You said you didn't know why early diners don't just go to dinner. I told you why we, as early diners, don't just go to dinner. That wasn't an opinion, it was a factual explanation of why we do something you didn't understand.

Awful defensive lol.  I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.  And, saying I don't know why is my opinion.  I didn't realize appetizers were something that needed understanding.    BTW, Merion Mom said before I did.  Gonna go after her too?

I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the frequently stated "snacks before dinner".

SNACKS BEFORE DINNER?  How about just GOING TO DINNER?!?!??!

Depends on when your dinner is.  We eat lunch around 12 and do late seating, so by about 5 or 6 we are hungry for a little something.  For early diners, I don't know why they don't just go to dinner.  The apps aren't that great, but they fill a void when needed.

I'll live vicariously through all y'all on the shingles front.... I never had Chicken Pox growing up, and got vaccinated about twenty years ago, so I don't ever have to worry about shingles.

You're one of the few people I know who didn't have chickenpox.  I had them at age 6 and my DH was prob about 6-7.  Heck, my sons who are 40 and 38 had them when they were 7 and 4.  7 year old brought them home from first grade.  My oldest son had shingles in his senior year of college (stress induced trying to get everything done on time) yet no Dr will give him the vaccine as he's "too young".  My other DIL has health issues so her Dr gave it to her when she was 35.

Wow...that's low!  Will be curious to see how many on Allure on Monday.   We don't usually do the short cruises, but have never been on Allure.  Since she is still in PC, very convenient for us to finally meet her, and I really want to see Mamma Mia.  🙂

We were on EN to Bermuda a couple of years ago and at about 440 points we were #3 onboard.  There were only two Pinnacles on that sailing so we got recognized as D+ and being #3 point wise.   We're on Vision to Bermuda in Aug and who knows lol.

Didn't they do an award ceremony for you at the Upper Tier event?

I thought new Pinns were recognized on the cruise they go over.  I know they don't get the benefits til the next cruise.  We're with friends (who are already Pinn) on our Nov Wonder cruise when we go over and were hoping they'd be there for the recognition.

Ahhh..congrats and welcome to the club soon!  🤗  My favorite being the unlimited free internet, and add in the 7 drinks per person a day....ahhh...nice!  Oh...having breakfast in Chops is right up there too!!

Agree...the Diamond events were sooo fun!  On the little Radiance ladies the cigar bar on the VCL deck was the Diamond event (but still smelled of cigars 🤢).  That is of course now strictly the concierge lounge.

But our favorite was definitely the Freedom forward lounge.  OMG...we met so many cool people and had so much fun!  Beer, wine, jar of bar snacks...totally enjoyed and was all we needed.

We're definitely happy about the free internet as we currently share our free 48 hours each.  It'll be nice to have Chops for breakfast.  We used to enjoy the D breakfast on Grandeur in the MDR, but that's no more.

And you have come a long way since then. 🙂

I actually skipped right over it, boarding as a Platinum earning points through Emerald, and into Diamond on one single longer cruise to the canal.  Drats...never got the little green pin.  😉

The next cruise was something we looked forward to after that....and entry into the (at that time) "Diamond Event".  🥰

Ah, the diamond event.  Wine freely poured.  And bar snacks.  We were on EX for our first couple of D events and it was help up in the glass enclosed card room off the VCL (like a greenhouse when the sun was out)  We currently have 667 points and will hit 700 in Nov.  I thought I'd be 80 before we got there, but we're 64 and 66.

I can't decide what to do about the shingles vaccine. I'm 50, so I could take it now, but it doesn't last very long (5-10 years?), and there's no booster later. So do I take it now, and then find myself at risk again when I'm older and possibly in worse health? Or wait a few years so that I'm protected when I'm older? My doctor doesn't seem concerned either way when I've asked him.

I got Shringrix when I was about 58 and I'm now 64.  From what I've read, there may be a booster as new data comes out as the protection lasts 7-10 years.   I haven't seen anything that says you can't get the vaccine again later.  I reacted to both shots with lethargy and a sore arm.  I felt like I had the flu for 24 hours with each shot.

  9. You don't actually hit a status until the cruise is completed anyway.  The only exception is Pinnacle, but then you're only recognized on the cruise you go over it.  Emerald is basically a place holder.  We were scheduled to go D on our next cruise at the same time they adjusted how they do points and added Emerald.  We then were "Emerald" for that one cruise.

Just read on another site that Harmony had to make an emergency medical stop in Cozumel to drop off Captain James.  The cruise is continuing on to Roatan with the staff captains in charge.  Hopefully he is okay.

There is a thread on a Harmony page with video.  The video is disturbing.  Several people onboard and ashore confirmed the emergency stop and an ambulance before the video was posted.

The safety concern is lint buildup in the dryer ducts catching fire.

True.  Just ask any university/college.  My youngest went to a small one in Pennsylvania and I knew a volunteer fireman from there.  They had numerous calls for fires from lint as college students aren't very good at cleaning out lint traps.  How good do you think cruisers clean them out if they think it's "not their job"?

As D+ we each get one bag of free laundry, but it's just underwear, socks,t-shorts and pjs which is fine.  But, before we got any free laundry, we just packed what we needed and occasionally washed a few items in the sink.  Not a big deal.

  12. We're back on Wonder in Nov, but we have Mason Jar for boarding day.  We were on in Jan for a b2b and never got into Solarium Bistro due to it being used for kosher meals for Yeshiva (both weeks of our b2b).   Hope to use it in Nov.  Personally, I think it stinks that we didn't have any access in Jan without any notice, but whatever.  We like it for breakfast on sea days when we hang out in the solarium.

This has been an on-again, off-again FUBAR and I've quit worrying about it.  They have neither asked nor questioned the fact that the health questionnaire wasn't completed.  I think this is a relic that is on its way out (thankfully).

Agreed. I've said the same thing. Our Vision b2b a couple of weeks ago, we never received a notice or had the link available. They didn't even ask us anything at the port and that's why I think it's about dunzo.

Well it might not be a worry anyway. The website and app both won't let me put it in the cart and check out. It is only being glitchy with this one thing, so I am thinking it might be booked or they reached the limit for the deal. I will try again in a bit but honestly the price today is only a dollar or two cheaper than it has been.

App and website have been very glitchy.

But it does mean that they are on the proposed recovery schedule.  Meaning the whole channel should be open to shipping sometime near the end of May.  Roughly when the Vision gets back out of dry dock.

    Which is really good.

Cruising is the least of their worries, but if they can get big container ships and car ships in and out "normally", then the couple of cruise ships will be easy.

I didn't say anything different.  Point is, people reporting it's open to everything starting today are very incorrect.

  16. When you do your check in you will know what time you will checkin.  Gold status doesn't mean anything for checkin or boarding at the port unless you're referring to a suite or Pinnacle when you say "gold", but even then, it's dependent on when you arrive.  Once boarding starts, it usually doesn't make any difference.   We always book 1230 for boarding day lunch, but we also always get an early boarding time.  The one exception was a couple of weeks ago boarding Vision in Norfolk.  We had a 1230 reservation at Chops but didn't get onboard until 130. Boarding that day didn't even start until 1 due to some issues getting everyone off due to tides.  They took us right in.
