  1. you get 10 points per $1 spent at Hilton & other points larger than stated by Citi. So we got the card, it was UPS NDA to us the next day at 9AM. Spend $125 & get 15,000 points. Get great rewards for cheap nights at Hilton hotels. We can stay at Hampton Inn for 7500 points since you are Silver if not Gold already..

Now we have to talk HH into doing business with NCL for us instead of Carnival or include NCL for the thousands they will get by doing it.

  2. as the credit cards arrived Next Day Air for us to start using yesterday.I even got on HiltonHHonors.com and we are Silver status & spend $20K a year & then we are Gold.

So Saturday we get to the airport early for our 9AM flight & have the CO Onepass club to wait in & get priority boarding & free drinks. So a geat cruise with a great send off at both airports in the CO club to enjoy. Then I get a call from HiltonHHonors that we have been an active couple with Hilton (20 years) so our rewards are doubled, so 10 points per $1 spent with Hilton, 6 for groceries, drugs, gas & 3 for everything else. So this is better than WORLDPOINTS & MC World that huband got us & they have promos for good stuff so we didn't close it.

I think if my daughter weren't an employee of The Marriott, I'd jump on that one.
  3. since they give me a one time credit card # to use with the store. So if a illegal clerk wants to buy something for her/himself, they cannot since it is a one time usage & they are in plenty of trouble with the cops. They also taught me a great usage idea. If you give your card & the clerk needs it back to scan again, DON'T, give another card. Once again protection against double scanning for themselves. None of my cards have a signature, they all read SEE ID.

I utilize my Discover ONLY for on-line shopping as I like to have control over my CC information being "out there" and most companies do accept Discover for on-line shopping.

I do/did this to avoid identity theft and, sure enough, my identity was stolen on-line - all purchases (made by the thief) were on that card, on-line. Discover was very helpful at the time and, while I agree, it is not accepted in many places - it is a good card to use for shopping on-line.

  4. for a fee free card it is packed with perks. Spend $125 in the first 2 months & get 2 nights FREE at Hilton hotels. Free companion airfare, free airport club assess, 3-5 points per $1 spent at grocery stores, drugstores, gas, 6 points per $1 at Hilton. So we changed our World MC Premium Pass at Citi for this Visa Signature.

  5. and that is fee free. Points are easily obtained with AMEX mall purchases which can be tripled & quadrupled with promos. Any airline uses them, book thru AMEX to get best seats. Use them for restaurant gift cards to eat for free.

They have a new CLEAR card that gets you a fee free credit score & report every year. Also FREE.

Doesn't AE still charge an annual fee?
  6. reading all this. I spoke with a Supervisor I have known since MBNA days & all the stiffing of folks by Worldpoints with RCCL & Celebrity. He told me that the Worldpoints card is used as a fallback card when a company no longer wants to pay for special perks for their customers. He told me about their last adventure. A golf Course who had a card for its members. Many had over 250,000 points when the golf course decided to cancel the card & take the Worldppoints card for them. So folks with 275,000 got 65,000 Worldpoints. B of A Sups were going deaf with all the *itching going on. So they learned to have the company announce the change & what it will entitle you to.

So a call to NCL & to Amanda got me the version that NCL is giving us special awards based on our Latitudes level. SO bronze gets the 50,000 for $500 credit or OBC. She laughed that I was being hard on her which I wasn't just asking factual questions. I read her the awards stated on B of A web site on Worldpoints card. Nothing on if they are MC or VISA. She didn't have anything on that but was told that MC was NCL choice. MC gives awards as you see on TV ads. So the welcome package with our new cards will explain it all in detail.

So if it is bogus as RCCL & Celebrity was, then I will go with Signature VISA with all the perks with that card. It states PERFECT CREDIT to get it as the MC World is MC's version of it.

The Supervisor is sending us info on both so we can be ready to change to either since we are deserving of it as he stated.

Hey, make that drink a COSMO, a double!:D
  7. The Worldpoints card is a fallback card when a customer wants to close his offerings. SO NCL was going to ax the whole redemption credit card idea and B of A told them to get the Worldpoints card for their great sailers, so they did. Just like the Golf Course Club that closed their card leaving folks with 250,000 points having only 25,000 with Worldpoints. At least NCL is giving us something for what we have by December billing date.

I wonder when we get on Jewel in 10 days if the $250 deposit with $100 OBC will still be alive.

I have had the AMEX Blue since the SKymiles card fouled up at Hopkins Airport in 2005 cancelling our Hawaiian flight since we used Skymiles to buy passage. The CEO changed me to Blue so I get their TA dept to book us to a flight with the points we have. OR we can use them on cruises for OBC. Or restaurant gift cards.

[quote name='psmarkle']OK, just called NCL Compass Rewards at 1-800-434-8313 and got a similar response to others on this thread...agent wasn't familiar and had to go look for info. After he tried to put a positive spin on the program, I asked him directly, "right now I have to charge a little under $34,000 yr to earn $1,000 cruise credits. How much do I have to charge under this new program to earn the same $1,000?" He hedged and tried to figure it out and said I get 1 pt per $1, so 1,000 pts = $1,000 off. So I figured $100,000 at 1% back = $1,000 cruise credits under the new program, to which he concurred.

So, looking objectively w/no loyalty to any cruise line, this is just an average deal under the new terms as we are going from a 3% back (3pts per $1 now) down to 1% back (1 pt per $1 charged). Objectively, there are better programs out there like Amex Blue Cash (no sponsorship or recommendation intended, just highlighting the #'s) w/ up to 5% cash back after you pass a $$ threshold or our bank's regular Master Card that gives 1.25% cash back.

For our family, we should have $1,500 earned by Dec for our Alaska cruise next summer, then we will canx our 3 NCL cards after the end of the year and use our cash back cards (unless we find a better cruise card!).

Any feedback on cruise cards offering better than 1% back are certainly welcome!,

  8. that states what a better card we are getting when we have to spend twice as much to get what we've had. Not too excited so I may tell them to change me to VISA SIGNATURE so I get free airport clubs for free booze & relaxation for a flight. I have done a search for cruise cards & just about all I read about have the WORLDPOINTS for $100 OBC for 10000 points. OR you have to use their TA.

LOUSY! So maybe we should all call NCL to ask why they are doing this to us. 1/2 the rewards for our best customers?????

And you can spend $50,000 instead of $16,666 or less to get $500. However, if you spend $25,000 to NCL you will get double points and 2 $250 certificates....what's wrong with this picture?
  9. are the way we go, so a minimum of $500 off a cruise. If we get 2 for a cruise then we get $1000 off. So we never lose points.

We very seldom get over $1000 as I am booking cruises no earlier than 2 months before to get the best price. And with only 90 day warranty, no additional year for 1-5 year warranty as AMEX gives, we never use MC for our major purchases. They know but do not wnat to give better perks.

  10. Mine sent in August was received in 3 days to the P O Box given to me by NCL. One stamp on envelope. I was credited and very happy with the 50% discount we got from the Latitudes DMLAT promo. One month one week & 2 days til we fly & cruise.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know what my experience was with using the rewards certificates last month. I booked our cruise through the NCL website and final payment is not due until Sept. 23rd. Last month I sent $1500 in rewards certificates to the physical mailing address (noted on the first page of this thread) with a cover letter and a copy of the cruise confirmation/reservation form that I had received by email when I initially booked the cruise. I sent them overnight via the post office with signature confirmation. Kept copies of everything that I mailed to NCL too, of course. I logged onto the NCL website about a week later and the $1500 had already been credited to the balance due on our cruise. Pretty impressive and speedy!
  11. the party with the credit card must be in the stateroom being purchased .

My mother and brother each have their own accounts. So don't I. If we each redeem a certificate, does it matter that they are 3rd and 4th persons, or does the person whose certificates are being redeemed have to be the 1st person or person whose name the booking is under?
  12. just click on Credit Cards, then Rewards, then Cruise Rewards and then Norwegian Platinum Plus Mastercard and fill it out & get it overnight Fed Ex.

I just signed up for the card by calling the 800 #. There isn't a link on NCLs site anymore. I hope I get the 25 bonus points for the first purchase?

Question for those that have it. Say I make an advance booking on my next cruise while on board. Then I accumulate enough to order 2 500 cruise certificates. Then when final payment is due, I send in the 2 certificates + the balance of the rest of the final payment that is owed to the TA? Is that how it works? Or do I have to pay entire final payment and then get a credit on my card to use at a later date?

  13. then click on credit cards, then on the left side rewards area, then cruise rewards cards & then on Norwegian card. Then fill out app & get the card overnight in many cases

Does anyone have a website or email address where we can get an application for an NCL Mastercard? Thanks!
  14. I was told by NCL to use it so I did to send in my $500 cert & they applied it in 3 days sending me an email that it was applied.

The street address on page 1 is NCL's actual street address. Just send it there, Attn: Accounting.

The reason I listed that address is so people can use overnight services like UPS, DHL or Fedex since they won't deliver to PO Boxes. I highly advise you mail your certificates via some sort of trackable mail as you're essentially sending the equivalent of cash in the mail.

I've sent certificates on 5 occasions to that street address without any problems (generally via FedEx 2day).

As for the overpayment, it depends. Officially, NCL has the right not to credit you back the difference, particularly if your existing payment is solely the original deposit. That said, many have reported being refunded excess payments back to their cards.

ETA - sorry for the repeat of what ute_fan just posted, but we were essentially responding at the same time at ute_fan beat me to the punch! Well done LOL!

  15. I was just there & NCL is showing:

  16. If his name is on them, and not yours, then he must be on the cruise. SO cancel if he can't go, to rebook to use them for one that he can, by the date on the cert.

I've read this from page 1 to the last and I can't find an answer to my question. Please help!

I have 2 $500 certificates to use on an upcoming cruise in November. The certificates are in my husband's name. We both sign on the account but he is not going on the cruise. I'm confused as to what to do. Do I sign the back of the cert as authorized signer....does he....can I use these certs for a cruise he's not going on...will NCL just credit our card? My final payment is due in a couple weeks and I need to figure out what to do!

Oops, I guess that's more than 1 question. As you can see I'm confused and a bit worried too because without the $1000 certificate I'm not sure I'll be going on the cruise.

    Thanks for your help!!!

  17. as I only needed 21 points for my $500 credit & by 6/18 I had them. But billing was to happen on 8/4 and BOA tells me I get no points til my statement is compiled on 7/16, then to pace away waiting for it to show here, them to fill out to mail to NCL to apply before 8/4.

A quick question about the points. Do they accrue on a Calendar month basis or a billing cycle basis? I do not want to go over the limit for the month and my billing ends on the 20th.
  18. but no I never booked air with NCL since CO is cheaper here in CLE. But if the air & cruise are booked together then NCL will be charging you for the total package so the cert will be against those charges.

Again be sure to read NCL's rules.

so the answer is no you have no personal experience have not talked to NCL about it but its your reading of the cert.

"cruise arrangements" could mean the air portion that ncl makes for you as part of your booking. Its is NOT so clear as to mean the cruise portion only...

NCL makes airline arrangements when you purchase NCL air. NCL is the charging party and its part of your booking.

Do I know for sure that you can use your cert for the airline portion if it is made by NCL...no but I would check with NCL first because I have been told before that the cert is just like cash and can be used for anything on the booking..but since I don't fly to where I take NCL I can't tell you or anyone esle for sure...but then neither can you....your reading of the cert really doesn't answer the question. What you have answered if the TA books your cruise through NCL and the air not through NCL you surely can't use the cert...but when its part of the booking you MAY be able to.

While your reading might make sense it not the only reading possible.

Thank you for not answering again as to whether your answer was based on personal experience.

As I said I know "the rule" about submitting the certs with final payment is routinely disregarded and that IS from personal experience....

  19. On the NCL MC statement it must show NCL as the party charging you, not a TA, airline or anyone else for the cruise. Norwegian Cruise Line will read as the party charging you. Then you earn the 4% points on the amount. This si cruise with or without air, for excursions, for onboard charges while on the cruise. All 4%. Then everyday charges are 3%. You get 500-3000 points for a $500-3000 credit. You call BOA for them to send you the cert which you fill out, make copies of & send into NCL P O Box. They deduct the amount so you pay $500-3000 less on billing date or see a $500-3000 credit if you paid the bill already. It is good only before you cruise.

Then as the cert reads. The Compass Rewards program comes from NCL. So you should read NCL program rules.

On the back side of the cert it reads " Use this certificate for an eligible discount in connection with cruise arrangemets booked by NCL, NCLA, Orient or Star Cruises." It also talks about cancellation of cruise by NCL & what they do.

  20. If someone is buying the air, cruise, excursions from NCL then they will bill to the NCL MC & you get 4% cashback points.. If it shows a TA charge or airline charge, then just 3% on that.

Is this from NCL, your experience, or just from reading? because what it says on the cert is not necessarily what they do(i.e. cert with final payment---we all know that isn't the way its handled)....

I would call NCL and ask....not BOA they haven't a clue.

  21. When you book cruise, air, transfers, and excursions through NCL. It comes as an NCL charge so you get 4 points per $100 or 4% of total. $500-$3000 for 500-3000 points can be used towards your NCL charge for the cruise. I do not believe it is for total charges for everything since the cert states CRUISE.

Can I use my NCL reward points to pay for airfare if I book it through NCL as an add-on to my cruise?
  22. Her name is IDA PARKER who is boss of credit services for BOA. She is on vacation til 8/10.

My $500 credit showed in under a week. It was attached to a letter to my TA but came to me. She told me to fill it out with her info & mail it in to a P O BOX. They got it in 2 days & sent me an email showing the new balance being billed toay to my MC.

A shame this happened to you since the USPS can misdeliver it & those folks shred it, not bring it to you. Try a call to IDA anyhow as she has to have a person doing her job while she is on a cruise.

I requested one $500 compass reward coupon in early July.. after 3 weeks passed with no coupon at my address I called again and they said they would cancel the original and research it-- then issue a 2nd one, I requested that they over nite it because I want to have it in place when my final payment is due mid august. They told me that they couldn't do it another way. I am supposed to get the new coupon in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem? I have received before without any issues.

Does anyone have a contact NAME that I can call if this does not get resolved??

    Thank you

    Chris Mitchell
