  1. I'd love to post a couple of photos, but I'm not sure how to... I've posted thumbnails (attachments). What am I doing wrong! I'd love to share some photos!!!

Do you have your pictures online at a website like Picasa or Webshots? If you do then you can link to your pictures there. Each website has a different way to link to your pictures so how you do it depends on where they are located.

  2. Judy, I just went through your photos of the trip. Very nice. You went several places we could not go, in part because of rainy weather. Really nice pictures.

The Rudy is a fantastic ship.

Thanks, Larry. I tell people that I am enjoying the cruise more now than I did when I was there. It was so hot and humid in November but you don't see any of that in the pictures (well, except for the pictures of us!). You just see the beauty of the islands.

You might like to see my DH's pictures of the cruise at:

He's the one with the fancy DSLR. I just have a Canon G9.

  3. Yes Judy, I hear you! We're following this wonderful thread too!

I know, and aren't they providing some wonderful information? I hope they still have the free 10 min. massage in the Sanctuary at the sailaway parties. I'd like to "try before I buy" since I have never treated myself to a real massage. (You should have seen Jim's expression when I said that they had free massages in the Sanctuary. I had to explain to him what the Sanctuary is on Princess ships.):eek::eek:

  4. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am enjoying your posts so much. It is just building the excitement for our cruise on the 24th. The brave couple who are spearheading our M&G (do you hear me Janette and Doug?) and all the others who are keeping track of all the CC activities will really appreciate all the information about how Princess is helping make them even more fun. I can hardly wait until we board the ship!

  5. Do we need Canadian dollars for payment or can we use US dollars? Also: aproximate amount? I like to get everything listed on my handy "spread sheet"

    thanks....

US $$$ are fine unless you are going to be there several days. We paid for most things with a credit card, even the taxi, and we were there for 3 days. We got some CDN $$$ at the atm at the airport but really didn't need to. We wound up spending the last of it at the airport on the way home.

  6. We really enjoyed Granville Island. The food available there is varied and interesting but as far as I could tell, food is only served at walkup food stands. If you are looking for a nice sit-down restaurant then Granville Island is not the place to go. However, if you would like a variety of things to eat (entree one place, dessert another, beverage another) then you would enjoy GI. It is interesting to just walk the aisles of the market to see all the things for sale there. It is something like the market in Boston. The location is scenic and offers great views of the waterfront and English Bay especially if the weather is nice. The water taxi ride is also fun.

The water taxi only takes cash and exact change so be prepared for that.

  7. I thought that I was done with my questions, but I came up with one more. Looking at a map, it doesn't look like Granville Island is far from the Sheraton. Is it walkable? Can you walk over the bridges or are they for cars only? Putterdude, I'll be waving to you from the Diamond in less than two weeks!

    Judy

If you want to walk, I would walk down to the end of Hornby St. and take the water taxi. Last year it was $2.50 or $1.25 for seniors. It was a beautiful ride and so much easier than battling the traffic and walking across the bridge. The water taxi lets you off right on the dock on Granville Island where all the action is. I have some pictures here:

Plan to eat on Granville Island. The food selection is wonderful! Everything that you can imagine.

  8. ok, what am I doing wrong here? I can't get the picture to paste to my reply??? Help me out a little. I have several pics I want to past, lol

The easiest way to put an image on CC is to post your pictures to a image storage site such as Webshots, Photobucket, Picasa Web, etc. and then insert a link to any pictures that you want to display. The pictures will show instead of the link. I use Webshots which gives you all the information for displaying pictures on a forum at any one of 4 sizes. You just cut and paste the HTML info that Webshots gives you. Most of these websites are free unless you have a lot of pictures to store on the site.

  9. Expedia has the same Best Western on their site for $112 plus tax (I'm at $185) but they specify two people. At the very worst I'm sure I could pay extra for a rollaway so maybe I'll take the chance. I wanted to be closer to Robson but is the Drake Street neighborhood good for walking around also?

It is an easy walk to Yaletown. It is also just 2-3 blocks away from the water taxi to Granville Island (well worth the trip). The Vancouver Trolly and the Big Red Bus stop is 1/2 block away.

  10. I currently have reservations at the Best Western (Drake Street) for my husband, adult daughter, and I. I know I can get a better rate thru Priceline, but I'm concerned we may get a room with only one bed, which happens frequently in NYC when using Priceline. Does anyone know if most of the hotels coming up on Priceline have two beds in the room?

If I end up staying at the Best Western, is it a good area?

We stayed at the Best Western last year and liked it very much. The staff was friendly and efficient. The besdwas very comfortable. They have a free shuttle to Canada Place. It is a shorter (and cheaper) taxi ride from the airport than places closer to Canada Place. It is a convenient location for us since we spent time seeing Vancouver before the cruise. We arrived fairly early and were given a room high up with a great view. We had a king bed though.
