  1. I’m still working, as I work in emergency services so I’ll be working right through no matter what (unless I get sick). Right now I’m only going to work and the supermarket. I feel well stocked for the most part, so will just stick with the local IGA and an awesome little middle eastern supermarket we have just across the road. I was supposed to be on the April 20 Ovation Sydney to Honolulu (which I was so looking forward to!). Royal finally officially cancelled it today. Everyone has been really good with refunds and I won’t need to call insurance for anything. Virgin Australia auto cancelled and refunded (points + pay) my LAX-MEL flight, but it wasn’t clear on what I should do with my Delta HNL-LAX flight which was booked with Velocity points. So I just applied for the travel bank credit and we’ll see what happens. Shout out to Walk Wellington (Wellington walking tour) for the loveliest email ever re cancellation, it was just a little $30 tour and he cared SO much about his customers. Please book with them if you ever find yourself in Wellington! It feels very strange to not be allowed to go anywhere. Not overseas, not interstate, not even camping in my own state. I am not complaining whatsoever, its just a weird feeling! I’m just about to cancel my six weeks of leave. So many people impacted in so many ways, I wouldn’t even know where to begin to express my feelings about it. So much uncertainty right now. For those of us in fortunate positions, we just need to help wherever we can.

  3. Hi, I keep getting this strange popup every time I open a page on Cruise Critic. It only started today and is only happening on CC.
  4. Very thorough hand washer here, hand sanitizer is only a back up. Proper hand washing is a good 20 seconds with hot water and soap (or the “Happy Birthday” song). I’m a slight germaphobe as it is, I’ll press elevator buttons with my knuckle, I won’t touch the rails when I go down the stairs. I usually get ready for dinner in my room right before, so if you see me walk straight past the hand sanitizer it’s because I have just thoroughly washed my hands and didn’t touch a thing on my way.
  5. Isle of Pines is incredible, one of my favourites. The beach where you get off the tender is beautiful enough, but follow all the people who are crossing the road and heading around to the Sacred Rock, it’s just stunning. Plonk yourself on the beach there, do some snorkeling around the rock, it’s a beautiful day.
  6. Oh wow, I’m so glad Covermore came through for you. Sad you had to use it though 😞
  7. Hey! Come over to the Australia/NZ forum and you’ll get answers there https://boards.cruisecritic.com.au/forum/564-australia-new-zealand-cruisers/
  8. Credit Card insurance is no different to any other kind of insurance - it depends on the particular policy you have and they’re all different. With my American Express I’m covered by Allianz and it’s very comprehensive, no different to what you’d get if you called Allianz yourself to buy insurance, it’s not an inferior product
  9. Hello I have a couple to add for 2021 02 May 2021 ... Tigerlily75 ... Carnival Radiance 12 Days Panama Canal 31 October 2021 ... Tigerlily75 ... Harmony of the Seas 14 Days Transatlantic
  10. Australian citizens get residency on arrival, we can live and work in NZ. (Assuming one meets character requirements).
  11. They’re not the first, the US and Australia and no doubt others also have this right. I’m sure you can refuse but you’ll probably be going straight home if you do
  12. As you go through the booking it gives you a choice. But sometimes the difference is large. I was looking at a cruise just a few days ago while their sale was on and it offered: $2074 with $200 Non-refundable deposit, or $2860 with $200 refundable deposit.
  13. The only cruise line that really goes all out to cater for solos is Norwegian, but I’ve only sailed them from the US, so I don’t know what it’s like when sailing in Australia. They have hosted solo gatherings every evening as well as dinner every night, well attended. I’m sailing solo next year on Ovation of the Seas from Sydney to Honolulu and there’s a heap of solos going and we’ve already planned dinners etc.
  14. I don’t know if there’s an actual limit, but I think it depends on the circumstances and whether the alcohol consumption is a contributing factor to the fall/injury/accident. I suspect this guy had more than “a drink with dinner” and would not have had the accident if he were sober, and thus the claim was denied. A bit like your laptop being covered for theft, but not if it’s stolen when you’ve left it on the backseat of your rental car. They expect you take reasonable care to prevent incidents before they’ll cover you, such as not leaving your belongings in view and unattended, and not drinking so much you can’t walk. I’m not sure that a beer the night before, or even at lunch would be an issue. Surely for driving at least, they’d use the .05 driving limit.
  15. I emailed the NZ High Commission about their very confusing wording. They responded that if you are an Australian Citizen travelling on an Australian passport (meeting character requirements of course) you do not need a NZeTA when travelling by cruise ship. The webpage I had included in the email was then updated, however other pages still have the confusing wording. To to clarify the confusing wording, it originally said Under “Who does NOT need an ETA” - Australian citizens travelling on an Australian passport Then under “Who DOES need an ETA” - passengers travelling by cruise ship REGARDLESS of nationality So which is it, I asked them. They need to be more concise with something so important.
