  1. http://www.bing.com/weather/forecast?q=seattle+weather&unit=F&FORM=DTPWEA

10 day forecast has one partly sunny day with rain or showers for the other 9. Showers are often accompanied by sun breaks!

We arrive May 11 and leave on the cruise on May 13. Our full day in Seattle shows 96% precip. :( I hope your weather guessers are like ours. If they are then we will probably have a bright, sunshiney day.

  2. Judy, I love the last pic!

Thanks! Do you think it could be called a garden escapee? I just love columbine. I have many more pictures from the day on Picasa (link below). We try to get to Williamsburg at the peak of the spring flower season. This is Garden Week so it was the perfect time.

  3. What a beautiful Spring day you enjoyed. I really like the image of the lake with the dock leading into the middle of the frame. Is that a wild turkey you captured? I'm really jealous...still raining here. We supposedly live in the desert. I should pinch myself for complaining. I will be more grateful for this extra moisture come August :).

Thanks! The "dock" is actually part of a walkway that runs through the grounds of the Virginia Living Museum. The wild turkey is actually captive in one of the animal enclosures along the trail. The turkeys were with the deer. Other areas have foxes, coyote, vultures, eagles, bobcat, otters, and several others, all in their natural habitats. There is also a huge screened aviary with many birds native to our area including herons, pelicans, ducks, etc. There are many indoor exhibits and a planetarium. It is a great learning resource for the local school children (and adults!). More photos from the day are here:

BTW, it is raining today and much colder than yesterday. :(

  4. We relocated for a new job...2285 miles from California to Georgia.

Big hassle, but they have fall colors here!

I thought that pano looked more like east than west. My first thought was that it looked just like a park here in Virginia a few miles away from me. My DH is from GA. You will find lots of beautiful places to practice your art there. I'm sure that it is a big change for you though!

  5. We didnt have anything planned when we were in Kodiak last year. Upon chance we found out about Making Memories charters and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a driving tour in a 6 person van but the other people that previously signed up never came so we were the only ones on the tour. He took us to For Abercrombie, high above Kodiak for an awesome view of the city, to a salmon fish hatchery that normally doesn't give tours but he knew the people so we were able to go, out of the beaten path where he had seen a brown bear print the day before, etc. Too much fun to list and we had the best day of our trip and were sad to leave. In Kodiak you need at least a rental car or a guide or both to get the most out of your time here. There is not too much to do without acres to at least one of these.

I've seen several mentions of Making Memories. Could you tell me how much he charges for tours? Is it by the hour our by the tour? There is no information on the website. Thanks.

  6. I post pictures on Picasa (free image editor from Google which offers 2GB of free webspace for photos) and from there post them on CC. Here are the instructions for doing that:

Posting pictures from Picasa to CruiseCritic

Go to your Picasa Web Album and click on the picture that you want to post on CC. Click on “Link to this photo.” In the right column, select the size that you want to post and select "Image only". Click on the HTML in the bottom box to select it. Then click CTRL-C to copy to the clipboard.

In the reply box in CC click the Insert image icon.* A small box will open for you to insert the HTML code that you just copied. Click CTRL-V to paste the HTML into the box. The picture should appear in the reply box. Click Preview Post to see if it is OK. Then click Submit reply.

*Please note that depending on your security setting, you might receive a warning message. If you do then “allow” access and click the Insert image icon again.

  7. this one is amazing, I'll be sitting for hours now trying to get a similiar picture, Thanks Judy ;)

Thanks, it was fun trying to catch that drop. After several (many!) tries, I finally set my camera on burst mode and took about 20 pictures before I caught the drop in mid-air. I also used macro mode and snow setting. I actually caught drops twice!

I have lots of pictures at the Picasa link below (go to My Photos) including the 2nd drop and some interesting HDR images.
