What day and at what time do you expect to be traveling to Galveston?
-
Doesn't this only apply to the Sunday cruises? Texas does not allow liquor sales on Sundays but any other day of the week should be fine.

I don't know which link you are asking for specifically but here are a few of the shuttle services that are based in Galveston.
http://www.islandbreezeshuttle.com/ Private shuttles
http://galveston-shuttle.com/ Private shuttles and limos
https://cooltoursgalveston.com/ This one provides tours all over the island
http://www.galvestonexpress.com This one has a public shuttle service
http://www.galvestontransportations.com/ Limos
http://www.galvestonlimousineservice.com Limos
I hope this helps.

The only issue I have with Galveston is transportation costs to and from the airport
Other than that it is a good port to cruise out of
Even that part is getting better. If you don't want to ride the big bus the cruise lines provide, there are several private shuttle options on the island for big groups and there's a new daily public shuttle scheduled to start in April for individuals and smaller groups.

I can answer your question about the upgrades for Terminal 2 which RCCL uses. Construction is already underway and is expected to be completed prior to November 2015 when DCL will add the Disney Wonder for the remainder of the year and RCCL will bring in the Liberty of the Seas to replace Navigator.
-
Shuttles are charged $20 each way because they carry more passengers. Taxis and other small vehicles pay a monthly fee which is much less.
-
I believe you can look for cruisemates on the various roll calls. You can also find groups to share the cost of excursions and transportation between airport and cruise terminal.

It has been rainy and froggy for the better part of the past three or four weeks here in the Houston area but this weekend is supposed to be sunny and mid 70s so hopefully no fog for your trip and no rain for my softball tournament. : )

RCCL has only one ship currently in Galveston, the Navigator. It is scheduled for 45 Sunday departures this year with the Liberty of the Seas taking its place beginning Friday the 13th in November and then departing for 9 days and returning to fill the remaining Sundays for the rest of the year.
I do not yet know the schedule for 2016.

It is true and feasibility studies have been done for the placement of a third terminal. No word yet for when or where the third terminal is to be placed but the Terminal 2 upgrades should be completed this year. If I remember correctly the intent is to have the work done prior to the Disney Wonder's arrival in November.
Terminal 2 as it sits today is too small to handle the traffic for the larger ships. Once completed it should be able to handle 5,000 passengers coming and going from the ship.

Cool, I need a pic like this for my website. I think I will go to the same spot this weekend to try to get one. Hopefully the weather gets better.

Nice! Thanks for sharing this article.

Nice photos! Were you standing on the Elissa when you took the shot of the Magic from the front?

If you have never been to the Johnson Space Center it is certainly worth your time. Lots of interesting stuff to see.

Cab companies are not subject to the same port tolls as shuttle services. The difference being one is a reserved ride and carries far more passengers. The Port of Galveston has this toll in place to help pay for improvements.
Cabs do pay a port toll but not for every pickup and dropoff. I believe it is a monthly rate.

The airport has a free cell phone lot you can wait in if you arrive early.
IAH hotels
in Gulf Coast Departures
Posted
There are two main roads exiting IAH. Will Clayton Pkwy to the east which has a few hotels but lacks many amenities for the traveler. It is more heavily used by the locals, plenty of park-n-rides but not much beyond fast food restaurants and limited hotel options.
The second exit is to the south on JFK Blvd. Plenty of hotel options and many convenient walkable restaurants and saloons because remember this is Texas. Look up the Red Roof Inn on JFK Blvd on google maps and you will see many other hotels around it and a Godfather's Pizza right next door.
