  1. Miami?

Since you claim JFK. Taxis are lined up across the street from the port.

Right. Is the Manhatten port similar to Miami and are they flat rate like they are there? Trying to decide whether to do taxi or private service to JFK.

  2. Wow - thank you so much for the information! We get in a little after 9 and the ship leaves at 5 so we should be fine getting there on time. I'm thinking private company or Supershuttle private car- we did that in DC. We heard about the construction so we decided to fly in really early. Was going to do Carnival transfer but heard they tend to wait around too. Any private service recommendations? Really appreciate all your insight. First time in New York.

  3. I've read a lot of posts and since I am a big pop person it looks like it would be worth it for us since I don't want to bring it from the room. I'm assuming besides ordering pop at meals we can order juices that we would otherwise have to pay for - is that correct?

  4. Yes, there are beach loungers located right there by the pier, to the left or to the right.

A lot depends on whether you're the only ship in port, or if you are the second ship in port. If you arrive after someone else, it might be difficult to find a free beach-lounger to the left of the pier (by Margaritaville). If you're first to arrive, or the only ship in port, you shouldn't have too many problems.

Note that while most of the loungers in this area are free (marked "GTCC"), there are about two rows of loungers close to the water where locals can charge for use of them. The loungers by the pool are all free, and they're not too far from the beach, as you'll discover.

There are loungers to the right of the pier also. Those are all free and the beach is less hectic. There are no restrooms there but the cruise terminal plaza restrooms aren't too far away.

Loungers by what pool are free?

  5. Am I the only guy that dresses up for his wife? She loves dressing up so I try to compliment her with my attire. What others choose to wear is up to them as I really couldn't give a damn. Should I be the only person wearing a tux' then so what!

Good for you. Again, wear what you want and are comfortable in. Don't dress for everyone else. Just be happy! Remember you are on vacation!!!!
