  1. Anything east of 61st St. only takes minutes to reach any terminal. The island is only 2 miles wide at its widest. There are many options in all prices ranges. Choose what works the best for you.
  2. You are over thinking. What hotel is 15 minutes away? Nothing is very far on the island with the exception of West End. 14th St goes directly to the terminal (only entrance) Drop off signage is easy. Allow time for disembarking passengers to leave terminal. We never go before 1 PM and never wait.
  3. On Radiance from 4/21 to 5/19. No issues including a 2 1/2 hour zoom meeting.
  4. The closest are The Tremont and Harbor House. Nothing is very far away on the island. check visitgalveston.com and google maps
  5. No hotels within walking distance. Nothing is very far on the island. Lots of hotels on Seawall Blvd, 2 downtown; Harbor House and The Tremont. Thousands of vacation rentals.
  6. There are several restaurants; Gaido's is at 39th, a few blocks to the west is Landry's, Google maps will show you what is in the area.
  7. Flores owns Shark Shack. Mike Dean owns Tsunami. Yaga's, Blvd. Seafood and Yaga's Entertainment - responsible for Mardi Gras. Galveston Restaurant Group has Saltwater Grill, Taquilo's, Sly Bar, Gumbo Diner, Mario's Seawall, Papa's Pizza and Gumbo Bar. Dennis Byrd owns the Spot and has the Holiday Inn Express next door and 3200 block of Seawall. He started as a dishwasher, worked his up to purchase in 2002. Ha since expanded it to 5 venues and built a 5 story parking garage for the business. Many interesting stories in and about Galveston
  8. The best crawfish - ever! All the food is excellent. During the Covid shutdown, ordered crawfish from Huli Hul- still steaming when arrived home. Granted, we live 3 minutes away! Another favorite is Mama Theresa's Flying Pizza. Everything is delicious and smells so good. Their Manicotti is to die for. Same as above during covid. In the winter, I put the order on the heated seat😅 The Steakhouse is pricey, but so worth it
  9. Miss the Pelican Club. Gaido's is good, but pricey. I feel it operates on legend. Don't like Nick's at all.. This my opinion of 40+ years For seafood we go to Katie's, both to eat and purchase. The other being Blvd/ Other high end restaurants we prefer are Rudy & Paco's, Vargas Cut & Catch, Number 13 and Steakhouse at the San Luis.
  10. No. Just added additional restaurants.
  11. I was responding to walking distance from Grand Galvez. Blvd. is 2 additional blocks from Pleasure Pier. Few locals go to Fish Tales; view is good, food not so. Many of Landry's owned restaurants are excellent, but not all.
  12. Walk a few blocks more to Blvd. Seafood - excellent and locally owned, Seawall & 28th. Fish Tales is another chain restaurant.
  13. Millers is a block away. Local favorite. Pleasure pier is 4 blocks from hotel
  14. Taxi Car services don't want to transport locally
  15. Galveston has numerous hotels, most on the beach front, and many new. The premier hotels are the Galvez, San Luis and Tremont House. Galveston is a destination and, as with most destinations, costs more. Options include full service, limited service and basic in all price ranges. FYI The hotel on the pier, Flagship, was badly damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008 and was torn down.
  16. Uber drivers have been going in and out of the port, but illegally.. The Wharves Board approved a contract with Uber at their March 28th meeting. Contract to be executed in April with an effective date of May 1, 2023.
  17. Ask your cabin steward. Easily available; we asked for and received on Artic Circle crossing.
  18. Hilton Hotel is at 5300 Seawall Blvd; Kroger is at 5730 Seawall Blvd.
  19. Doable, but not probable. Would not even try. Too many variables. You will need to walk out of the terminal property, across Haborside Dr to 14th St. to meet with Uber. Uber is not allowed in the port facilities until contract with port is signed and to be effective May 1st.
  20. Today's example: Beautiful weather, clear skies. Fatal accident on Hwy 45 south near island just after noon. Hwy closed with only feeder street open. Traffic backed up for miles and hours.
  21. IAH is 70 miles from Galveston. There is major construction on the highway to Galveston. Arrive the day prior.
