Thanks.  That is the small table.  We going to have to request a larger table--the smaller balcony table is useless for a wheelchair user since it can't be pulled up under and can only be used with difficulty from the side.  So no good for breakfast--just holding a drink.

Good luck with that request. People are lucky to have any table at all lately.

  2. If limited food selections at the buffet served in cardboard containers, hot dogs in soggy buns (already with their toppings) & cold pre-made vegetarian sandwiches in the buffet line along with cold desserts that should be server warm as good food, then yes you'll be happy.

Stick with the DR & the food was much better.

It was not this way on the Emerald. We just finished three b2b's. No doors were shut and we had access to our cabin the entire morning. When Princess shuts doors it makes it difficult for b2ber's to access their cabins where all their belongings remain. Princess sells b2b's and should not deny access to passenger cabins for those so booked on turn around day.

So what did they tell you after you proceeded to open the door & go to your cabin?

    I suspect nothing.

Greetings!  Anyone know how much are the things like wrist bands and such for the OMs?  We are on Royal's first run with OM in a few weeks but they only note an option of a lanyard although I know there are other ways to carry the devices.  Cheers!

You can always resort to using your pocket.

We were on the Ruby in December and the doors were closed AND alarmed. If you opened the door a crew member came and "helped" you go back where you belonged...the other side of the door.

We were sitting on the stairs waiting and saw 2 different people escorted back to the elevator lobby.

The doors were opened at exactly 1 PM.

Sounds like they're tough on the Ruby. Not like the other ships.

I have yet to find the doors closed....just announcements & when reaching the cabin there was no problem dumping the bags.

This experience plus the terrible buffet completely turned us off on this ship

Lets hope their new buffet food setup doesn't spread to the other ships & ruin the whole Princess fleet, especially the Royal class ships.

The Medallion program sounds pretty good.  I can see a huge advantage in the "Shipmates" function.

True, if they even fix the major flaw of letting anyone who finds your lost Medallion have access to your cabin.

    Some day I suppose.

We were on the first cruise on CB when it came out of dry dock and had the buffet area redone to the current configuration.  My only complaint about the buffet change (and I heard a lot of passengers talking about this) is that the food on the buffet was never really more than room temperature.  I didn't know if they had gotten all new buffet equipment and it was defective or if had not been re-installed correctly or what.  It was kind of strange but seemed like something they would definitely need to get fixed.  Also, toward the back of the buffet area, there was a section that just had very little food there.  It was just odd to see so much buffet area with less than a half dozen food things to pick from and the rest just empty space.  I also attributed that to the fact that it was the first cruise out of dry dock but maybe that's just how it is.  I would be curious to know from recent cruisers if those issues still exist.

Yes, the conditions still exist as of last Dec.

Otherwise, I thought everything was typical Princess.  I thought the new interior design changes in the buffet were really nice.  It looked great in there.  We have sailed on CB 3 or 4 times.  I would not hesitate to go on her again.

We've sailed the CB before but non of the current problems were there until the dry dock.

    Fooled me once, not again.

I don't understand why the bar would still look at your number on the card. That defeats the purpose. When a server approaches you, your medallion info should pop up on their tablet with your preferences (drinks). Maybe there are still bugs to work out. The medallion is supposed to be able to control everything.

When we were last on the Regal in Feb the servers weren't using tablets for Medallions.

They were going to classes on how to use them.

    Maybe they are today?

We were on her last summer.  I was pretty disappointed in the new world market buffet and can see why they haven't rolled it out further.  The food was pretty meh the entire week.  We had A/C issues in our room, but we took the diffuser off the ceiling and the flow was better.  That might become a norm for me.

Other than the food, it was a good cruise, and I can always find something to eat.  We will be on her again this summer.

We had the exact same problem with the buffet food and AC as you did. We also took our the deflector which didn't improve the air flow that much and had a miscible 14 days in the hot cabin. The selections and the way the food was presented in the  new world market buffet were terrible.

Saying that we found the DR food to very good.

We won't book another trip on the CB anytime soon.

My least fav Princess ship.  I avoid it.  Do not like FMP buffet as food is weird and often the same everyday.  Hotel staff are very good but dining room staff & MD leave a lot to be desired.  We were in full suite and no one bothered to tell us we were entitled to Club Class dining.

It's difficult to explain how the buffet has changed but it's not for the better and until they change back to the Horizon court food we'll be skipping the CB in the future. There are so many better Princess ships to sail on. 👍

When they started adding more people, they didn't add additional dining and theatre spaces.

But it keep the prices low & for most people that's an important thing. Sure they could have designed the ship to allot more space to the DR & show lounge but lost a lot of perspective customers in the process.

How often do you need to detach your medallion and hand it to staff? I have a great 3 foot expanding belt chain but no quick disconnect (yet)— so I order a beer at a bar, or on the ocean now app — can I complete the deal without unclipping?

Are there other times that one needs to detach? What about people with wrist bands?

As of last month the 3 foot retraction device was still OK. The bartenders were still using the cards and not the Medallions. As soon as they get rid of the cards the servers will have tablets for identification so there still wouldn't be any need to detach them.

I don't recall any of those sauces.  I just remember the chef reinventing different ways to cook sausage.  One thing I do recall is a meatloaf with a hotdog down the middle of the meatloaf.  I swear they were left over from the grill and a new dish reinvented with them.  I thought how clever the chef was.  Next day, what was left  of the hotdog meatloaf was served cold on the salad  aisle.

I couldn't get myself to eat that meatloaf when it was fresh without the hot dog. 😫

Maybe this will work as intended someday, but I felt the whole shebang was unnecessary and wasteful.

It might be but we'll never know it's real value to Carnival Corp in terms of the data collected. Right now it makes things a little more convenient for me so I'll go along with it since it doesn't cost anything extra.

For those that fear being tracked jut use a piece of aluminum foil to hide yourselves. You'll disappear completely off their radar.

I learned my lesson about Anytime in Nov 2015 aboard the Crown. They would put 4 of us at a table of 8.

That was the exact reason for all your problems. Never sit at large a table & the wait is reduced considerably. To add to the slowness of dining, the more people at a table the more talking and you never get to the shows on time

I can't remember the last time I went to bed that early. I know that seems to be the case for the majority of folks on Princess ships though. When I'm up late the ship seems pretty deserted.

But at the same time many of those same people will be up & about before 5 AM.

I'm usually up at 4:30 on the ship watching a movie, waiting for the buffet to open and drinking my coffee. :classic_cool:

Don't think I've ever seen one on cruise ships.

That's a main reason why MUTS isn't that great if you have some hearing impairment. At least on the room TV's they've now included captioning on most of the televised movies lately which for me is a great improvement especially for English movies.
