  1. Years ago we were on NCL (ship sold) and we had a cabin of 111sq. ft. THAT'S when I learned to check out cabins before booking.

Newer NCL ships aren't much better. My inside on the NCL Epic is 2013 was 128sf.

The only NCL ships with decent sized cabins are the older ones such as the NCL Sun.

  2. I wish we knew their size. Do I have the deposit requirement correct? Even if the cruise date is 2 years out you have to deposit 50%. Is it also non-refundable?

I'm thinking somewhere in the 160sf area. My deposit was $300 per person because it's an 8 night cruise. $250 for a 7 night and other levels depending on number of nights. As to whether the deposit is refundable depends on how you book (ES or not).

  3. Keywords there are "one bottle per cruise". I am going on three cruises without getting off the boat so I'm taking three bottles. How you are interpreting the contract doesn't make sense and is not true. The contract does not say that they must confiscate your bottles and redistribute them to you later.

Yes, you are taking 3 different cruises starting on 3 different dates. On each of those start dates you are authorized to take one bottle per adult on board with you. Try reading the contract again. the contract pertains to each cruise and there is no other interpretation that can be derived from the contract. Anything other than the one bottle per adult per cruise is considered contraband and under current policy, is to be destroyed if found.

  4. Actually you're paying for the food, not the service. I've been to the steakhouse and didn't order, just enjoyed the company of friends while they ate. And no I wasn't charged, and I did have a bite of my friends dessert... Still no charge.

Funny how you get upset and report a post that only points out accurate, factual information.

  5. Been on I don't know how many b2b's or b2b2b's and have never had a problem taking it to the cabin. There is no station set up for them to take the liquor and store it out of Miami, Jacksonville, Ft. Lauderdale, or Baltimore. No clue about other ports.

Just another of Carnival's policies that they either do not enforce, enforce irregularly or have no clue about.

It is no longer Carnival's job to store unauthorized alcohol. The proper procedure is at the end of each disembarkation is to go purchase the next cruise's authorized amount of wine and carry it on board for the next cruise.

  6. And where did you get this information? I've been on two back-to-back cruises and in both instances was permitted to take my wine to my room upon boarding for the first cruise. I also asked John Heald whether I would be permitted to take three bottles on board with me when I debark on my back to back to back cruise in February. I was told that I will be able to do so.

That info is directly from the cruise contract. It doesn't matter what John Heald says if he is telling you to do something in violation of the cruise contract. 1 bottle per person age 21 and over per cruise. No gray areas. What is authorized and what one can get away with a two different things.

  7. Nobody knows yet how private it will or won't be. I'm anxious to see when the ship begins to sail. Carnival must of thought this through. I don't know that they will be any less private than the balconies on deck 6 of the Dream class. At least these can potentially be blocked off from any walking traffic. 5 months and we'll know.

Even if the general public can't walk past the patios before 1700, the area will be open to the Havana passengers so you have the chance of someone walking by 24/7.

  8. I thought I read something about the private Cabana deck being closed to the general public before 5 pm, only being for Havana Cabana users, but will open to everyone after that. Can anyone confirm this? I felt a little crazy booking for 687 days out too, but I'm so excited!!!

That's what I have read as well but no way to confirm until she actually starts sailing.

So will there be a new "Patio Club" to join on the Vista and who's going to have the guts to try knowing that someone could walk past your patio at any time? ;)

  9. I think we should get our lawyer on here to sue them for not letting someone who purchases cheers to get more than 15 drinks even buying more, but someone who does not have cheers can have as many drinks as they want to buy. That is discrimination!

Not when it's voluntary. No one is forced to purchase the Cheers program and suffer on the measly 15 daily drinks you get from it (oh the inhumanity of it all).

  10. The above has been our experience too. They started telling us at about 12 or 13 and when we asked if we could purchase drinks, they said, "so you'd like to buy one for a friend?", as they nodded their head, and repeated that again when we were slow to understand.

Just more proof they were ignoring the rules (15 drinks max.....period) most likely in an effort to get more in tips.

  11. I was poking around on the RCCL board and saw that the specialty restaurant prices are going up. I hope Carnival doesn't follow suit.

Princess's coffee cards are also going up. It's discouraging.

Probably just as discouraged as Carnival/princess/RCCL are at having to pay wage increases.

  12. ?? Not sure how that compares at all. That's like saying apples are just like watermelons. They both are fruit but that is all. Roller skates and wheelchairs have wheels but that is all.

No different than comparing a selfie stick and a cane as a previous poster did. They are both metal (usually) and long but one helps narcissistic people and the other helps disabled people.

  13. How can they upgrade if you do not agree to charges, unless it was free.

That's true. If they want to charge you they have to have your permission. But Carnival has upgraded or moved people without charge and without permission. Putting a notice for no upgrades means they won't do that (with the possible exception of non-HC people in an HC cabin being moved against their will).

  14. Ok, a little similar.

We arrived to sail on Splendor, we had just gotten off a week on Glory and 2 weeks on Breeze, this was our last week. We booked an inside way in the back because this was our recovery cruise...we wanted quiet and dark and I need aft because I have mobility issues and just easier to food.

We got to the desk and were informed we had been upgraded to a balcony, deck 8, mid ship. We said, "no thank-you" and were told, "too bad, can't change it as our old stateroom already was assigned to someone else" We ask about our luggage as it has the wrong tags. No problem, it will come to your new stateroom.

We get to the stateroom and it is not ready, we are Platinum so it is supposed to be ready. Find the steward and he apologizes and says he was never informed of the change. He promptly cleans and ready's our stateroom. We go to guest services to inquire about luggage, told no problem but to call housekeeping just in case. We call housekeeping, told no problem. Guess where our luggage went? To the old stateroom. Luckily we kept walking down there to check and sure enough there it was. So we (both handicapped) got our luggage back to the right stateroom.

Then our shower backed up every night and flooded the bathroom with sludge. EVERY night even though we were told it was taken care of.

We spent more time in line at guest services on that cruise.....

Would not have been a problem if they had just kept us in our original stateroom. I know a free upgrade sounds great, just be careful what you wish for! lol

You may not know this but you can have a reservation marked "No Upgrade" if you want to ensure you don't lose that cabin.

  15. I think they should be band. I been hit twice in the head by them and both times the people looked at me like it was my fault. No apology from them either. That they shouldn't be used in doors or in crowded ares such as when getting of the ship stopping the line to take a selfie, have had them over my head while they take a selfie in line.

That's when you take it and break it over your knee or call the police and have them arrested for battery.
