Where did you get that toy boat? It looks so real.:D

I tried to post a picture from Flickr and it didn't work. What am I doing wrong?:(
I can't answer your question since I've never used Flickr but I followed the link in my email message. Beautiful picture!

These were in our front yard! The huge beds in the median must be quite a sight. We have California poppies in some medians!
A few years ago NC had poppies in all different colors in the medians and interchanges. It was beautiful!

Beautiful daylilies, dileep. The interstate highways in North Carolina have huge beds of them in the median and at the interchanges. They were at theie peak last week.

We just returned from North Carolina and brought a bushel of South Carolina peaches home with us. After sharing some with friends and making a peach cobbler, I spent much of today preparing the rest for the freezer so that we can enjoy them next winter. Yum!

I've discovered that you can just cut and paste pictures from Picasa albums. This picture was taken yesterday. There is a pair of young eagles in a nest on a power "pole" with one of their parents.

This isn't a great picture but it was a beautiful sky tonight. You could see both Venus and Jupiter flanking the crescent moon.

Wow, that's a tough one, they're all great. I think I might submit Mt. Rainier
because it is more unique to Alaska than the others, but they are all good!
Mt. Rainier?

To our great surprise, we had snow tonight. It didn't last long but it came down fairly hard for a while and dusted the ground. This is the view from our front door.

This is a picture from my Christmas trip to Ft. Knox. We drove up to Louisville one day and went to the Louisville Slugger Museum. I could have done better with the composition. Taken with a Kodak P & S.
I like the composition. It really emphasizes the size of the bat.

Last night we went to Christmas Town at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg VA. All the Christmas lights were beautiful. It gave me a chance to try some night shots. All the shots are hand held using my Canon G9 P&S.

Our grandkids "up a tree". This just about scared me to death when I saw them!

My DH and I just prepared the ambrosia for Christmas dinner. It is made from oranges straight from the grove sent to us by his cousin in Florida. Yum...I can hardly wait to eat it!

Justin, your throw-away shots are better than most people's keepers.

Beautiful photos Judy. I am not sure if I would rather take the warmer weather or the beautiful fall foliage. Unfortunately, we've had neither here in the city.
Hi Britter! That photo is lovely. Looks like it could be just up the road in High Park on the trails. :)
I miss the colors too but we still have time here. Peak on the coast isn't until early to mid-November. It just doesn't seem that there is much early color at all. At Ft. Monroe there are so many live oaks, pines, and evergreens that you don't see much color even on a good year. This is particularly true inside the moat.
Britter, your picture is beautiful. It definitely calls you to take a walk down the road through the fallen leaves.

Here's a link to all my Ft. Monroe pictures:

That is actually a functioning lighthouse. As you can see, we have very little fall color here. I suppose it has been too warm for pretty color. I am enjoying seeing the colors elsewhere through your picture.

Today as a beautiful fall day in Tidewater Virginia and we had a chance to go to Ft. Monroe to take a series of pictures. My DH retired from there 10 years ago and the Fort closed in September. We wanted to take pictures of the beautiful buildings and scenery there before it is damaged or destroyed. Here are a few pictures from today:

And we don't get the pretty fall colours of the trees - they stay as green as in the above shot all year round.
I guess that is what keeps us traveling - seeing something different from our own backyards.
-
Now that's something you don't see in backyards in the US.

Nice pictures Larry. We live in Tidewater VA and have very little color. The leaves are falling but they didn't show much color. What a disappointment.

Right, no post processing. Just converting the RAW file to a jpeg so it could be put on my photo hosting site, but the image posted here is exactly what I saw when I threw my card into my card reader. I guess I could have used another term but I was just trying to let you know it was not HDR as you thought it might have been.
I rarely just aim the camera without thought going into the composition, aperture/shutter speed , type of metering , and ISO at a minimum.
Seldom do you have a lighting situation like the one that you had for the sunset photo that you displayed earlier though. It was really striking. Often it takes HDR to achieve the same effect that you got right out of the camera.
My DH shoots in RAW and loves the flexibility that it gives him in post-processing.
BTW, I always enjoying viewing your photos.
-
Mother Nature is something else, but I think most of us here do more than just aim the camera at something.
Now, you are the one who said that the shot was straight out of the camera - so no post-processing. Right? :)
