  1. Funny you asked. I booked it, then just as I went to pay realized I had put it in my husband's name. As I wanted to surprise him I deleted it and now I can't get back in to rebook in my name!
  2. I'm hoping someone who has done the Muir Woods/Sausalito bus excursion can tell me where the bus drops the passengers off for their 90 minutes at the park. Is it by the visitor's center? Thanks!
  3. I'm sorry you are missing the view sailing in and out - Portland is really beautiful.
  4. The passengers on the Zuiderdam are in Portland, Maine on a foggy day today. I snapped this picture from a local ferry. Hopefully they enjoyed the city despite the weather.
  5. My husband and son loved finding the hidden staircases in the front of the older ships. They could go from top to bottom! But they got stopped once and pointedly told these stairways were crew only <sigh>
  6. Thanks for your review! Our son always loved being on a HAL ship. We will be on Konigsdam later this fall.
  7. No shuttle at the lot we booked through Park Whiz but it's a very short walk.
  8. We have not booked anything for Monterey either. I sympathize with the residents and don't mind too much if we miss it. I'm curious to see what we get instead!
  9. Sorry you had a bad experience. We expect to lose the Monterey stop, which isn't such a loss for us as we have been there several times before.
  10. My husband and I will be doing a round-trip from San Diego along the California coast this November. Can anyone who has taken one of these cruises tell me what, for want of a better word, the 'vibe' is like? Is it mostly casual with few people dressing up at night? We've been on HAL multiple cruises and find some (Alaska especially) less focused on formal nights etc. Thanks in advance for any insight you can share.
  11. We are just back from our cruise. We parked at the lot located at 1 Black Falcon Ave, which on maps shows up as "Cruise Ship Parking - Lot C." We paid $185.50 for the week. We had no trouble finding and entering the lot, other than a short wait in traffic. We pre-paid through the park whiz website and got in with a quick scan of the QR code. We walked to the cruise terminal with our bags. The car was in fine shape when we returned. It was all very easy. www.parkwhiz.com
  12. We're on the Pearl tomorrow as well. Crossing our fingers that the weather is good but.... we're not in control so in the end we will take what we get and still have a great time.
  13. I would happily measure them for you but since I'm not back onboard until November it won't help you much!
  14. I don't find the twins on a HAL ship to be tiny, they feel like a normal twin. But they are not the larger, longer twin beds that you see a lot nowadays (popularized in college dorms I think). King sized beds are longer than standard beds, as well as being wider. I have slept o the HAL beds both together and apart and they are fine.
  15. We ended up booking parking at 1 Black Falcon Ave. through Parking Whiz. It's costing us $185.50 per car. I'm expecting the seagulls will 'decorate' the car quite a bit. But we didn't have lots of great options so....
  16. I hope you will ignore the snarky replies. The US State Department does have Baja California on a "reconsider travel" recommendation. They say "Travelers should remain on main highways and avoid remote locations. Of particular concern is the high number of homicides in the non-tourist areas of Tijuana. Most homicides appeared to be targeted; however, criminal organization assassinations and territorial disputes can result in bystanders being injured or killed. U.S. citizens and LPRs have been victims of kidnapping." We will be in Ensanada on a cruise this fall and are also watching the warnings a we decide what to do. Better safe than sorry.
  17. Thank you. I hope you all set too! We have been to multiple websites and gotten different info from all of them and the only way to contact the cruiseport for information is with a postal address (which - really? - in this day and age they have no electronic communications?!?). My husband is threatening to cancel the cruise he is so frustrated with this.
  18. When did you do this? We had a similar experience to yours but now when we look online the cruiseport is telling us that option is no longer available.
  19. We are cruising in April from Boston and I can't seem to find any current info on pre-booking our parking. The website for cruise parking bounces back and forth between a few sites none of which seem to have the same info. I was able to find a back door way to get to the site where it seems I can pre-book my parking but I didn't do it through the cruise site so I'm wary to trust that. I contacted the company that the cruise port says has the parking but they have not responded! After recently pre-booking parking and then being charged again on exit, a multi hundred dollar mistake that took several months to clear up, I'm wary of just charging ahead without clear information. I really don't want to go through that again. Parking in Boston used to be so easy..... Does anyone have any advice/info on the new system?
  20. We've cruised NCL out of both NYC and Boston and much - much! - prefer Boston. Parking is easier, embarkation is easier, it's just much more pleasant. I haven't been on Prima but have been on the Gem which is the sister ship to the Pearl. We found it a wonderful size, not too big but with enough activities to keep us well entertained. We got to Bermuda on Sunday on our last cruise and found lots to do. Everything in the Kings Wharf area was open and we enjoyed touring the National museum and the shops. I would think the activities on the Pearl would be perfect for a six-year-old. The Prima does have some extras but as others have pointed out they are more geared towards older kids. As it happens, we will be on the Pearl to Bermuda for April vacation ourselves, with three teenagers who expect to find plenty to do 😉
  21. We went out of Boston a few years back (pre-pandemic) and found the parking convenient and easy. I've been trying to book for an upcoming April cruise but am getting all sorts of wonky info - the address they say the lot is at is not the same as the lot on the map, the price they quote is different each time I input data, etc. The website has information for the 2022 cruise season but nothing for this year and my email to them for clarification has gone unanswered. Does anybody have good information on where the parking is and how much it costs?
  22. We're sailing in April from Boston and Bermuda and haven't been able to find anything definitive on the NCL website. Does anyone know if the ferry from the dockyard to St. George is going to be running?
