  1. I see lots of people who are braver than I am booking outside companies - it would make me so nervous that we would be late that I would never enjoy my day. We had a bad experience in Conzumel with a driver that tried to overcharge us that I never want to do that again. Question - we are going to San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Marten in June (husband, myself and 13 year old son) and wondering what your favorite Celebrity tour is or favorite thing on your own to do?

    Thanks

P.S. - yes I know about the other port board.

  2. On the Equinox June 25th with our 13 year old son. Our veranda room will actually sleep four but just the 3 of us this trip. Do we have a choice which sleeping option for him - bed or Pullman? If do, any recommendations which to choose?

    Thanks

  3. Being fairly new I didn't realize different travel agents offer their own OBC. Mine obviously did not or I wouldn't be asking this question. Is this something offered up front or do I need to ask about it? Since they didn't say anything I'm assuming mine doesn't give that perk. Should I ask before final payment or is that tacky? How do you find these TAs?

  4. Thanks for all the responses. Had to laugh at a few of them! My son is the cautious type so not concerned about alot of things. I think I'm much more nervous than he is. I think the best thing to do is just have him take the cell and pay as we go if we get separated. He won't be away from us most of the time but in case he did want to hang out I didn't want to stop him. I'm the nervous nellie! He knows where to find me - in the sun  and his father - in the gym! lol

I think I will call Verizon though and see if there is some kind of plan we can use.

I did not buy the internet or take it as a "perk" on purpose - if it was there he would use it and I don't want him on the phone or games the whole trip. I thought last trip we face timed and that didn't cost extra but I could be wrong.

Again thanks for all your comments!

  5. We are cruising in June with our 13 year old. I don't want to watch him every second and want him to enjoy the cruise and feel he has freedom to do things, but I also want to keep in touch with him while on board because I know I will worry. We have Verizon and iphones - anyone know what the texting charge is or a better way to keep in contact?

    Thanks!

  6. We were on Summit in Aqua class 2 years ago. My husband who loves the gym and spa didn't use the spa area at all. it does not have the heated lounger area that they have on other ships. We went through the aroma area and never ever used it. I don't think you will have any issues getting spa appointments in my opinion. The best part of Aqua class on Summit if eating in Blu. It was amazing and would be totally worth it if not a crazy price difference. I wouldn't do it for the spa. You can upgrade and use the aroma area for I think $99 for the whole week if you are interested in that (which is what it was 2 years ago).

  7. I had Corona Light the whole cruise on classic package and loved it. Never had an issue with any drink I wanted - we had pina coladas, bloody mary's, cosmos, vodka martini, southern comfort Manhattan, whiskey sours, and all the other colorful drinks they serve. We just always made a point of saying classic package and they would make it with that alcohol. The martinis were a bit smaller but so what - order one and then order another. There is not limit, just the size.

  8. There are larger tables for larger parties but they don't seat you with other people. They seat you on an "on arrival" basis. We sat most nights in a table for two by the window (which a couple times we had to wait for) and always seemed to end up talking to the people next to us.

  9. I wouldn't worry about making reservations. When we were on in June the specialty restaurants were very empty most nights. We ate in Blu every night and just looked at the other menus that day and really didn't see anything any better than they were offering in Blu. Just my opinion.

  10. I was monitoring this for quite a few weeks before we left and they were switching every week from one side to the other. Then the Dawn ran aground and ever since then they continued to dock port side. We were starboard and faced out over the water which was really nice and relaxing and at first I thought I was disappointed but really wasn't.

  11. Ken was okay as far as CDs go. I think he just came back on the Summit so if you are sailing in the next 6 months or so you will have him. I thought he was a good sport getting into the pool in his suit for the crew vs. guest water volleyball game.

I agree with other comments about Captain Leo. Thought he was awesome. Saw him everywhere. Even in the Oceanview eating. Had a nice talk with him one night walking to the show. He's 37 and been a captain for the last 3 years. I think it's smart on Celebrity's part getting in some younger blood on their ships. He was great!

  12. Just on board 6/14 - ate at Blu the first morning because it was raining and it took forever. Thought maybe it was a fluke so went on my own the second day it was worse. Took forever to get someone to wait on me. After that did the Oceanview. They have it all except the muesli cart. They make whatever eggs you want or omelets at the end station and also have two other omelet stations toward the front. If you don't mind a leisurely breakfast they definitely do Blu. However, if you are like me and want to just eat and go then the Oceanview was a perfect alternative!
