  1. FYI, I got hosed on that flat fare taxi thing in January... I don't recall seeing the meter say $27 flat fee. I paid $50 including the tip for 2 on marathon weekend (which was why we needed the car since we couldn't return our budget car rental to their port location).

  2. Just back from the same cruise. This our 13th cruise but first on Carnival. Our inside room was pretty decent on Upper Deck. Everything seemed to work well except the air conditioning, but that was adjusted and fixed on day one. Super quiet and adequate room for three.

I found the lido food a little hit or miss, but loved the MDR. We had fantastic service and I thought the food and service was actually better than on some of my past cruises.

Service overall was very good. Itinerary was one of the best I have ever experienced. Full days ashore and some ports are rarely visited.

I too loved the Throwback Captain's Cocktail Party. What a nice feature. It did remind me of some of my earliest cruises when cruise lines did not skimp so much on these events.

What floor upper deck were you on? I've book Verandah and I'm wondering if we need to upgrade or abandon this ship.

I went online to order a 2nd case and saw that they are now selling it onboard for the same price.... For some reason I thought it cost more if you purchased it on the ship. (Update: I hear if you order on the ship they charge gratuity)

  4. What part of ALL SURGE PROTECTORS ARE FIRE HAZARDS do you not understand. Carnival says they are prohibited. Weve had someone who has worked on ships electrical for over 20 yrs say its a fire hazard and explain why and you still dont get it. Weve had another tell us about how his started burning. Just because yours was not detected in your bags with them checking thousands of other bags doesnt mean its acceptable and not a fire hazard. Fire on the open seas is not something to play around with and try and sneak past like rum runners.

Then to come on here and tell others to go ahead and try and sneak it through is irresponsible to say the least. Unbelievable!

I never said to sneak it past... All I said was that mine has been onboard and ok... Both cabin stewards saw it! I also said that they are at risk of being removed.

  5. OK, I thought this could be a fun and helpful thread.

I would love to see all the THINGS that you have found to bring on the cruise that maybe the next person never thought of. It could be something from the Fun Shops that's a good deal. Or it could be a gadget you found online somewhere that is great when traveling.

A pic, link, or ordering info would be helpful too!

    I'll start:

I found these cool luggage tag holders so you can keep your carnival tags neat and don't have to tape or staple! I'm getting these before the next cruise! 511mBs6I0dL.jpg

and I picked up this travel power strip with usb plugs! 6181C7opylL._SL1200_.jpg

What cool item have you found for your cruise?!:)

I've been able to get this (nearly new) surge protector into my cabin for my 2 Carnival cruises in 2015 http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Advanced-3-Outlet-Surge-Protector-with-USB-Charging-14002/202203569?cm_mmc=Shopping%7cTHD%7cG%7c0%7cG-VF-PLA-D27E-Electrical%7c&gclid=CKPYvbr6rswCFc9ahgodmFsISw&gclsrc=aw.ds so, go ahead in bring yours if you purchased it already... I think it will be fine. Just know it could be removed if anyone thinks it's a fire hazard.

I have this Amazon list with stuff I'd like to bring: http://amzn.com/w/3A6L9P1S5AVJP

  6. Anyone figure out a way to use these for the Cheers program, pre-trip? It doesn't say you can't, anywhere that I've read. But yet, I can't figure out how to online.

I don't think you can use them online for that, I haven't heard of anyone using them by purchasing the beverage packages over the phone so maybe try that?

  7. The address confirmation contact thing was when I purchased our 1st $500 one... It took forever to ship, we found out that they contacted my boyfriend on our account instead of me to confirm our address and he never called or wrote them back so they wouldn't ship it.

  8. From Carnival's website:

"A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, and milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought onboard on embarkation day and must be in the guest's carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person."
