  1. She could up grade, just not upgrade using the pack and go rate she wants to. The pack and go rate is only good for new bookings. That keeps people from using it for early saver.

...and it's not available until after final payment when the prices drop really low to fill the ship. Those rates have never been available to those holding bookings.

  2. I'd like to take this tour. Is this something that can be booked ahead of time or must be booked on board. What is the price of this tour. Thanks.

Here is the info that's out on Carnival.com.

    http://carnival-news.com/2009/07/23/carnivals-new-behind-the-fun-tours-offer-unique-insight-into-lines-shipboard-operations/

It can only be booked once on board - and they only take between 12 and 16 per group - so it fills up fast. We did it on the Dream - it was very informative and entertaining!

  3. Question: how are you able to choose which cabin you want? When I do a booking it only gives me 2-6 to choose from in any given category. On a single floor. Thats it. and never an option pf knowing what might be a better choice as far as view etc.

And how do you know the pricing vs another room?

This has been baffling me for months......

I just call my PVP - once we decide which itinerary. She then talks me through one cabin versus another.

Or...I do my research then call her and tell her I want to book cabin XXXX.

I also thought in the booking engine you could type in a specific cabin number to see if it was available. But I haven't looked for that option in quite a while. So...it might be gone! :o

  4. If you're staying in the Haven, do you automatically get access to Vibe?

No...VIBE is not include on the Breakaway as a Haven perk.

Which surprised us since VIBE was included as a Haven perk when we sailed the Epic - and the Haven area is so much smaller on the Breakaway. :o

  5. Below are my reasons that I love the Haven. They detail some of the perks that we love the most. :) They are based on the Epic, so they would be similar for the "AWAY" ships.

    1. Nothing like priority boarding and getting escorted onto the ship directly to the Haven to have lunch in the Haven restaurant first thing and not deal with the crowds. It is a VERY nice perk.

    2. Breakfast in bed....anything you want, the butler will bring it.

    3. Romantic dinner in the suite...or private family dinner in the suite, again anything you want. Served on white tablecloth by the butler. Want lobster but don't want to deal with the crowds to get it on lobster night? No problem! Call the butler and eat in your suite.

    4. Priority seating at the shows. This was especially nice on the Epic. We would meet up at the concierge desk 50 minutes prior to the show, be escorted down the back elevators and private hallways right into the show. No lines, first in the theater to pick where ever you want to sit.

    5. Priority access off the ship in Nassau. Just meet at the concierge desk and get escorted off the ship before the masses. We were the first 2 people off the ship on our Epic cruise last April. If you book a provate excursion, or want to get a head start to Atlantis or whatever you may do in Nassau, this is a huge perk.

    6. Private Haven sun deck and pool, hot tubs. On the Epic, we absolutely loved Posh. We spent most sea days up there. While the main pool area as a zoo with people arguing over saved chairs, etc. we never had a problem getting a nice comfy chair in Posh and enjoyed the day. The AWAY ships have Vibe, but it is not included for suite passengers. BUT, they have the private Haven sundeck that will serve the same purpose. That should take a lot of stress off of you if you are someone who wants to lounge outside during the sea days.

    8. Fresh flowers, sparkling wine in your suite when you board. It is a NICE start!

    9. Like chocolate coverd strawberries? Well, you can get then every day if you want. Just tell the butler you love them, and he will bring them.

    10. Tired and hungry after a long port day? Just tell the butler you would like snacks or small sandwiches, whatever you want, waiting for you when you re board. They will be there waiting for you.

    11. Need an iron? Call the butler. Our butler Leo on the Epic was so good he figured out our pattern by day 3 and called US every day around the time we asked for the iron asking if we needed it that day. We loved Leo.

    12. Speaking of butlers, if you get a good one, they will figure you out quickly and things want will just appear. Seriously, the good ones are THAT good. Now, you have to tip them separately, but you will be happy to do so. :D

    13. Concierge- this is one perk we used pretty much only for the priority entering of the shows, debarking, etc. Those services turned out to be huge in the overall non stress experience, so we tipped accordingly. As Adrian, the concierge in the Epic said.."I don't do lines", and let me tell you, you won't either if concierge is good.

Bottom line, if you want to sail on a mega ship, without dealing with the lines of a mega ship, the Haven suites make it a wonderful experience!

I think that's a great list of the Haven "perks" and you are 100% correct about the "good" Butler. On the Breakaway DH mentioned how much he enjoyed that the chocolate chip cookies that the Butler had delivered for one of the afternoon snacks. From then on we had a HUGE plate that "appeared" every day! ;)

Sadly - VIBE is not included with the suite perks on the Breakaway like POSH was on the Epic. We also found the Haven area to be significantly smaller on the Breakaway. Still quite nice - but definitely scaled back from the space that was available on the Epic and it appears to be the same on the Getaway from the photos I've seen.

We LOVE the Haven and the services provided. It is truly a special way to cruise. :D

  6. Sailing the Fascination 10/2014

We have done the Splendor, as well as the Magic the past two years.

Should I be concerned that this is an older ship ( 1994 I believe )?

Not at all! It's great to sail the different classes - they are are somewhat unique with different "personalities".

Just don't go expecting it to have all of the things the Splendor did - the Rotissere for instance.

  7. Absolutely!

We have booked the same cabin (aft wraps) multiple times - on sister ships and even on the same ship.

The one cabin we've rebooked on the same ship was the Breeze. We have 6501 in February and again in August. Loved it the same BOTH times - and we did not have the same cabin steward.

When you find one that you love....stick with it!

  8. What type of sauce is over the lobster ravs?

It's a nice light - but creamy - white wine sauce, I think. Not anything like a heavy Alfredo.

I really have enjoyed them when I'm not in the mood for beef or want something lighter. ;)

  9. Ok so I am going for the bone in cowboy Ribeye. Can't wait...

    Good choice!!

I think this time - since we are going more than once - I will finally get to try the "spice-rubbed prime ribeye steak". WAY too much steak for me  - but I'm betting it's reaaaallllly good! ;) :D

  10. So I am going on the Miracle this come week. Do i get the ribeye or filet? I enjoy both equally? Brad

My immediate thought was ..."YES"! ;) But - I'm guessing that's not really the answer you were looking for...

Another thought.....have your table mate get one and you get the other. That way you can have BOTH! ;) :D

  11. February is our favorite month to cruise. We have been to Cozumel several times in the winter. You will need to pack for warm mid to high 80s. The only problem with cruising during this time is coming back to the cold, dreary weather we are having at home. Have fun. Wish I was going.

    Us too!!

We like to get out of the winter snow and enjoy some sunshine. Only 17 days...but who's really counting??? ;)

  12. I'm not sure if I mentioned it during our sailing, I did go back to the main bakery spot and grab one thing, but could not finish it . . . but wanted to say I tried something from there.

They played a lot of the Cake Boss episodes during the week on the big screen in the atrium. I knew of the show but had never seen one full episode, so sat there on occasion to see what it was all about. Was actually pretty interesting. While watching that 'theme', and and the other bakery outlet being just a few feet away . . . I tried one more item. :o I shared with two other passengers I met in the atrium, and none of us were a fan of a very odd taste (sorta like when too much food coloring is used). All the items in the case did, however, look amaaaazing,

AWESOME photos....as always! A great representation of what was available everytime we stopped.

I never did try anything...too afraid that they look better than they taste. Maybe someday I will try a cupcake. Pretty sure I would not like the fondant... :o

  13. I'm a big planner and always on time, so I'm used to people coming after me, maybe it wasn't as much later as I thought. I have requested our own table. I've heard not so great things about ATD. What are your opinions on that? On port days I don't know if we'll make it back, so I figure there would be 2 nights we'd be in the buffet, but maybe ATD would be a better option. We should show up around 6:30 then if we want the kids to see the wait staff perform at 7?

    Which ship/itinerary are you sailing??

I answered on your other thread. ;)

Basically I think with a group of 2 - 4 ATD is a great option, definitely worth a try!
