  1. Aren't insides substantially larger than studios? They're often much cheaper, too.

Why would anyone opt for a studio over an inside, if the former costs more? The snacks in the lounge couldn't be that good, and they only have a lounge because the rooms are so small all you can do is lie down to sleep.

I booked a studio for $749 and the inside was listed for $549 but when you add in the solo supplement, the inside room doubles to $1098 and no studio lounge. Now I have seen on some cruises where the price of the studio is more than an inside or balcony even with the solo supplement but not on the cruise I'm booked on unfortunately.

  2. I think my parents were closet hippies and named me something crazy and off the wall. I have a simple nickname but unfortunately I have to use my legal name for my credit cards, bank, even my professional license. I want to have it legally changed but until then I have to live with it. I do understand why they denied your card but come on William and Bill? I guess not everyone knows this is a nickname. They could have said I know Bill is probably a nickname but the card has to match your legal name. Thank goodness the other manager ran it for you. Trust me I would love to put my simple nickname on my cards, license and everything else.

  3. You should have rotated the sleeping arrangements half way through on the day the sheets got changed. It would have been more fair.

This! The split wasn't even at all! The other couple should have paid more or like sauerkraut said split the sleeping arrangements. Did you look at cabin pictures and dimensions before you and your travel companion (I think you said spouse) agreed to pay half? They don't sound like good people to travel with imo.

  4. Rayness, I can't quite tell if you've cruised solo yet or not, but if not I've done several so ask me anything. :)

(Used to test as INTJ but I've seemingly mellowed out a bit, it was something slightly different last time I ran one. ISTJ I think.)

(Side note, when I get time I'm also planning on writing a book on solo cruising, specifically for introverts. Niche, yes, but it's easy to publish a book these days.)

Haven't cruised solo yet but will in December kind of. I have my own cabin and a coworker I just met over the summer booked and she will have her own solo cabin. I'm still considering it a solo trip because I've only known her for a couple months. We said we could meet for some meals and some excursions but do our own thing otherwise. She's an introvert too actually.

I'm looking at a transpacific cruise and I'm definitely cruising solo for that one. I'm going to book a couple of pacific coastal cruises solo because I'm moving to California next year and a New England cruise solo before the TP cruise.

I have a flexible job so I'm going to book as many cruises as I can before I change careers.

  5. I know this thread is old but it's interesting. I test as an INTJ so an extreme introvert. I'm forced to be an extrovert (working on changing my career) because of my job but my favorite time of the day is after work when I'm in the car after work so I can decompress. At first the thought of cruising solo was strange but now I'm looking forward to it and many more solo cruises in the future. I enjoy traveling and always needed alone time when I travelled with others in the past. This would cause issues because I was known as the party pooper because I wanted to go back to the hotel room or cabin and not hang around my travel mates all day in the past. Now I can do my own thing and not worry about accommodating others. Plus I can see the world and visit a lot of places and not worry about flying to each individual place.

  6. Live 15 minutes away from Tampa, 2 hours from PC and 3 1/2 from Fort Lauderdale,4 hours from Miami. Cruising out of PC in December and Tampa in February. Booked a California coastal for next year but now I'm moving out there so I'm going to cancel that one for now and rebook after I get settled. That is one of the things I will miss about living here. Being close to all the different cruise ports. Won't miss the alligators and tractor trailer sized bugs.

  7. Technically I haven't sailed with NCL yet since my cruise is in December. I cruised with Carnival and didn't like it but liked the concept of cruising. I picked NCL because I'm a solo traveler for the most part and liked the solo cabin prices and freestyle dining. I am booked with a couple other cruise lines but if I enjoy the December cruise I can see myself booking with NCL again especially for a TA cruise because of the price. Torn between NCL and Celebrity for a TA.

  8. Solo!! I'm taking my first solo cruise in December another in February and I'm considering a transpacific in 2018 and a transatlantic next year. I love to travel but I don't have anyone to travel with me. Just think you can do what you want, when you want and how you want without worrying about your travel companion!
