Also this thread has some more details as well as details about another outfit that offers a similar excursion ...
-
We did this tour in April of this year ... It was a total blast! The jet skis were in perfect working condition and the guide allowed you to have fun with them ... The groups are very small like maybe 8-10 jet skis at a time and that adds to the fun.
We booked the transport with them and it was like $5 / person each way - paid in cash.
Feel free to ask questions as there are many folks on this board that have taken the same tour ...
-
Thanks :)
Is the beach area is nice and has anyone spent the afternoon there?
It's very pretty & quiet, and I don't recall there really being anyone on the beach. The hotel has a restaraunt and bar near the pool, but I didn't see anything like beach service nor do I really recall there being beach chairs - could have been there (stacked up).
Here is a link to the hotel and they have pictures of the property ...

Has anyone done this excursion that can tell us what to expect? Maybe some pics of the area. I have seen some where they are swimming in a pool below a falls. Also would it be possible to combine with Rafting the Martha Brae. (Close to one another?)
Expect tons of fun & very few people. Was there in April & we only saw around 10 other people the entire two hours. Here's some pics ... http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotos-g147312-d1997485-Blue_Hole-Ocho_Rios_Saint_Ann_Parish_Jamaica.html

I am making reservations! thanks for all the insight. One more question, do I have to pre-reserve a maasage or can I decide when I get there?
Either way works ... When you arrive & get situated a sales rep will approach you & show you all the offerings. You can schedule a massage at that time. They'll only ask you once though - meaning they won't keep bugging you if you say no.
-
Do they give you the option of spending the afternoon at the Grand Caymanian for an extra charge?
No extra charge. You can stay if you like & arrange for a taxi.
-
Thank you. My kids have 6305 in November and this gives us a good indication.
Not sure if you know, but that's the Ben & Jerry's Sweet ... Search this forum for that because it affords you suite benefits ... CL access is a big one that many would enjoy. If that's something you would like, you may want to switch your reservations so that is "appears" that you are staying in it.

Nachi offered parasailing in April ... no idea of the prices. When we arrived & got settled on the beach someone showed us a placard with the activities on it & I recall two young ladies next to us on the beach opting for it.

After the tour, did the transportation bring you back to the cruise pier/town or did you have to arrange your own taxi back?
For Island Mktg LTD, the driver will be waiting for you when you return from your tour. She'll give you 10 mins or so to collect your stuff and use the outdoor shower by the resort pool. She will drive you back to port & drop you off adjacent to the cruise terminal.
You pay the driver in cash ... $5 / person

I've done the tour with Island Mktg LTD ... The transport is $5/person & is reserved at the time you make the reservation.
You will meet the driver outside the port terminal past Hard Rock. The driver is a taxi driver and was the same person that processed our waivers and payment at the beach. She will be waiting for you when you return from your tour. She'll give you 10 mins or so to collect your stuff and use the outdoor shower by the resort pool. She will drop you off adjacent to the cruise terminal.
Here were the instructions they provided when we met her in the morning ...
Meeting Location/Transport Information:
The pre-arranged Transportation is provided by the Stingray City Wave Runners Adventure from the Church located next to the Blue Iguana Outlet Store located in George Town on the waterfront. Please Note: The Blue Iguana Outlet is not providing the transport, it is only the meeting area for the pickup.
The Blue Iguana Souvenir Outlet is a 2 minute walk from the South Cruise Ship Terminal or a 4 minute walk from the North Cruise Ship Terminal and a 5 minute walk from the Royal Watler Terminal. The Blue Iguana Outlet is LOCATED 1 SHOP SOUTH OF THE HARD ROCK CAFE. You will be able to see the shops sign as your tender approaches shore,on the right side of the Tender.
Everything worked perfectly & we had a blast ... def 100% recommend this tour and the transport option.

We also did the Island Marketing one at Grand Cayman Cruise Excursions and its AMAZING!!!!! Stingray city, rum point stop and then we hung out for lunch and drinks at the resort once we got back. Its the best
You can also snorkel while others (that don't care to snorkel) hang out at the beach ... I snorkled by myself, with the guide totally chilling, and had a blast. Also made it back to Rum Point and had time for a beer.

A cigar smoking carnivore on a cruise ship? Oh the horror of it all! ;)
-
At Blue Hole, I tipped the guides $20 for me & my DW ... There were 6 total (3 groups of 2) in our group and I think they tipped $10 or maybe $15.

me and my fiancee will be cruising to cozumel in nov for thanksgiving on rccl liberty. we are thinking about doing nachi cocum sounds like alota fun.
does anyone know how early can u make a reservation for this and does the cruiseline offer this?
Just tried a ghost booking and their website didn't balk at a Nov-2013 reservation. Just google them and book direct thrugh their website.
They require a $11/person deposit that is fully refundable if the itinerary changes/cancels or you have to cancel your cruise. I actually had to get a refund from them before so I know it's possible. Pay the remainder in cash at the reception desk when you arrive.
Enjoy your cruise!

The price last month (Apr-2013) was $15 / person & Courtney told me that there are actually 8 guides there. He said that Omar is the main one and his father owns the access point (gate) and adjoining land ...
And the guides will insist on taking picutres of you ... They'll also give you a heads up to switch to video when they'r planning some crazy stunt & trust me get your video ready because you'll be amazed at how nutz those guys are.

This just in, the cigar lounge on Freedom is....awesome!
Agree totally! I took several photos while there last month and shared them with my weekly cigar crew when I returned ... They were all very impressed as well ... Enjoy!
-
I foiund the one you listed to be the least expensive too & liked that they took credit card for final payment ...
You will need transport there, which is $5 / person each way. They'll manage it for you if you select that option as part of the reservation.
Really enjoyed this excursion and found the guide to be really chill & fun ... Feel free to ask questions if needed

Forward cabins on deck 9 are slightly larger due to the slope on the outside wall ... The extra room is between the bed and the portal window ... They're ocean view with a large portal ... You are requested/required to close the curtains in the evening to keep the light away from the bridge, which is directly above the cabin.

Was on the same cruise as you two, thanks for memories!
BTW, think I heard them singing happy b-day to you in the MDR & I recall the rain clouds in Cayman. We luckily missed them but they looked scary as we were jet skiing on the other side of the island.
Oh and the crab cakes were awesome!

May sound obvious but make sure to bring a lighter ... I didn't and was searching all over for light ... Finally a super nice bartender loaned me his ... but of course when I got back to the lounge there was some others in their with lighters that I could have borrowed, but they weren't there to start my journey ... lesson learned be prepared ... Oh and I never once saw anyone selling the cigars in the lounge. But they had a limited selection and the prices were sky high.
Courtney Taylor?

Yes that is his fee ... If you go to Dunns River or Blue Hole he doesn't get paid for the addmission or guide fees ... He gets paid to guide and drive you around. If you stop for lunch, you pay the restaraunt for that too ...
Here was his quote to us in April
Additional Cost Transportation............................$39 Adult
To cover cost you might be added to a group of 2 to 4 persons.
