  1. I think the plan will be that the bars will have 'python' soda from a trigger mechanism. Just back from the Eclipse and I noticed 1 bar had this installed, the other bars were using bottles of soda to top up classic drinks.

To me that seems like a horrible waste of bartender time to give fountain soda to everyone who doesn't have a plan. The lines would be horrible. They sell a relatively inexpensive pop package and I think that's the way people will need to go if they really want pop. I never heard anyone without a package asking for "fountain soda" when I was standing at a bar or even saw anyone get pop in a glass.

  2. There were not "fountain drinks" anywhere on the ship. It was all cans. My husband had classic and one day stopped and got himself a can and asked if he could get a second or did he need my card and they said no problem and gave him two.

If you don't have a package the price was $3.

I did go to Martini Bar and the drinks were pretty standard $12 each. So if you had the classic plan you would pay $3 (+ grat) to get one. I had premium so no issue.

Truthfully if you aren't both big drinkers or picky drinkers I wouldn't upgrade both of you. Actually it would have been cheaper for me to not upgrade and just pay the difference as I went for the times I needed it. I only asked (and sometimes just got) top shelf because I had the plan. One everything if mixed in you really can't even tell the difference.

Classic has more than enough options.

  3. Thank you for the review!

It will be almost 20 months since my last Celebrity cruise when we board the Equinox next month.

-Do you remember if they are still airing Top Chef Episodes on the TV and if so what season they were showing?

-Anything food wise to skip or not to miss?

-Did they serve scones in the afternoon in the buffet?

    Thank you in advance!

Yes there was top chef on the tv - not sure what season.

    Did not see scones.

I thought the stir fry was awesome - I had it with sweet soy sauce - yum!

My son the the burrito station on the last day and he said it was awesome.

If you go to the MDR I had the blue cheese souffle for an app and it was amazing. Son had the steak every night we were in MDR and he said was really good.

The dinner in Oceanview is nice because they make to order steaks, chicken and pork. Nothing that is sitting around. You tell them what you want and how you want it and they grill it for you while you wait.

  4. It is definitely not like it used to be as far as dinner dress code. We have done the tux and gown thing for years and this year my husband said "no jackets" so he just took a dress shirt, tie and dress pants and looked fine. Probably right in the middle of those really dressed up and those still in jeans and polo shirts. And we only did the dining room 3 nights which we have never done before.

Truthfully, I really didn't mind the casual. I wore long dresses 2 nights and felt very dressed up for the crowds nowadays, but I enjoyed them and know I looked nice and therefore had a nice time regardless of anyone else.

I say wear what you are comfortable in and enjoy your evening. If you are worried about what others are wearing then you need to go somewhere else because you will just get yourself all worked up on the cruise. It is not like it used to be at all.

The only thing I really thought was wrong was I saw them letting a couple men in (after the first night) in shorts who really should have been turned away. I saw a lot of tacky and a lot of things that people should not have been wearing unless they were a few sizes smaller or the clothes were a few sizes larger (if you know what I mean). For those of you who get all upset about what people where - sorry but you can't control peoples tastes. Just enjoy your time.

  5. Thanks for the review, we will be on Equinox in August and cannot wait! We received the classic beverage package when we booked and was told if we wanted to upgrade to premium, we both had to upgrade. I notice you had one of each, how did you pull this off? Also did you spend anytime in the casino? If so what type of table games did they have? Besides the normal games like Blackjack, roulette and poker tournaments? Again thanks for all the info.

No you both don't have to upgrade. I upgraded because my husband doesn't drink much. I debated about paying the difference and in my case probably would have been cheaper to just pay the difference for the drink prices but I didn't want to deal with the signing all the time. Also, watch your bill because on day one we got charged for something at one of the bars that was not ours. No problem getting it reversed but I have heard this happens quite often.

As far as casino, we had fun, I like slots but they were going crazy at the craps table. I also one the big cover all jackpot on day one so that was a sweet bonus!

  6. We will be sailing on her again in November ... really looking forward to it!! Thanks for your comments ... sorry to hear what happened in St Marten. Sounds like a bit of a disaster.

Any comments about the reliability of the internet??

My son had a small internet package and didn't have any issues at all.

  7. We were told by cabin steward he would bring them or we could just grab from the deck. We did grab for one and the other day he brought them. I can't imagine there would be a way for them to keep track of what you took off and brought back. The one day it was pouring so hard we used the towels to keep the water off us and there was a huge basket to throw the towels into when we got back on the ship since they were soaked.

  8. Any questions - please ask.

Comments are: I had premium alcohol and husband had classic alcohol (and son had premium non-alcohol). We could all get cans of pop. I never ever saw fountain drinks anywhere on the ship. You had to go to a bar to get cans of pop. Also, you were able to get water and drink at the same time. The only thing that was a standalone was juice, coffee and milk.

Never an issue who took the cards and ordered what.

Shows were good - liked Topper, did not really like Life. Really liked the final comedian - he was amazing.

Upper bunk worked out great for 13 year old son versus the lower couch/bed.

He went to the kids get together the first night but then never went back. There were a lot of kids and they did offer a lot for them to do if you have kids that want to take part.

MDR was good - we only went 3 nights and did the buffet the rest of the time. We were happy with both. Food was really very good. Stir fry station and the burrito bar seemed to be the favs. Really good salad bar. As always great burgers at Mast.

Always found chairs - sometimes by pool but mostly up top which was fine with us. Sat at the Sunset Bar one night and had an amazing view.

Biggest disaster was St. Martin. Horrible weather to the point where they didn't think they could dock - but they did. Went to shore excursion gathering and was told we MUST go to the excursion in order to get our money back after talking with captain/crew. That was a crock! We walked in a torrential downpour with horrible winds, thunder (and then lightening) and were told maybe we would get money back because visibility was "still okay." What a joke. Got back to ship (after fighting winds and storm) - totally drenched - to the point where they were standing there giving us towels as we walked on board - only to find they finally cancelled all excursions and gave everyone their money back. I think the ship botched this one by even allowing us off the ship in the first place and then the horrible guide who told us we MUST go to the ship if we wanted money back. Worst experience I have ever had on a ship and totally shocking!

Otherwise trip was amazing and wonderful and I'm not letting that once thing bring it down in any way, shape or form!

If I think of anything else to offer I will.

  9. should I upgrade to premium or just pay the difference? First, we are not huge drinkers and really have no specific preferences. I would like to try a few of the "specialty" drinks which are in premium but other than that am pretty fine with the classic package. Just wondering if people think worth the upgrade or just to pay as I go?

One other question - are the frozen slushy drinks served by the pool included in classic or premium?

    Thanks so much.

  10. My gosh - can't believe the responses out a simple question. Surprised actually by some of them.

I have to say that we (my family - kids too since they were infants) find that on every cruise we go on and place we go out to or on vacation, find that we are usually more dressed up than 95% of the other people we see. We take suits (and tuxes) and evening gowns on the cruise and the places we travel but when I ask a simple question about whether it was necessary for us to change before going to the show (where you sit in the dark) after having a casual dinner at the buffet (where we may or may not be in shorts, khakis and a polo and sundress has people in a tizz.

As for the guy who thinks people go to dinner in bathing suits and then head to a show I don't know what type of people you associate with, but its not with anyone I know nor was that implied in any shape or form.

I will just use my own judgment which now I see is the route I should have went with in the first place.

  11. If you are wearing a bathing suit & tank top to the theater for the sake of a modicum of dress, please don't! At least wear decent shorts & a collared shirt. If you want to go looking sloppy, feel free, but also know you'll get some nasty looks.

I don't appreciate the nasty response. My husband, son and I are just planning to have dinner a couple nights at the buffet then maybe heading to go to the show. I am always shocked how people respond to the easiest question with snarky comments.

  12. Can anyone confirm if this is correct - if I have a classic alcohol package than I can get a "coffee drink" (specialty) up to $9 and if I wanted one that is $10 then I just pay the difference? I see that is the case with mixed drinks but wasn't sure what the limit was on coffee. I know beer was $6. Thanks.

  13. We were on Summit to Bermuda two years ago in June. It was awesome. We did aqua class. We were docked with the Breakaway and the people we ran into said great ship but lines, lines, lines. They had to make reservations for the shows, dinners, everything. Pools were jammed. They all said how big it was but didn't have room to accommodate all the people. Hearing that we were very happy we went with the Summit. Going on the Equinox next month with our son this time. Can't wait.

  14. We are taking our 13 year old son on the Equinox June 25th. I am sure he will love it - even without all the slides, etc. The fact that he is on a cruise he will find amazing. Can't wait to see his eyes when he sees how big the ship really is. Looks from the roll call there are quite a few kids. Just from the 46 that have signed up it looks like almost 20 so with all the others who haven't signed up it should be great and plenty of new friends to meet! Funny about the comment about the xbox in the room. I told my son "absolutely not" when he asked me if he could bring his gaming system. I also did not buy the internet on purpose. I want him to enjoy the cruise not sit in the cabin - he can do that at home!

  15. Is there something on the SeaPass that shows what drink package you have? I read somewhere that if you do it after boarding you get a sticker which seems like it would fall off. If it does show on the card - any idea how far before the trip we need to do it so that it is on our cards?

    Thanks.
