  1. Hi all,

Does anyone have any tips for departing from Port Canaveral? We are dropping a car off at Avis and they will shuttle us to the port. From there on, any tips? If we only have smaller-sized roller bags, do we need to use tags and give them to the porters, or can we bring them on?

    Thanks so much.

  2. Not surprising that they don't offer the packages on the Booze Cruises. They make a ton of money selling drinks individually on these cruises.

They would probably make more on me if they would allow me to purchase the package. I like the idea of trying it and it's more affordable to do for only 3 days- but I doubt I would drink that much without the package.

  3. Now that we have heard directly from Melia that they will not be restricting passes during spring break and there won't be a problem, there's no need to purchase in advance. Either way, you still have to go to the front desk to pay, may as well pay it all at once.

This info is good to know. We've been waiting to hear from Melia on this.

I wouldn't go that far based on the email I got. (Are you referring to something else?) I wouldn't want people to think it I is guaranteed. She just said it wouldn't be a problem or something like that. I am going to print the email and bring it with me, just in case.

  4. It's cheaper on *****.com

We bought our passes from them last time and they guaranteed a refund in the event of bad weather or if the ship doesn't dock for any reason.

CruiseControl, thanks so much for the info. You are right, if you want to book one of the two food options, *****.com is cheaper. However, if you just want access to the faciltiies, it is cheaper to buy it at the resort. Since we will be going after lunch and leaving before dinner, we will go through the resort.

  5. Cruise Control- I havent't seen it cheaper, are you allowed to share a link? I could only find a third party that charges more. Also, what if it rains, do you lose a deposit if you choose not to do it day of?

  6. Hi all,

I have been feverishly researching the Hilton Vs. Melia for a day pass coming up in a few weeks. I decided to email Melia directly and received the following info:

"Thank you for connecting with us here at the Melia Nassau Beach regarding your upcoming stay.

We are happy, that you choose us as your vacation destination , where a warm Bahamian welcome awaits you. With regards, to the day passes for the day.

    Adults= $30.00 per person

Kids from 4-12 yrs. old $15.00. There is no charge for the 2yrs old. If you would like to include lunch as well, at the Oh Grill by the poolside $50.00 for adults and children 25% off the $50.00.

Market Grill our buffet restaurant $75.00 per adult and children 25% off the $75.00. You can book this when you arrive at the hotel.

We look forward to your arrival."

I asked about availability and reserving in advance, because we will be coming during Spring Break. The reply was not to worry and that we will be welcomed. (I do know a company who allows you to book in advance but they add on extra money.)

I have decided on Melia and buying the passes "day of," that way we aren't locked into it if it is poor weather.

  7. I've used them in the past. You present your pass/receipt from them and the tour guide honors it. Pretty smooth process..plus they offer a guarantee. I'd use them again.

Great to know. Thanks. I just emailed them directly to ask about a room for the day, as well.

  8. There is no Starbucks on board.

Coffee is free in the dining room at all times. Often at dinner I have a cup as soon as I sit down.

That's what I thought (re: Starbucks) but then I read a review with a pic of a starbucks cup. . . maybe it was from a port? My eyes are glazing over, lol.

Good to know about coffee in the dining room. Thanks!!

  9. There is free coffee for room service, windjammer, dinning room breakfast.

The only time you pay for coffee is at the coffee shop, which offers lattes. Cost is around $3-$4.

Good to know, is the coffee in the dining room Starbucks? Is the coffee only free in the dining room at breakfast as you said or also at dinner? Thanks again.

  10. Haven't been on her. . . . yet. (3/14.) That said, I researched Enchantment vs. Majesty for a long time and Majesty was consistently cheaper, but not as well reviewed. (Especially her inside cabins are a lot smaller, I am told.) When I saw Enchantment drop to the same price as Majesty, I jumped on it. Looking forward to it and will review when I get home.
