about Worldpoints Just to visit: www.bankofamerica.com/workpoints. Plus the card is like the Compass Rewards card with Norwegian Dawn on the ocean on it, which I prefer to the ugly card NCL is showing.

     

    So I phoned to activate it, again I was reminded to visit the website to learn everything I can do with it, but no mention of NCL on it as I asked. But we have a new account number since our old one had a new card sent in December that never made it to us, so it was closed and a new account & card created & next day aired to us.

     

    So the cards are in the safe til we book an NCL cruise. Nothing else since we have AMEX Blue for warranty coverage & HH Signature Visa for other charges.

  15. I find him very entertaining as well as knowledgeable on money & keeping it. I was on his show when I got a $5000 check from a Mystery Shopping company that add "The" to their name that is identical to a company I work for. They state that I am to deposit the check, then use the funds to check into spas around the world & review them for a new web site.

     

    Never been paid in advance before by a company so a red flag went up. Then the ned of the letter wants me to send a $2400 processing fee to a P O Box in Jamaica. RIP OFF. SO I sent the whole thing, envelope & all to my Atorney General. Many other folks fell for this getting ripped off whn the check bounced after they sent the money. SO FBI is in on it.

     

    So he was talking about the latest rip off when I called on this, he instantly got more folks calling on it.

     

    Then he got going on Banks and be careful of the credit card with thousands of air miles for free flights all over the world. Folks now are alarmed at being told that they need 100 times the miles to fly. Cruiseline cards are being changed to a fake great card that gives you NOTHING! Watch out for folks that pay their bills in full every month. They are called LEACHES for free loans from the bank. The rest of the users who pay the minimum balance now have to pay hundeds each month and are chaged interest on all new purchases if they do not pay in full. Too bad I taped the show but wasn't home to call in & no one from CC did.

  16. Great gal I luckily got, who looked up my account. She sees my account was closed on 12/15 and reopened as Worldpoints on 12/20 with my card sent to me. I tell her I have no card, I shredded my Compass Rewards when they told me that 12/10 billing date is the end of it. Over a month with no B of A card. So she is Next Day Airing me a new card with new account # since whomever may have taken what was sent to me, but it is CLOSED so no one can use it. I told her I hope the jerk tries to use it so the Police get him/her. She agreed that they pay a nice reward to the clerk who gets it.

     

    So by Friday I will have my new card & info on it. No mail today due to the snow says the Post Office. Amazing my driveway was cleared of 2 feet of snow as was steps for the poor replacement guy who shows after 5PM.

  17. and we have gotten no letter dated 1/5/09, nothing about WORLDPOINTS received. Online is blank than B of A sending us to NCL site to see the same old thrilling statement on the new credit card which is far from exciting. So we sit & wait.

     

    A month ago we get a 6 page statement of credit with B of A that we got with Compass Rewards card. It states nothing about rewards of card, etc. Just the meaning of credit terms. This was attached to a NCL letterhead stating that they have to send this to you by law, but that would be the credit card company (B of A) not a cruiseline.

  18. just a letter on 10/1/08 & a December 20th from NCL that they are attaching the legal information on the new credit card for NCL from B of A & 6 double sided printouts of legalese with descriptions of every word from credit card to charge to credit limit to default.

     

    Nothing about Worldpoints at all no reference to NCL at all either. Just the NCL letterhead witjh the line of sending us legal paperwork, which B of A would be doing since they are the bank.

     

    I got no statement in December on the 12th or January 12 since they had a -0- balance for 2 months since we shredded the card December 10th which is our billing date. After that NCL states they are going til 12/31 but we wouldn't get more than 250 points since we now have the H Signature VISA oas our main card with AMEX Blue for warranty purchases. Do not trust CITI or B or A with that. So the new NCL card is for NCL charges unless we are getting 4 points per $1 FOR ncl & 2 FOR EVERYTHING ELSE JUST LIKE COMPASS REWARDS. If it is still 500 points for $50,000 in purchases for either, then forget that!

  19. We shop at BJ's but they called themselves a warehouse club, so only 2 HH points. Shop at Giant Eagle & get 3 points per $1 on HH Visa Signature. Super Target, Super KMart, etc are merchandisers not grocers. And staying at Hilton Properties & a long time HH member gets us 10 points per $1 for stays or even dinner there.

  20. Anticipation at full force as I ripped into it. No credit card, nothing but the B of A gibberish of credit card terms and what they mean to you if you do not pay in full each month. Great terms like: APR means....., Cash In Advance means... and all the rest. The 6 double sided type written gibberish has a cover page stating on NCL letterhead and their Consumer Satisfaction department (no capital D used by NCL) & dated December 29, 2008 & received January 9, 2009.

     

    This is a joke to me & my husband for folks that pay in full every month and we are to learn what great perks we get with his ugly yellow card. All this garbage received & states that Federal Law required them to provide this.

     

    So we are not looking forward to what may show here or not as many are told they have to apply for their card. So this is quiet screwed up and we are not too excited at what we will be getting.

     

    Then another envelope has a welcome home letter from NCL with an upgrade certificate from our Canadian cruise, tho we never got one for Dawn's Bermuda cruise last April. SO NCL OWES US ANOTHER REAL UPGRADE FOR FREE. This states that you are upgraded within they category you purchase & if an upgrade is not available you receive a credit for the difference.

  21. If you are like us, we get a BA balcony AFT and we get no upgrade since an AF is a mini suite, but no perks since it is a Deluxe balcony. BB to a BA to use it. An inside to a higher inside but not an oceanview, an oceanview to a higher oceanview but not to a balcony. So they are a waste, if you do not use them to get what you want, buy a level down to get the highest one you want.

     

    So that's it!

     

     

    If I have to settle for 'free upgrate' sertificates, does anybody know how exactly it would work?

    Should I reserve a cabin in lower category and then get a free upgrade? How do I make sure then I get a cabin I want? Or reserve a cabin I want but pay for it as if it was in the lower cat?

  22. Billing date is 12/12 and no mail as of 12/29. So now I wonder what we are in for. The NCL web site is very generic saying nothing. Worldpoints is even on B of A Signature Visa which killed that card for them. HH Sign Visa is far better.

  23. 3 points per $1 for grocers, drugstores, gasoline; 2 points for everything else & I get 10 points per stay at Hilton Hotels (any of them) or dinner at their restaurant.

     

    Is there an annual fee?

     

    I'm still searching for what card to use after Dec. 31st.

     

    I will in the mean time use my AMEX Delta skymiles and my Disney Card. Not great rewards tough.
