I think there are still a few glitches occurring.

I agree Mic,  I'm not getting notification from my roll call (happened with our one too) yet I'm getting notifications from one other post... I would of thought I would get notifications from everything I post on....   Anyhoo might just be teething problems :classic_sleep:

  2. We ask for the Vegetarian and the Indian menus each night in the MDR, always a lot of options to choose from :). We learnt to ask on our first cruise with Celebrity on the Connie. It took a bit to get the menus the first couple of nights but no problems afterwards. On our cruise on the Sollie (sorry love nicknames) we asked the first night and no problems getting the menus every night after that. :)

  3. If your ship gets in at 7 am, you should go to Bangkok and do the overnight. If you arrive by 10 am, there is plenty of time for tours on the two days and a nice night in Bangkok. The roll call excursions are your best bet. Good luck and have fun.

    Unfortunately we don't arrive till 2pm :(

As much as I'm loving this itinerary and definitely not gonna jump ship (pun intended) there are a few flaws.

There seems to be a few lovely things to do locally to the port (well semi locally). I'm crossing my fingers that someone finds something amazing on my roll call and I can join the party.

Have a great cruise too. :) :ship: :ship:

  4. I would definitely let them know before hand, if you have booked through a travel agent get them to follow it up. If you have booked via Celebrity maybe just email them. I would be careful with the buffet due to cross contamination. I don't have food allergies myself but I would definitely make sure the maitre d in the MDR knows even if you have advised prior to the cruise. Better to be safe. Happy cruising :)

  5. Your port times in Bangkok are awful and you should reconsider your plan not to overnight there. It's one of the reasons we passed on Celebrity for Southeast Asia and are doing this on Azamara, which docks in both Saigon and Bangkok while Celebrity is two hours away in each. If that weren't an issue, there is no question that given the price difference, we would be on that Celebrity ship.

Your problem is the ship docks two hours away from Bangkok and arrives at 2 pm on day one and departs at 6 pm the next day. This limits touring.

You might want to consider a Tuk Tuk night tour on your first day, stay overnight and do a tour the next day for six hours that does Bangkok highlights.

It's worth a night in a hotel to avoid 4 hours of travel and to maximize your time in that port.

Thanks for the tips :) I'm traveling solo, so I'm paying double for my stateroom. I will definitely look into if I can find a cheap option to stay over night :)

Any other tips? Thanks again :)

  6. On my last cruise we woke up to our door being decorated by our cruise mates that we had met on a previous cruise. We thought it was fantastic and never had trouble finding our stateroom the whole cruise. I think it was such a special thing that our friends did and I'm planning on using the magnets again on the next cruise.

  7. Hi everyone,

I'm trying to plan my shore excursion for my 20th January cruise. I'm just getting more confused.

I think Vietnam is organised one of my roll call tour mates is organising some private tours and I'm very close to joining them.

    This is my itinerary:

    • SINGAPORE
    • SINGAPORE
    • BANGKOK/LAEMCHABANG,THAILAND
    • BANGKOK/LAEMCHABANG,THAILAND
    • HO CHI MINH(PHU MY), VIETNAM
    • HUE/DANANG(CHAN MAY),VIETNAM
    • HONG KONG, CHINA
    • HONG KONG, CHINA
    • SHANGHAI (BAOSHAN), CHINASINGAPORE

Any suggestions especially for Bangkok I really don't want to do an overnight stay but I do want to see Bangkok.

Also has anyone done Disneyland in Hong Kong, if so how did you get there from the port?

Any help or suggestions would be wonderful.

    Thanks in advance :ship::ship::ship: :ship:

  8. Yep, you dance like no one is looking:D On my first cruise, the sail away party had a "few" dancing and a lot of folks looking. I was one of those dancing. On my first cruise, I went with a group but I had a cabin to myself by design. Soooo glad I did. I'm independent ever since I heard the President of my college make a statement, a lot of times, "If you were stuck on a desert island by yourself, could you entertain yourself." Her words changed my life and the way I see things.

By the time of my cruise, I will be 67. I'm retired from my grown up job, but now I do another job, unpaid as it is... I took classes to become a Group Fitness Instructor (did it at 66) and I'm going to party like it's 1995, Oops! 2095 Yippie! Yesterday I took a Soca Step Class (Soca is a forum of Caribbean Music @ a beat of 150-170bpm.)

Work it girl and party hardy!! I don't drink nor gamble (ship aint' gonna make a lot of money off of me) but I dance like nobody is looking.

    Ramona

I have my drink package included as a free perk so I will make the most of it :) I bought the photo package on my last cruise but don't think I would spend the money again to do that.

And wow good on you!!!! You are amazing!! I'm 42 :) and you are inspiring me to just go out and dance when i want to :)

Look forward to hearing about your cruise and any other tips you can give me :)

  9. I'm kind of excited and both a little scared doing my solo cruise. It is only my second cruise, the first was 2017 Nov 30th. I'm going to South America, Royal Princess, inside cabin. I'm single and not going to look for anyone... this is a bucket list trip for me. I just jumped in not knowing anyone. However, I've joined the Roll Call and will help with our three Meet and Greets (49 nights)

By the way, where are you heading?

    Ramona

    Hi Ramona,

I'm going on the Celebrity Constellation from Singapore to Shanghai. It's a great itinerary.

I'm not totally a solo traveller. I better explain. I'm from Australia and I have a Canadian couple that I have cruised with twice before & I crashed their cruise. Usually I cruise with a friend but she wasn't able to join me this time.

So I will have them to do meals with and hopefully shore excursions. But I will have my stateroom to myself and also they aren't big on going out at night. So that will be a challenge for me. Do I go and have a drink and dance by myself?

The roll call for our cruise is a little quiet at the moment but there is still over 6 months to the cruise so it will probably pick up.

It's all very exciting :):ship: :ship:

  10. I'm doing my first solo cruise on Celebrity in January. I have paid double minus the port fees/taxes. I do receive double Captain's Club points so that one good thing.

I think I will be asking my cabin steward to make me towel animals as I'm a big kid and love them :)

I don't know if I would want a cabin upgrade if I was offered one, unless it was still a mid-ship cabin. I'm prone to feeling the motion of the water.

Looking forward to it but also a little bit nervous :)

  11. I live in Singapore & have to bring friends or colleagues around from all over the world when they visit. These are my suggestions:

    1. Hotels

There're simply too many to name & majority of them are either in Orchard area or City Hall area. They are all within reasonable distance to most of the major tourist destinations. So, you can just choose any of them based on your budget & reviews. Unless you pick hotels in non-tourist area, transportation shouldn't be your number 1 consideration.

    2. Mobile communication

I would highly recommend buying a local SIM card when you arrive. There are many shops selling it. At the airport, they tend to try to sell you the higher "value/credit" of $30 or $50. You can get them in 7-eleven or other shops with smaller value of $15/$18. Singtel offers 100GB data for 7 days deal for local use: https://www.singtel.com/personal/i/phones-plans/mobile/prepaid/hitouristsimcards For Starhub, you have to buy the dataplan, but the data can be used in like 15 countries so if you are cruising to Msia, Thailand, HK etc, you can use the same SIM card at local rates http://www.starhub.com/personal/mobile/mobile-phones-plans/prepaid-cards/happy-roam.html

    2. Transportation

If you plan to stay more than 2 nights, you can download an app "How2Go" so that you can go around taking public transport. Taking public transport in Singapore is easy, the EZ-link card can be purchased at most MRT stations. https://www.transitlink.com.sg/PSdetail.aspx?ty=catart&Id=1#2

Another alternative is to download an app "Grab" (Uber equivalent), in which you can get a ride or taxi through the app & pay by credit card.

    3. Places to go

Arab Street to Bugis to Raffles Hotel

    China Town area

    Little India

Sentosa Island (Siloso Fort & Pahlawan beach)

    One Fullerton (Merlion) to Esplanade

    Gardens by the Bay

Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Safari

My choice if you have below 12 hrs:

    - One Fullerton, Gardens by the Bay & China Town

    2 days 1 night:

    - China Town, One Fullerton & Gardens by the Bay, followed by 7:45pm or 8:45pm light show.

    - Sentosa Island

    Hope this help...

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge [emoji4]
